Tahoe Donner Golf Club
Played On 07/14/2021Tahoe Donner Golf Course
Weather was great. Course in good shape. Group in front of us very slow; 3 holes open in front. Marshall came by and assisted us moving up. Great idea. The rest of the play was wonderful. Nobody in front and nobody in back! Doesn't get better than that!
Old Brockway Golf Course
Played On 09/01/2017Old Brockway Course
Decided to play Brockway because I hdt a HotDeal on Golfnow and I could not get a tee time at other courses I like better in the Truckee area. Upon arrival at the course, I was informed the cart is not included in the $70 green fee. So an additional $15.00 for a cart. Push carts were not available as they were sold out. I could have brought a push cart from Truckee but thought the carts were included. Shame on me for not reading the fine print. I was paired with three other ladies and then found out one of the husbands were going to accompany us. At first he said he was injured and would only be chipping and putting. After the first hole, he play the full course. This five some lead to almost a 3 hour round for nine holes. Unacceptable. The three dropped off as we made the turn as we had paid for 18. We skipped the first hole because an employee approached us and said if we were going to play behind the group in front of us - be prepared for a long 9. Skipping the first hole we played a great pace until the 5th hole and we were really bogged down again. This course has many people who are not regular players. The group in front shared clubs, rode three to a cart (one hanging off the back) and hit more trees than fairways. They also played the back tees. Speaking of tees, only the back tees are in good shape. All forward tees have very little grass in the tee box. So I quickly understood why they were playing the back tees. Water on the course is very limited. Water for purchase is limited even though there is a new pro shop and a remodel underway of the cafe at the course. There is no ice provided in the cart which you pay and additional $15 for. Restrooms are limited on the course and the Pro Shop restrooms are not the cleanest in town. Staff are the most friendly and it is hard to write this review thinking of them. I played this course three years ago and remembered it was expensive for the product offered. I will not play this course again - Hot Deal or not. It is not for me. There are so many other choices in Tahoe/Truckee area. Paying $85 was money wasted; glad I had a great golf buddy with me which made the day pleasant.
Lone Tree Golf Course
Played On 08/15/2016Had to play the front 9 twice
I made the reservation and upon arrival at the course I noticed a huge tournament getting ready to start. I asked the pro shop if I had to follow the group his response was curt - "No, you are going to play the front nine twice". Great, if I had known that prior to reserving a tee time I would have selected another course. Lone Tree is a nice place to do a practice round when my club is closed on Mondays. I just expected to play 18 not 9 twice.
Graeagle Meadows Golf Course
Played On 05/10/2015Great surroundings and fantastic pace of play
I received a good rate with Golf Now and played as a single. I was paired with another person that enjoyed a fast pace of play. We were able to finish the round in 3.5 hours. The course is fun and the surroundings beautiful. Since it was Mother's Day, the cafe was busy however the course remained uncrowded. I'll play there again later in the week. Pleasant experience.
The Lakes Course at Red Hawk
Played On 09/07/2014Course in great shape
You need to think about your game plan on this course. There are many bunkers with different types of sand in each one. If you get stuck in one - think about where you need to be and work on getting there. It is not a simple course. If you want to score well, you need a game plan. I loved it. I joined the Talon Club and I'm so happy I did. Tomorrow I will play the hills course. This will be my goto course when I'm in Reno. I desperately needed a good course to play when spending 1/2 my time in Reno. Discovery Bay is my main club and I just could not take playing another Muni.
Lone Tree Golf Course
Played On 08/08/2014Great sunset round with course wide open
I played a quick round at sunset and had the entire course pretty much. That was great because the course was in good shape and the wind had died down. Great course to get out and practice solo. I belong to a local country club that doesn't offer twilight golf so Lone Tree gets my business when I need to work out issues.
The Links at Everline
Played On 06/29/2014Beautiful setting
I played mid afternoon on a Sunday and my partner and I had the course wide open. We didn't have to wait at any hole. The course is a typical mountain course with the front nine having narrow sloping fairways. This means you have to pretty accurate or you will have lots of work to do. The back nine is in the meadow area but not without challenge. While the fairways are wider you have many marsh areas you must layup to so that you carry the area. This was a challenge for me being the first time playing here. I will have better course management skills next time. I would like to play again. I must say the resort is conserving water as evident in brown spots on fairways and greens that are not velvet. If this does not bother you its a great place to play.
Graeagle Meadows Golf Course
Played On 06/27/2014Velvet Greens and wonderful mountain views
This was a great course to play. It was my first time at this facility. I had taken a golf school at WhiteHawk and wanted to try Greagle Meadows. It was worth the drive from Truckee. I was paired with another single and it was an enjoyable round. Pace of play was fast like I like it. Nobody was in front of us as we were the first people out that morning. The course is in good shape and the greens were true.
I will be going back again when the deals pop up on GolfNow. The Proshop has reasonable merchandise and there are good practice areas to warmup. My only issue was practice balls were not included in the price of the round. I had to purchase too many balls for a warmup for $6.00 I ended up sharing them with the person I was paired with.
Tahoe Donner Golf Club
Played On 05/21/2014Great spring time round in the mountains
An early open for the course provides a great opportunity to get in a round of golf in the Sierras. The mountain peaks around the course had a fresh sprinkling of snow from recent storms which made the course absolutely beautiful. Fairways are in good shape and greens doing well. I found the greens slow and had to get used to hitting the ball a bit harder to get it to the hole. I played the first 14 holes without seeing another player on the course! How lucky is that to have that much of the course to yourself. While I had to dodge some rain drops, it was a great round and I look forward to getting another tee time soon.
Wildcreek Golf Course
Played On 8/10/2013The course condition has greatly improved. It suffered from a bad winter couple of years ago, consistent work by crew produced a better course.
A group of five four tee times before me caused me to end the round early. It was just too slow and frustrating. I don't like twenty minute waits between shots. There were so many of us backed up, I ended up hitting up into the group in front of me. I didn't realize they were still waiting in a valley which was not visible from the tee box.
Suggestion for the course - do not allow groups of five on weekends.
