El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
Played On 12/28/2023Good time with friends
Played with friends to celebrate the new year. We enjoy this challenging course. The greens and fairways were in good condition. The pace of play was excellent.
El Dorado at Quail Valley Golf Course
Played On 03/29/2022Fun round except pace of play
I had a great time playing the course. There are many challenges.
Playing mid-day you assume you’ll play at a certain pace. The twosome in front of us wouldn’t let us play through and they played slowly. The group behind us hit into us on an earlier hole.
Greatwood Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2020Play fast and move on
I played early, before a tournament started. The tournament did not affect my play. Large fairways with a few holes that have forced carries make the course interesting and challenging.
Jersey Meadow Golf Course
Played On 09/15/2020Slow play for no reason
The course has little rough, and the layout is ok. For some reason, the pace of play is glacial. I have played this course several times through the years, and it is not uncommon to have a 4.5 hour round, with one round that lasted over 6 hours.
You can play this course but be aware that you may have incoming.
Yesterday, we were stuck behind a group of three who were playing from the tips, hit the ball maybe 130 yards and then all three played from one spot, like a scramble. They wouldn’t let us play through.
I understand that people are out to have fun and kill time, but the layout has several tee boxes that are in range from other tee boxes, which means you must keep an eye on who is hitting. They did a layout change a while ago, but they did not solve the tee box issues.
Longwood Golf Club - Post Oak Course
Played On 07/11/2020Great course friendly people
The course is in good shape. The round lasted about 4 hours so pace of play on a Saturday morning was great.
Jersey Meadow Golf Course
Played On 12/30/2019Course conditions are good, amenities need work
The greens are in good condition. The course is tight and you have to watch other golfers on several holes because you could hit them and they could hit you.
The public restrooms are a disgrace. I used several during my round and every toilet was broken and over-flowing. The smell was terrible. They need to work on every one of them.

Played On 02/04/2018Meadowbrook Farms Golf Club
Played On 07/06/2014Good course, just a windy day
I have played Meadowbrook Farms several times in the past year. It is a somewhat challenging course with water and well-placed bunkers. The bunkers are being repaired at this time.
The greens are in great shape with plenty of subtle indentations.
The fairways are in good condition.
I would play here again.
Legendary Oaks Golf Course
Played On 06/15/2014A good value for the money
The course is in good shape. The fairways are brown, but I expect that in June in Texas. The greens have subtle breaks and require your attention. Some of the rough is playable, some is not. I played from the whites because about 6,000 yards is plenty. I like to putt for birdie rather than hit hybrids for bogeys.
The tee boxes are in good shape.
I would play this course again.
Longwood Golf Club - Post Oak Course
Played On 04/23/2014Needs work
They do not water the fairways, so expect a lot of roll. The greens are sanded. Putting is uneven at best. We were in front of a tournament; the pin positions were the most difficult, especially on the par 3 holes. No one in that tournament would win with a hole-in-one without hitting a career shot.
We were alone for most of the first 9 holes. They staggered the tournament players, so all of a sudden we had groups before us and behind us. The tournament players were taking a day from work and in no hurry to play. This caused a massive slow down on the back 9.
The course condition is a 5 on a scale of 10. It's playable but there are other courses in town that are in much better condition.
BlackHorse Golf Club - North Course
Played On 02/19/2014Kind of disappointing
The front nine of the North course have many interesting and challenging holes. The sand is very soft and good to play from. The greens are in good shape with many subtle breaks.
The back nine does not have the same interesting or challenging layout. Water only comes into play on the 18th.
I was expecting more of a challenge throughout the course.
The price is expensive and the value is not quite there for me. There are courses nearby with more challenging layouts.
Pine Crest Golf Club
Played On 02/17/2014Tight course
This course is average. It is winter in Houston, so the fairways are hard and the grass is crispy and brown. The greens are bumpy and slow, especially on the front 9.
The bunkers are in bad shape; they are mostly dirt.
Houston National Golf Club
Played On 02/16/2014Needs work
Where to begin.
The course is priced as one of the better courses in the area, but the fairways are hard and brown. The greens are mostly slow. The course needs some serious maintenance to reach their course prices.
The staff is nice but clueless. It takes far too long to get food on the turn. They only have one or two people behind the counter and they are nice but easily distracted. I had to receive change for a $20 and that took at least ten minutes and several people's help.
The bunkers are OK. I like playing the course and I would recommend it when they improve the course maintenance.
Cypress Lakes Golf Club
Played On 8/9/2012Course is fun, but the rough is too long
I have played Cypress Lakes many times. It is a challenging, but fair course. The greens are fast and one of the best in Houston.
The last time that I played there, they had let the rough grow. I would like to say that every drive hits the fairway, but they don't. It was frustrating to hit good shots and to be penalized when they disappeared into the grass.
I complained to the staff in the Pro Shop after the round. I had been telling my friends about the course, but I now I tell them to avoid it.
