About

I was born and raised in Buffalo NY where the number of months we get to play each year changes depending on Mama Nature. I grew up playing baseball and didn't start playing the game of golf until I was about 25. My love for the game has multiplied over the past couple years and is slowly turning into an obsession. I went from playing once every other week in 2015 to playing weekly (sometimes twice a week) in 2016.

Buffalo is known for its cold winters, horrible sports teams and chicken wings. However, the golf scene is a hidden gem when you come to visit and my goal in 2017 is to provide reviews to all the locals and visitors to help you enjoy the game of golf with the limited time we may have!!

Course Difficulty - 5/10 (Wide Fairways, large greens)

Food/beverage - 4/10 (Same old options)
54/100...... I give the course credit for letting people go out after leagues as not many courses would do that. There’s a new GPS system in their carts which was great and informed us how much time we had remaining before we had to bring the carts back in, which is great for groups trying to get in as many holes as possible. It’s a better solution than having the starter go chase people down. Overall the course was decent. Greens were in decent shape and same with the fairways. Tough to find trouble as the fairways and greens are both massive and not a lot of trouble. If the course invested in an actual cart path and some updated landscaping, it could end up being a really nice public course.

Audobon

Little windy but otherwise a very nice day for golf. Third time out on the course of the year and again another disappointing course. Course was a little swampy and balls that were landing in the fairway were even difficult to find because the balls would plug. If you missed the fairway your ball was basically lost because the rough conditions (between the length of the grass and the wetness) were so horrible.

Price - 2/10 ($36 for 18 holes with a cart) Audobon shouldn’t be charging this amount in peak season let alone in April.
Staff – 3/10 (Not Friendly, one cashier) Lady that runs this joint needs to work on her people skills. The starter is awesome though and a friendly guy however he didn’t assist us this time.
Putting Green - 5/10 (No holes, very small, flat and only three options to putt at)
Course Condition - 1/10 (Swampy in spots, fairways were mowed however the rough was in the worst shape I have ever seen)
Course Layout - 5/10 (Standard Layout, no signature holes)
Greens - 5/10 (Decent Shape, pretty flat)
Course Difficulty - 4/10 (Pretty wide open)
Pace of Play - 7/10 (Great Pace)
Views/Scenery - 3/10 (Nothing to look at)
Food/beverage - 1/10 (vending machine)
36/100...... This round should have cost $20, not $36. Absolute joke.

Dande Farms

Cold start to the day however by 930am the sun came around and it turned out to be a fairly decent day. The course on the other hand was rough. There were some swampy spots throughout the course however I didn't hold that against them before a monsoon decided to come through Buffalo the week before. However what I did hold against them was their maintenance of the fairways. A golf course fairway should not be the same length as the rough throughout the entire course. People who hit the fairways on a consistent basis should be rewarded not penalized.

Price - 5/10 ($25 for 18 holes with a cart)
Staff - 4/10 (No starter, one cashier)
Putting Green - 6/10 (Comparable to the greens on the course)
Course Condition - 1/10 (Swampy in spots, fairways were same length as the rough)
Course Layout - 5/10 (Standard Layout, no signature holes)
Greens - 6/10 (good Condition, tricky slopes)
Course Difficulty - 4/10 (No Trouble)
Pace of Play - 7/10 (Great Pace)
Views/Scenery - 4/10 (Boring views)
Food/beverage - 5/10 (Standard Grill options)
47/100...... I should have paid the extra $15 and played somewhere else. I thought we were getting a bargain deal since other courses were charging more money however we were wrong.

Terry Hills

Me and my Buddies were finally able to get out for our first official round of the season. Terry Hills is known for being open as long as theres no snow on the ground and the course is usually our Go-To course for the start of the year. The course conditions surprised us. Out of the 18 holes we played there were two that were in rough shape. And keep in mind that it snowed on Friday!! Great Job to the design team because the course obviously drains well.

Price - 7/10 ($35 for 18 holes with a cart)
Staff - 7/10 (Friendly and Knowledgeable)
Putting Green - 3/10 (more of a chipping green, no holes, far away from everything)
Course Condition - 8/10 (Great condition for being the first round of the year)
Course Layout - 5/10 (Standard Layout, not too many dog legs or blind shots)
Greens - 7/10 (good Condition, tricky slopes)
Course Difficulty - 6/10 (Short course)
Pace of Play - 10/10 (dont recall waiting long on a single hole)
Views/Scenery - 7/10 (Especially wooded area, probably a lot nicer views when the leaves are there)
Food/beverage - 6/10 (Standard turn)

66/100...... Not bad for it being the first round of the year.
