Desert Canyon Golf Club
Played On 11/06/2017Fabulous Condition
The course has only been open for two weeks as it has been closed since the big wind storm in July, so the tee boxes, fairways and greens are immaculate. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a slower foursome for the first few holes and were very pleased when they allowed us to play through.
Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills
Played On 11/01/2017Great Price due to Overseeding
Paid $16 including power cart. Course was over seeded two weeks ago so only restriction was 90 degree rule. Course is in really good condition and the greens were good as well. Here for two weeks from Canada so will play there again.
Legend at Arrowhead, The
Played On 02/15/2017Course is in Great Condition
The course is in really great shape. We played as a twosome and had minimal wait times between holes and finished in less than three and a half hours. Enough water to challenge play as the fairways are sloped towards the water. Also quite a few dog-legs which require good ball striking in order to remain in play and/or have clear shots to the greens. One shortcoming is the distance from the cart-path to the green at a number of holes - at some holes it's +100 feet which slows down the pace considerably.
Cave Creek Golf Course
Played On 02/01/2017Good Value
Played this course for the first time and will likely play there again. Greens were really challenging which resulted in a number of putts that were close but not close enough! Water on six or seven holes to have to consider and a number of fairways that the wash comes into play. Not overly challenging provided that you keep the ball in play.
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 03/25/2016Course has a few challenging water holes
Course was in excellent condition. Pace was excellent as we finished in just under 4 hours which included a stop for a quick bite to eat after 9 holes. A number of challenging water holes.
Coronado Golf Course
Played On 02/03/2014Great price for 9 holes
Although the fairways are not watered and the grass not green the tee boxes are in good shape and the greens are in great shape. We played 9 holes in just over an hour and waited on a couple of holes, so the pace was excellent. For $10 a great course to tune up the short game.
Continental Golf Course
Played On 01/22/2014Decent value for the cost.
Course is in pretty good shape with the greens in excellent condition. As an executive 18 it requires one to use most clubs in the bag. We usually play this course several times when we're in Phoenix, but only played there once as the pace of play was terribly slow and they had no Ranger to speed up the slow group(s).
Desert Canyon Golf Club
Played On 11/03/2013This course has a number of elevation changes and excellent views.
The course has a number of holes with elevated tees and greens. With 4 sets of tee boxes it will be a challenge for most golfers. Unfortunately, it took 5 hours to play on a weekday - perhaps the result of the course being too challenging for some players. Complimentary practice balls are included with the green fees.
Grass Clippings at Rolling Hills
Played On 3/21/2013A great executive course which will challenge mid to high handicap players.
Course is in great conditions with rolling fairways and undulating greens. There are eight par 4 holes which are relatively short aside from #18, but with three sets of tee boxes and several dogleg left layouts, these were mostly challenging. No water but a lot of natural desert and wash areas to lose balls when you stray from the fairways. Rate of play was great at less than 3 1/2 hours. In my opinion, likely one of the best executive courses in the greater Phoenix area. Will definitely play there again.
Mountain Shadows Golf Course
Played On 3/20/2013A real challenge for your short irons. Not really an executive course with only one par 4 on each nine.
Course is in very nice condition and the greens were fast and undulating, making it difficult to score well. There's water on a few holes and lots of sand with many pin placements directly behind the bunkers. Definitely a challenge to one's short game and ability to use all wedges. Rate of play was excellent - 2 3/4 hours. One criticism is that many of the tee boxes are too close to the previous greens resulting in having errant tee shots whizzing by while on the tee box.
Rio Salado Golf Course
Played On 3/17/2013This is an executive 9 hole course, par 33 or 34 with the option of playing hole #8 as either a par 3 or a par 4. Greens are fast.
Course is in pretty decent condition although a couple of the tee boxes were sparse. With 3 sets of tee boxes you get to use most clubs in your bag but you definitely use your short irons a lot. Rate of play is good at 2 hours on a week-end. The pro shop attendant/starter looks "mean" but is super friendly and helpful. At $29 for 2 players with a power cart on the weekend, it was of really good value.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Cave Creek Golf Course.
