Great Potential

Great layout but more could be done to get the course in better shape. I found so many tight lies in the fairways. It seemed like they were cut as short as the greens and they were hard. The course needs to be watered. I rented clubs and the grips were so far gone that I had to use dirt and a little spit to get them tacky enough for every swing. Those are my only criticisms. The staff are friendly and the amenities are just fine.

One of the Best Courses

Old Hickory is one of the better courses I play on a regular basis. Once or twice during Spring/Summer and also Fall/Winter. The fees are a little higher than the rates we pay at our home course. But in the foursome I play with we think it's worth it. We treat ourselves to Old Hickory whenever We can. We play somewhere every Saturday of the year weather permitting. There was a lot of rain the week before we played so it was cart path only. But other than that the course was in good condition as they always keep it in shape.

Playable Course

This is the 2nd year in a row I've played Copperhead. Terrific course to play and perfect for my game (27 handicap). The fairways are wide and forced carries are all within reach. I played from the whites. The par 5 14th was the most intimidating tee shot for me. Having a longish forced carry with tall trees left and right before opening up to a wide fairway. Water is in play on many but not all holes. Speaking of water, the 13th hole is a bit of a challenge but not a daunting one and the wide fairway assures that all making it across will have good options on their approach shot. The land the course is built on is relatively low lying. But that being said there are elevation changes and they are used to good effect in fairways and around the greens. Greens were in good shape, large not giant with plenty of break both obvious and subtle. Some lies can be tight and balls hit low tend to run. It pays to know where the white stakes are before trying to get the most out of your hybrids or fairway woods. The staff were accommodating and friendly and the members I met were friendly. I also played on 12/28/2016.
