About
I would golf from sun up 'til sundown, 7 days a week if I could...and there have been a few times I've tried. I'm happiest on the golf course and teaching a beginner. It seems that the more I explain the fundamentals of golf to a beginner, the better my game gets because I'm trying practice what I preach. Women are the easiest to teach because they don't expect to drive the ball 300 yards and they get less frustrated than guys.

Eagle's Pointe Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2015A little bit pricey
We played behind a league that moved along quickly. There is a lot of wild life for us city boys to be wary of. It's a good course but a little bit pricey. I think the hot dogs we had at the turn were from the day before. They were cold, rubbery, and of course....expensive. The bottom line is that we liked the course and might try it again tomorrow. We'll avoid the hot dogs this time.
Holly Ridge Golf Course
Played On 10/17/2013Great place to build a golf course...some day.
I read the reviews on GolfNow before playing at Holly Ridge but I just couldn't pass up 18 holes with cart for $8.00. The lady working in the "pro shop" was friendly and had a sense of humor. She gave me a key to a cart and sent me on my way. I was pleased with the cart. It was probably only two years old, it was clean and electric. I found my way to the first tee and found out that at $8.00 I had over paid. The tee wouldn't qualify as rough on most courses. Fairways were undistinguishable from rough. There is a power line that bisects many of the fairways. The greens were small and relatively flat making three putts rare. The traps were like concrete. The pace of play could have been even quicker because the course is relatively short. Most of the par fours require only a pitching wedge for your second shot and big hitters can drive some of the greens. There was a five-some out there but they let me through as soon as they saw me. Play here only if it's the last course on the face of the earth and even then consider tennis first. The owner of this course needs to put some money into some grass seed and weed killer. Calling it a goat ranch would be an insult to goat herders everywhere.
The Currituck Club
Played On 10/13/2013Beautiful!
Even though today was overcast with occasional drizzle this course offered great views along with great golf. I got a terrific discount through GolfNow with a late tee time. I got there early and was able to start early. I started as a single but quickly caught up to a twosome that invited me to join them. By the third tee another single filled out our foursome. The pace of play was quick. The carts are electric with a large screen GPS that gives you plenty of information. This was such a nice course and such a great price that I'm playing there again tomorrow. This is a class operation.
Broken Arrow Golf Club - South/East
Played On 8/28/201327 holes with Willow Trees that mark hidden water hazards.
The course was in good shape and the ground crew was great about stopping their work for golfers to play through. The pro shop staff, the starter, the rangers, the cart girl, and the bartenders were all friendly and accomodating. This was my first trip to Broken Arrow but it certainly won't be may last. They have a reasonably priced annual package that I'm giving strong consideration to. If it was 20 minutes closer to my home the check would already be in the mail.
River Pointe Country Club - Red/White Course
Played On 7/24/2013Northwest Indiana's Best Kept Secret
I was a member of River Pointe when it was a private club and returning there was like going home. I played the Blue and White courses and found them to be in better shape now than they ever were when it was private. The new owner however is letting a great asset go to waste. The clubhouse is beautiful but closed.
