Towhee Club
Played On 07/03/2014Rough Conditions - Beware
SHORT TERM issues for sure, but this course is in VERY rough shape right now. Many fairways are torn up and unplayable, the greens have been aerated [should be more open about that with golfers when booking], and some tee-boxes are cooked bricks right now. Rough is mega thick also with the rain we've had in the area lately - and maybe a bit too high [you will lose balls in it].
They *are* working on the course, but it seems a bit strange to be doing it in July when golfing is at a premium? Maybe should have done the work in the spring when grass wasn't growing in the fairways like most other courses?
Great course, but I'd wait a few weeks before heading out there again. Your score and putting strokes will thank you.

Liked the layout of the course, especially parts of the front nine that you will experience height changes. #7 in particular is extremely challenging for the normal golfer [elevated narrow fairway]. Most of the fairways were okay, but need thicker grass and mowed a bit more often.
Greens were in pretty bad shape, some even having deadpan type areas on them [shut 'em down for a week or two and let a few get back to where they should be at a time]. Greens are also a good challenge undulation-wise. Would definitely play it again if the greens were a 7 or 8 out of 10 - right now they are about a 3 or 4. Not good.
Eagle Glen Golf Course

This is one of mid-Michigan's BEST maintained courses, with excellent greens and a moderate challenging layout. If you're looking for a quality round of golf, and want to enjoy the scenery and the course itself, this is one of a handful in the area I would recommend.
We appreciate the feedback and are always looking to improve the golf course. Right now we have sprigged 5 of our fairways in order to grow grass back on them. With bermuda grass you have to sprig in the hottest part of the summer for it to grow not the spring which is why we waited so long.
The roots have taken and we should be fully grown back in by the mid August. We have bent grass greens so we have not aerated this summer but we do knife our greens every couple of weeks to help the air flow and to kill off any diseases. It may look like they have been aerated that day but your ball will roll smooth and it will heal up in just a couple of days.
Because of the rougher course conditions we have discounted our prices. We are hoping to be back in full by mid August so we hope to see everyone out here again this year! Thank you for the patience this year.
