Gibson Bay Golf Course
Played On 07/16/2018Gibson Bay is awesome
I’ve played Gibson since the mid-90s and it remains one of my favorite courses, if not my favorite course, of all the courses in a 25 mile radius of Lexington. The tee boxes are in good shape, the fairways are beautiful and spongy, and the greens are fast and true. And no matter how hard of some of us may try, ur not gonna hit a house playing Gibson Bay. There’s numerous courses in, and around, Lexington that charge close to the same price, or even above, the price ur gonna pay at Gibson. Do urself a favor. Make the 18 minute drive from Hamburg and go play a beautiful course with a fantastic layout, that definitely has all the challenges and elevation changes and bends and water that u want in a Kentucky course. They just got done with a project where they created a nice size lake/pond that looks great now. I’m sure the new bridge area will be done soon as well. But I think it looks great compared to what it used to look like. Well done to whoever made that happen. Oh yeah, and the BBQ sandwich inside the pro shop is pretty dang good too.

Played with my Dad (which was his first time at the course) and we both enjoyed it. The front 9 moved much quicker than the back, as we literally had to wait on every hole to tee off, and all the grass needed cut, but the course over all was in really good shape. Greens were in great shape, tee boxes weren't beat up, and the fairways were also in good shape. I've played this course numerous times in scrambles, and this was maybe my 3rd time playing it for fun, but I enjoyed the course more yesterday than I ever have. It's way too pricey for normal play, especially on the weekends, but if u can find a Hot Deal to play there from GolfNow, it's more than worth it. We played for around $18, counting taxes. But I don't feel like it's worth over $60 on the weekends.
