Raven's Claw Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2021Awful Greens
I've played Raven's Claw several times. The course is usually in decent shape; however, the fairways and green seemed like they haven't been cut for days.
The course was dry so the storms from last week shouldn't have affected maintenance. The greens were aerated a few weeks ago; however, it is obvious they aren't being maintained.
The greens were longer than some fairways I've played (not an exaggeration) and were very bumpy with ball marks everywhere.
Bella Vista Golf Course
Played On 09/07/2020Has been in better shape.
Bella Vista is one of my favorite public courses in the Philly metro area. Unfortunately the conditions this year haven't been below what I typically expect from this course.
The pace of play was painfully slow. We teed off shortly after 3pm and didn't finish until after 7:30.
Atlantic City Country Club
Played On 08/31/2020Great Views / Worth the Money
There aren't many courses that are truly worth paying more than $100 for. This is one of them. The afternoon rate of $125 is worth every penny. The course is in good shape and has great views.
Rolling Green Golf Club
Played On 05/20/2020Keep the ball below the hole!
Whatever you do keep the ball below the hole. Pristine conditions with a difficult but fair layout. Some of the most undulating greens in PA.
Chambers Bay
Played On 10/25/2019Absolutely Amazing Views
There aren't many courses with views like Chambers Bay. The entire course over looks water. Course was in great shape and it was a great value at the afternoon greens fees.
Only thing it's missing is locker rooms.
Auburn Golf Course
Played On 10/10/2019Very cool golf course
Definitely worth the drive from the Philly area. I would have given the conditions 5* but the green side bunkers weren't in good shape.
Great views, good conditions and a fun layout, I'll definitely be back.
Glen Mills Golf Course
Played On 09/15/2019Conditions have been better
Course was in good shape, but the conditions have been better. The practice range was really rough. Still a great course and a very good value at $60 with the Sunday NFL special.
Phoenixville Country Club
Played On 08/26/2019Nice 9 hole course
Old style layout with undulating greens. Very enjoyable golf course and no two holes are the same. Technically they have a driving range but it's very short and narrow and right next to the parking lot. It's more of a short game practice area. Looking forward to playing there again.
Jeffersonville Golf Club
Played On 08/21/2019Best Value in the area
The township had been investing in the course and it shows. Much better conditions than most of the public courses in the area.
PineCrest Country Club
Played On 08/16/2019Awful conditions
I've played this course several times over the last 15+ years, today may have been my last. Conditions have deteriorated over the years and today was absolutely awful. Most of the Fairways were dead with no grass. I enjoy the layout, but it's not worth the money.
They recently aerated but didn't mention that when I made the tee time. The greens weren't to bad considering they were just poked.
The Links at Stono Ferry
Played On 08/09/2019Great views
Great course with very friendly staff. Really nice views on the back nine. Will definitely play again next time I'm in Charleston.
Mainland Golf Course
Played On 08/02/2019Don't expect much.
Greens were in decent shape, fairways were poor in some spots good in others. Blue tee boxes are in rough shape. Some of the bunkers are maintained and some seem like they haven't been touched all season.
Hot dogs are really good and staff is friendly.
Woodcrest Country Club
Played On 07/31/2019Fun course but greens fees way too high
This is a former private club that allows public tee times. It has all the amenities you would expect with a very friendly staff.
The golf course has an interesting layout and no two holes are similar. The conditions were decent but not worth the $105 greens fee.
I would definitely play again if the rates were lower.
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
Played On 07/19/2019Could be a 5*
Played this course while visiting friends. Unfortunately they area had a lot of storms recently which effected the conditions. Greens rolled nice. The course has some great views and the staff is very nice. Would definitely play again.
Linfield National Golf Club
Played On 08/22/2016Awful, what happened?
I've played this course many times over the years and I know the owners have been trying to improve the course but....
The back nine was closed for aeration, so we had to play the front nine twice, which we were NOT told about when we booked our tee time. To me this is a crime. If you are aerating that should be the first thing you say when you pick up the phone. Few things get me angrier, and there are courses I won't go back to because of this.
When we got on the course it was some of the worst conditions I've every played in my life. I know the weather has been rough on local courses recently, but there are plenty of other courses that are able to maintain good conditions. My back yard is in better shape. The fairways weren't much better than the tee boxes (see picture). The greens were poor and the majority of sandtraps looked like they hadn't been touched by maintenance in days, if not weeks.
When we stopped at the clubhouse after our first 9 the guy working behind the bar was on the phone for at least 5 minutes before acknowledging us, and there were no dogs left.
I'm not sure I'll be back here again until I hear from actual people, not fake reviews, that the conditions are better.
WoodsonGoBlue,
We regret to see you did not have as good of a round as expected this time around. We apologize for not letting you know over the phone that we had just aerated the course. We hope you give us another shot soon.
Best regards,
Linfield National Golf Management
Jeffersonville Golf Club
Played On 08/19/2016Best Value Course in PA
Jeffersonville is always in good, but not great condition. That is partially due to the amount of play this course gets. The fairways are always in good shape and the greens typically have a consistent roll, but are a little on the slower side. This is one of my favorite courses in the area, including private clubs and is the best value in PA.
Stanwich Club
Played On 08/08/2016Amazing
Everything about this place is first class. It was the most enjoyable round of golf I've ever had, and I didn't even play that well. The greens may be faster than the tour. If it wasn't for our caddy, I would have putted the ball off the green on half the holes.
Linfield National Golf Club
Played On 10/10/2015Going back downhill.
I've always enjoyed this layout and I thought the new owners were trying to improve the conditions. Unfortunately, the conditions have gotten worse. The staff is friendly and the hot dogs are great, but the course is sub-par. The greens were in decent shape but the fairways were an absolute mess with plenty of bare spots. By comparison, Bella Vista is a four-star course, this is nowhere near Bella Vista.
Lederach Golf Club
Played On 09/25/2015LOOOOONG Round.
I've played this course many times and it is usually in good condition; however, this was the worst condition I've ever seen it. Typically this is a 4* course, but right now it is a 3*. Also they had way to many golfers on the course. We had a 1pm tee time for two. Their website showed only one tee time taken from 12pm to 1pm, as of 11:15am. We got there early to try and get out earlier. There was no starter and we were the fourth group waiting at the first tee at 12:45. Our round took 5:10, way too long. A ranger finally came out to us at the 14th hole (which had a group on the green, a group on the tee and us waiting behind them) to apologize. This is one of my favorite courses in the area, but I don’t have time for a 5+ hour round. Not sure I’ll be back until they can improve the pace of play.
Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club
Played On 10/19/2014Better courses for the same amount of money in the area.
I've played this course many times over the years, and have also played just about every course with in an hour of King of Prussia. Fairways seemed like they hadn't been cut in a few days and the greens were very shaggy and sloooowwww. Other than a 18 (which is a very difficult drive), it is an interesting layout that requires accuracy off the tee to score well. The variety of holes is enjoyable.
There was a very slow threesome holding up the course, but eventually we played through on the back nine and had a great pace after that. At $35 on golfnow for an afternoon tee time it was worth it, but full price is way too high.
Thank you for the review. We have been working on the bunkers, it is a long job, so many more have been addressed since you have played. Hope to see you back soon.
