Mariners Landing Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/02/2014Nice staff/Poor conditions
Small facility with small clubhouse but staff was friendly. Got a good deal on Golfnow.com so it wasn't too bad of an experience. The course layout and some holes were fun with one par three on the lake that was pretty cool, some many par 5's on the back. Conditions of the tees and fairways were some of the worst I have seen in the area. Greens were super slow but fairly plush and soft. Pace was ok since it wasn't busy at all.

The drive is worth it and it is a great value. Play all day with cart, lunch and range balls for $50?!
The good: One of the funnest and most beautiful layouts you will play in the state. Lots of tees dramatically change the challenge of the course. The bent grass fairways and greens are gorgeous and in great shape. I played at The Greenbrier last week and in my opinion these greens and fairways were better. Greens are true and fast. Nice bent grass range has a large hitting area. Not crowded at all and pace of play is great. Staff is very friendly.
The Not so Good: Cool old house serves as the clubhouse but tiny pro shop and a very small bathroom. They do have a small kitchen with rather good sandwiches and friendly service but it is not fancy. Bunkers are fair but not nearly the pristine conditions of the fairways and greens. Location is not ideal but is definitely worth the drive.
If you are in the central Virginia area you should check this course out! It is a gem.
