Stockley Park Golf
Played On 01/03/2022Slow but enjoyable round
Despite the recent wet weather, Stockley Park were not operating a trolley ban (unlike most other local pay and play courses). What they are doing to mitigate course damage is roping off large areas of fairway and around the greens - that makes total sense.
I was prepared for a slow round - SP notoriously slow plus it was a Bank Holiday - lots of two-balls and the course still needs a marshal to speed things up.
Greens in good nick (as usual) and fairways not too bad considering time of year.
Harefield Place Golf Club - Uxbridge Golf Course
Played On 07/13/2020Excellent value !
Although Uxbridge is only 12 holes (and has been for many years), there is stil a lot to enjoy here :
. the sloping fairway on the 1st, to attack a small green.
- the elevated tee to the par 3 2nd
- the driveable (but not by me) short 3rd
- the 2 big slogs uphill for the long par 4 holes 6 &12
- the 'big dip' and then uphill to the par 5 8th hole
- the precision required on the drive for the dog leg 10th
Course was in great condition and I would recommend this course for a pleasant round. if not too challenging.
Surrey Downs Golf Club
Played On 11/30/2019Lovely course - would recommend !
I had never played 'Surrey Downs' previously but when the opportunity came along on a dry, bright November afternooon, I took the chance.
Quite an open course and undulating as you would expect - this gave some great views. Some conditions underfoot were a little wet but, bearing in mind all the rain in the last month, it played well. The greens were excellent. and the sand in the bunkers nice and fluffy.
The course was not very busy and I was joined by a friendly member (Richard) from hole 9, which was very pleasant. This was handy as some of the holes are quite severe doglegs or require blind shots to the green.
Richard kept saying I should return in the summer, when the course will be better and I will certainly take his advice !
