Quail Ridge Country Club
Played On 07/27/2020Fun course, recovering from aeration
I recently played Quail Ridge. I enjoyed my round. Good variety of hole layouts. Fairway landing areas were generous. Will play here again.
I would have rated this course higher but it was evident that greens and fairways were recently aerated and had not fully recovered yet. With that said, fairway lies were really good, no excuses for missing approach irons. Once the fairways and greens bounce back this course wlll be a little gem.
Oyster Reef Golf Course
Played On 04/09/2017Good layout, friendly staff
Played Oyster Reef twice within 3 days. Both times staff were friendly and welcoming. The course layout has several doglegs. Hitting a driver is not required on every tee shot. I really enjoyed playing this course because it required shot shaping and shot placement. The par 5's (from the white tees) are reachable in two shots if you are accurate. If you're not, bring your pail and shovel because you'll be spending lots of time "on the beach". Have your camera ready for the par 3 sixth hole...great looking hole. The course was in good shape. They've done a great job in recovering the course from the impact of Hurricane Matthew.
Old South Golf Links
Played On 04/08/2016Terrific Layout
This was my first round at Old South. I really liked the layout of the course. Each hole was different from the previous hole and no predictor of the next hole. The layout required you to consider shot placement to be in position for the next shot. Even on the relatively "straight" holes there might be a tree in the middle of the fairway or a raised green with a strategically placed bunker in front. Lots of fun to play!
The Club at Savannah Harbor
Played On 04/06/2016Open fairways, Windy day
This was my first round at the Club at Savannah Harbor. The course was in excellent condition: greens, fairways, and tee boxes. Fairways were generously wide and some greens were oversized. Because many of the holes are tree-less, play can be affected when the wind kicks up (as it did on the day I played). Even so, I enjoyed my round and would play here again
Hilton Head National Golf Club
Played On 04/05/2016Good course, Well bunkered
This was my first round at HHN. It was a beautiful day for golf. I found the greens and fairways to be in excellent condition. Strangely, the teeboxes were a bit scruffy, almost like a first cut of rough. Even so, the course is pretty straightforward, right in front of you. The front nine is a good warmup, the back nine requires more shot making, strategy. Overall, definitely worth playing and a bargain compared to actually playing on HHI.

Oak Valley Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2016Good layout, fast greens
This was my first time at Oak Valley. I really liked the course layout. Many holes had undulating fairways. You need to think about tee shot placements and distances before you just pull your driver and try to wham it. The greens were in good shape but fast. Fairways and tee boxes certainly showed the effects of the water drought in SoCal. Even so, this was a fun course to play and will do so again. BTW, if you're a bit erratic, bring a few extra golf balls.
Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon - Champions Course
Played On 02/23/2016Disappointing visit
Played this course 2 days after the Symmetra Tour tournament. I expected the course to be pristine, however found it to be quite the opposite. Tee boxes and fairways were patchy, dormant, with some bare patches. Greens were ok, nothing special. Pace of play was slow. There seemed to be lots of rounds being played and not enough staff to deal with everything. I don't know what course the other reviewers who gave it 4 stars played but it didn't seem like 4 stars to me...3 at best. Decent layout but not a very satisfying experience.
Southern Hills Plantation
Played On 12/18/2015Memorably Excellent
This is a beautiful and memorable golf course. The layout was challenging but fair. The course was in terrific condition considering it was the middle of December. This was my first time playing the course so I was at a bit of a disadvantage regarding some of the blind second shots...however, I still loved playing the course!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. Your feedback is greatly appreciated. We are glad our course could create a memorable experience for you and hope to see you again on your next visit.
The Golf Club at North Hampton
Played On 03/13/2015Really Good Layout, Not in Great Shape
Played on a day when there was a sudden downpour half way through the round. The layout of the course is challenging and strategic shot placement is critical. Several holes look terrific to this golfer's eyes! However, I have some concerns about the course conditions. Right now the fairways and tee boxes are still mostly dormant with lots of irregular patches. Also, a number of greens were grass-bare (lots of areas where there seemed to be more dirt than grass). I would hope that as Spring approaches these concerns will be resolved and the conditions will improve. This could easily be a 5 star course if the fairways, greens, and tee boxes are groomed to a higher quality.
Waldorf Astoria Golf Club
Played On 03/12/2015Course in Great Shape
Played WA for the first time. Very welcoming at complimentary valet parking, pro shop and starter. Played as a single but went out with three other singles.Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in terrific condition. Fairways in particular were lush, green, and carpet like...what a treat! Fairways are generous on most holes with bunkers strategically placed from each set of tee markers. This is not the most challenging of courses, however, I appreciated playing a course in primo condition.
The Club Renaissance
Played On 03/11/2015Good course, Good Value
Played Renaissance for the first time. The course has several holes with challenging layouts that required thoughtful shot selection and placement. Most of the fairways were generous but there were a few holes where avoiding the water was a challenge. The greens were definitely rolling slowly on the day I played. All in all this is a good, fun course to play.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 03/10/2015Really good course
I played WW Pine Barrens. The course has some unique features: fairways are lined with tall pine trees, lots of waste areas, no sand traps, and surprising elevation changes. The course was definitely challenging for a first time player, however, most of the fairways are generous so there was a fair degree of forgiveness for the offline shot. Greens rolled well but had subtle breaks that a first timer would not be aware of. This place is about the golf, not the ambiance or the clubhouse (definitely tired looking).
The Club at Eaglebrooke
Played On 03/09/2015Good course in good condition
Played this course for the first time. Good layout with with a number of challenging holes. I was fortunate to play with two members who gave me several "heads up" about shot placements, especially for the 17th hole. Course was in good condition and was a good test of golf.
Glad the members gave you some great pointers! We hope you become a regular at Eaglebrooke
Atlantic National Golf Club
Played On 01/16/2015Excellent Layout, Good Challenge
This was my first time playing at Atlantic National. I was impressed by the variety of holes and the pleasing look of each hole. This course is a really good test of golf and very enjoyable to play. Most holes required some strategic thought about shot placement for next shot. Greens ran true and smooth. Water was in play on many holes but not in a gimmicky way. If you are not familiar with the course I strongly suggest looking carefully on tee at the cart GPS display for shot placement. Will absolutely look forward to playing this course again!
Heron Bay Golf Course
Played On 01/15/2015Good Layout, Lots of Sand
This was my first time playing Heron Bay. Fairways were generously wide. An overabundance of sand bunkers dominates this course. There are some variances in the quality and maintenance of bunkers. My overall impression of this course was that the tee boxes, fairways, and rough were maintained at a disappointing standard. Even so, this is a challenging course that requires you to think out your shots (take the sand out of play) and be very accurate as you attack the greens (surrounded by sand). I would definitely play this course again but next time try to place my shots more carefully. With some TLC this course could look like a PGA championship course.
Martin Downs Country Club - Osprey Creek Course
Played On 01/14/2015Good Layout, Enjoyable Round
This was my first time playing at Martin Downs. The overall conditions were good. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in good condition. Most fairways were generously wide. Greens were a bit fast but rolled true. Enjoyed the round. Would play this course again.
Sarasota National Golf Club
Played On 01/13/2015Fun Course, Looks Great
This was my first time playing at Sarasota National. Fairways were generously wide and in very good condition. Greens were smooth...pin placements did not yield too many straight putts. Lots of birds (not birdies) to be seen on the property and the occasional gator or two (not in play). This is a really good looking course that's fun to play...will definitely play it again.
Madison Green Country Club
Played On 01/25/2014Course ok...don't expect to be welcomed
The course was ok...greens were fast...don't recall having a straight/flat putt, everything seemed to have a break at the hole. Also, placing your tee shot in the fairway usually not rewarded due to rolling mounds and uneven stances. Not sure I would play here again. Got a grunt for a greeting at bag drop...check-in staff barely looked up at me when I went into pro shop...starter was gruff, abrupt...
Palm Beach National Golf Course
Played On 01/24/2014Fun course ... friendly staff
This course has generous fairways and greens...Par 3 third hole is an "island" green ... 18th hole requires hitting over water (reasonable)...all in all a fun day of golf without worrying about losing lots of golf balls. Most noteworthy is the friendliness of staff in the pro shop and on the staff....received a warm welcome even though it was the first time I played here.
Hammock Creek Golf Club
Played On 01/22/2014Fun round of golf
Hammock Creek presents a good balance of generous fairways and greens with strategic golf. The front nine in particular requires you to consider where to place your tee shot to avoid water and have clear second shots to the green.
