Avila Beach Golf Resort
Played On 03/12/2022Cow Pasture with horrible pace of play
I’m not one to bash courses but this only seems fitting. Picture of course is definitely not current or close to true. I jokingly call it a cow pasture but I think a Billy Goat would starve at this course. The staff was super friendly but the course was overbooked with very slow playing golfers. Someone needed to either space the times out better or have a ranger out to increase pace of play. Driving range was a joke, hey hit balls into the side of this mountain.
On to the good things. Staff was super nice, in all aspects. The restaurant at the turn and the scenery of the ocean was super cool. But I was there for golf and this place is not a place for that. Sadly this was not a place I would recommend to others.
Little Mountain Country Club
Played On 07/21/2018Steady decline
This course used to be a gem but apparently they aren’t investing in the course anymore. Tee boxes were hard as a rock, rough was patchy and burnt out, fairways were underwhelming. Greens and bunkers were finally in good shape again. On course restrooms were closed and replaced with port o potties. Overall this was very sad to see, this course has a great design but poor management and no investment in the course was evident. Many better courses around for the same or less than little mountain charges. Jimmy Hanlin should be ashamed to have his name tied to this course.

Punderson State Park Golf Course
Played On 09/19/2015Above Average Course Condition/Horrible Customer Service
The course was in average to slightly above average condition but the senior citizen running the counter was absolutely horrible. Two of our three people arrived 45 minutes early and checked in our threesome due to an work emergency our third notified us he would be unable to make our 1:37 tee time, notification came 30 minutes prior to our tee time. I went in and checked with the girl at the counter if it would be an issue to tee off 15-20 minutes late. She said no problem there was no one else booked behind us and I started to walk out and the senior citizen jumps in and says we must tee off within 15 minutes or our scheduled time or we forfeit our round and have to pay again. Telling me that is their policy and that he doesn't care about people who use golf now because he nor the course see any money on golf now tee times. After having an exchange of words with the gentlemen he finally offered to have us tee off 15 minutes late and to let the other gentlemen drive out and meet us on the second hole. His overall reasoning was golf now people and I quote, "think they can do whatever they want and show up whenever they want and that out of 800 golf now tee times 40 have been late." This was my first time using golf now at this course mind you. But this was just the first half of the issues at Punderson and with this crotchety old man. Let me preface I understand meeting your time is important but didn't understand why it was fine if it wasn't booked with golf now and why it was a major problem once he saw we booked via golf now. Once we finally got going after making the turn came a downpour for about 45 minutes to an hour. We waited out the rain under some trees and drove in after the rain slowed down. He then said we would not be offered rain checks since we booked with golf now. And anything related to that had to be done through GN. I call golf now while in the proshop and golf now calls the course to inquire about the rain and see what the issue was. He goes on to tell them that it drizzled for a moment but the course was open and taking tee times. Mind you, he said this to stop us from getting a rain check. Golfnow then returns to my call and says the course says they are open but states something didn't sound right and was going to help us out. As I am talking to her the other two golfers say to the guy, you could have handled that better and he says i looked you guys up and you have never played here before and won't be missed. He clearly doesn't understand that we were trying the course out to see if we wanted to make it a regular course in our rotation. After I complete my call with golf now he says to our group. The course is still open and carts are open to use the fairways if we wanted to go back out because golf now wouldn't offer a raincheck since they were still open. He says this not knowing they assisted us. So we go out and attempt to finish the round out of pure spite and dealt with rivers in the fairways and streams on the greens. Overall, as you can see this was not a very positive experience and it is very unfortunate because we enjoyed the first 9 before the rain hit and we would have starting playing there regularly had it not been for this man. So my advice to you all is if you like to play a long and somewhat fair course and don't mind terrible customer service play at Punderson. If you like playing a normal or above average course that actually appreciates your business I would recommend any other course in the state of Ohio.
Grantwood Golf Course
Played On 07/05/2014Nothing to brag about
After reading previous reviews I had my hopes up. Though the course was not in bad shape it wasn't impressive either. If you could get this course for under $30 I would say it's worth it but not at $39.
