Bradford Highlands Golf Club
Played On 10/18/2017Nice course, usually good value
Course is a moderate layout with good greens that are usually faster than I expect (watch out for downhill putts). Course is a good layout with an unusually hilly hole at #7. It's being encroached by housing; when I played in October 2017, the par 5 11th was being played as a par 3. Hopefully the property will continue as a golf course for years to come.
Innisfil Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/21/2017Nice course, maturing well
This is a tight course, especially the front 9. Lots of water hazards and "natural" areas to watch out for. Greens are on the small side and bunkering is good. Course conditions are quite good and the property is well maintained. The layout is odd for the first 6 holes, after which it's a decent layout, although none of the par 4s are over 400 yards, and only 2 are over 380.
I like Innisfil as a practice layout. Got a deal online before going to the course, so the cost with cart on a weekday can be under $40. An 18-hole round often takes less than 3 hours.
Shawneeki Golf Club
Played On 06/01/2017A Course to Return to
Shawneeki's a good track in a rural setting that's usually in good condition, although I've found some greens to be too firm to hold a mid-iron shot or longer. Layout is interesting, with water affecting play on 9 or 10 holes. Gentle hills for most of the course except #12 and #13, which go into and out of a valley. #13 is a funky hole with a pond in the fairway and a significantly uphill approach shot. Reasonable greens fees can be had by booking online.
Innisfil Creek Golf Course
Played On 07/12/2016Course maturing well
The course is tight, especially the front 9. Plenty of water hazards and bunkers, and there are also "natural" areas to watch out for. Greens are on the small side. Course conditions were quite good and the property is well maintained. I could not hit driver on any of the par 4s on the front 9, but could do on the 3 par 4s on the back.
The layout is odd between certain holes.
I liked my round.....started at 8:15 and finished in less than 3 hours (on a Tuesday). Fees are reasonable and deals can be found online.
Bradford Highlands Golf Club
Played On 06/15/2016Nice course, usually good value
I've played Highlands 5 to 10 times in the past few years. The layout has a good mix of holes, quite fair for the most part. Greens have been in good shape, reasonable sizes and can run quick. Compared to other GTA courses, the value for money is usually good, too.
Heritage Hills Golf Club
Played On 08/30/2014Great value just north of Barrie
My rating is a bit harsh, only because their facilities are lacking. That said, Heritage Hills offers a good round of golf for a good price. The course starts off with 6 holes through forested grounds, then opens up into "links style" holes which cross a deep ravine four times. I played the blue tees, from which the course is just under 6,400 yards. Greens undulate quite a bit. Practice facilities are pretty good, too.
Simoro Golf Links
Played On 07/27/2014Good value course
Overall, I like this place. Holes on the front 9 tend to be more wide open, while the back gets narrow on several holes. Some greens should be bigger, but they have been in good shape. The problem is that Simoro is marshy in some places, and it detracts from the quality of the course.
Hey "PKTaylor" thanks for the review! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our course layout and conditions. We hope to see you back again soon for your next round.
