Cancun CC is a jungle beauty!!

This is a massive property with tons of natural beauty: lush green jungle, natural ponds & rock formations that make for a lovely setting.
The course is in very good shape. It is well maintained. There are some rough patches on a few greens but very few. The fairways are wide & generous and it’s tough to get into trouble off the tee. However, there are strategic bunkers and some of the greens are small & tough to hold with plenty of bunker protection. It’s a good challenge. Some of the waste bunkers are rock & gravel and very beautiful, but rugged.
You’ll need a good approach to hit many of the greens in regulation. It’s not long from the white tees - 6300 - but it can be very windy at times and plays tough when it’s blowing.

I visit Cancun every Feb and usually play Cancun CC. I get it on Golf Now or Tee Off for $100-$135.
Other amenities include beverage carts on the course, a very nice clubhouse with a pro shop, locker room, showers & a grill to get a bite to eat. They also have a range + short game & putting green area but this is the only negative at CCC. The practice range is I n poor condition. It is beat up, the range balls are dirty and many are damaged. It’s adequate to warm up but not at all on par with the rest of this lovely property.
It is near he airport, approx 20 mins from the middle of the Hotel Zone.

Overall I give it high marks and will continue to play it when I’m here.

Cheers,
Bob L.

Lake Bluff Golf Course

Nice course, in great shape, not very difficult, not exceptionally challenging, nothing fancy but solid. There’s a driving range and a putting green so you can warm up. Small bar & restaurant in the clubhouse.
Definitely worth a round.

Schaumburg Golf Club

Schaumburg GC is a nice course, a good test for all and in good condition. One of their 3 mines is under repair and not open for play so be aware if you’re looking for 27. The 18 holes that are open are very good.
The practice range is solid and the clubhouse , pro-shop and Chandlers restaurant are first class. The staff is great!

White Pinea East Course

The East course is in excellent shape!! They have done a very good job surviving our stubborn winter and getting the course ready for the season. The hole positions for the day were innaccurate and did not correspond to the map but the greens are not huge anyway so it was not an issue. There was a maintainence crew on one hole, removing an old dead tree, that showed no regard for the golfers on the course by blocking the cart path, leaving tools sprawled all around and acting like they were at the beach on vacation. But other then that, it was a great experience. I got lucky and played it when there were only a few others out there. I flew around and finished in less than 3 hours. I give White Pines East high marks and would recommend it as a great value for the price and good test of skill.

Randall Oaks

Randall Oaks is great little course tucked away in the far NW Suburbs. Definitely worth the drive as they have everything you could want. From 18 challenging & picturesque holes to a great practice area and range. There's even a kids course attached for the wee little ones to get started on the game. The clubhouse, bar and restaurant are very nice and sitting on the deck overlooking #18 is a fine way to finish the day. There are several really fun holes with blind shots. The short par 4's are my favorite ones and require a smart strategy and target accuracy.

BLT

Wolf Hollow is neat course and a great value under $20. I wouldn't pay full fare. The elevated tee boxes provide beautiful views of the rolling farm land. The blind shots are challenging, fair and fun. The course is open enough on many holes to spray it and still score but there's plenty of difficult holes as well that make it legit.
Bring bug spray! If the nets are swarming you'll need it or it will ruin your round.

BLT

Stoney Creek is a solid muni in great shape. It's very short, only par 65, but very challenging. Don't be fooled by the lack of length and numerous par 3 because the greens are tough!! It's a challenge, lots of fun holes. They also have a driving range and restaurant bar with great burgers & a nice patio. It's a great value for the $$.

Schaumburg Golf Club = SLOW GOLF

Only 18 of the 27 holes at Schaumburg were open, they were aerating the Tournament course, which is the best of the 3 nines. That should have been noted on the booking page.

The course is in great shape except the green were shaggy and very slow to putt. The pace of play was awful! There was 4 some of older women that held up everybody and to make matters worse, nobody from the course did anything to move them along. Anybody that's ever been behind a 4 some of older ladies knows what this does to the pace of play.
Also, the 4 some in front of us had 3 carts and one guy walking... UGH!
Check in was odd, there were 2 guys in the Pro Shop & neither seemed all that interested in helping or answering any questions. Neither bothered to offer a greeting (Facebook is too important?).
Both were staring at their cell phones when we came in. One of them, the gentlemen with tats all over his arm, seemed downright bothered by the fact that we booked through GolfNow.com.
The Golf service was very poor.
The clubhouse is very nice, the restaurant/bar is beautiful and the food is very good. Several TV's to view and good prices.

Hi blanigan66,

Thanks for taking the time to write a review about Schaumburg Golf Club. We are sorry that the tournament was under aerification. That rotation wasn’t open that day. We have recently aerified the whole course which is why you may have found the greens a little shaggy and a little slow to put. We are sorry you were behind a slow group, we understand how important pace of play is for all players. We actually took action to try to speed them up. We are sorry to hear about the lack of attention in the Proshop, we try to train our staff to be as professional as possible. We hope to see you back soon.

Regards,
SGC Staff
