Overall good experience at UPCC. The course was in great shape and it is well maintained. Amenities such as cool towels were offered on a hot day which was a nice touch. My main review is based on the overall style of the course. It lacked any truly distinctive holes. The vast majority involved a relatively straight forward hole with only the occasional fairway bunker to hinder the tee-shot. The course offers a handful of interesting shots but overall the holes all blended together.

This was my second time playing at Lakewood National Golf Club. One time playing the new Piper course. I loved the original Commander course. The staff and experience at Lakewood Ranch is first rate. But the Piper course is not up the the same quality as the Commander course RIGHT NOW. I have no doubt it will be once the course finishes growing in but the course should recognize that and give a discount on the rate until things even out. There’s obvious wear and tear on the tee boxes and fairways from heavy use on new grass. The front nine was largely in the middle of an active construction zone. The back nine had a better layout and at least had some conversation nature areas to appreciate. Playing as a single took a solid 4 hours for 18 hrs. Never saw a ranger to move play along. Didn’t take cards anywhere on the Piper. Overall would rather play the Commander course until Piper matures.

Loved the layout of this course. Every hole is a challenge with water in play in nearly every shot. Course did have some minor landscaping issues (burned grass, spotty tee boxes) but it didn’t detract from the play. Definitely will play again!

Best course I’ve played in the Bradenton/Sarasota area. Course condition was excellent. Greens are getting ready for season but still tricky enough to challenge. Can’t wait to play again.

Second time playing UPCC. I was reluctant to go back after the first time out due to the unimaginative course design and less than friendly staff. I should have listened to my instinct. Bag drop and pro shop were fine but starter was super rude. My dad and I were exactly on time to our tee time but the starter yelled at us for being “really late”. Starter continued to yell at us and told us how we were holding people up. Finally got to the first tee, where the other nice twosome were waiting for us, to find THREE foursomes on the first hole. Why did the starter have to yell at us as paying customers for no reason whatsoever? I’ll save my money and play elsewhere.
