Extremely Disappointing

For it started with poor customer service. I arrived early as a guest of a member. Without even saying hello the older gentleman working the pro shop did not speak or or even say hello. When I gave him the name of member friend he asked me "Do you have a member #?" I did not and told him I would retrieve from my member friend who was on his way. No friendly smile no nothing. Went to go use the men's room only to find its access coded (yes access coded), you need the code to just use the mens room. When started to play I literally shock to see SO MANY BROWN PATCHES ON THE FAIRWAYS (although #1 is deceiving and manicured). As we played the burnt fairway and uneven grass on the green became annoying to the point I told my member friend we should have played else. THIS PLACE DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE PRIVATE. I have played at some of the finest courses on the planet and one of the greatest in Arizona desert, The Phoenician, AND YOU NOT FIND 1 BURNT FAIRWAY or brown patches anywhere on it (and its in the desert). On top of that the greens are lush and manicure, not uneven with patches of grass here and there. Quiet simply had I actually paid for the round I would have left earlier. I played The Woodlands / Diamond Ridge in the Woodlawn and area and the conditions and friendliness of the staff was 100% better and you didn't need an access code to use the men's room.

You WILL NOT FIND a better simulator facility in the valley. BARNONE

This place is topnotch in every aspect. For beginners its a great place to get instant feedback (I know I was there when it opened). You also have great instructors and outstanding staff who TRULY know golf. I have brought several individuals there of different skill level and each of them agree this place is cut above any facility they have played in. The variation in courses, now I believe is above 100, as well as the instant feedback is truly what separates it from the competition (TopGolf). I am a FAN FOR LIFE.

Cap City....its officially my home course now.

I've been in the area for about 8 months and live only 6 blocks from Tumwater GC, but I can truly say CapCity is my golf course of choice. Of the service guys ZACH is the DA MAN, Always greets with a smile and can do attitude. Even the Marshall's doing what they can to speed up play helps as well. It is truly the driest course in the Olympia/Tumwater area The course is always in pristine condition. Hats off to the groundskeepers, wait staff at Fire Creek, and overall management..

I'm not so sure why everyone seems to be impressed here?

I had a few problems with:

1) The conditions of the fairways and greens. #1 seem to be a temp green, as you could not distinguish the fairway from the green, and the green was in direct route of golfer's teeing off 18. They literally had to wait until I finished the hole to tee off.
2) More disappointing and above all, was finding out this is a STRICTLY WALKING course. Unfortunately that was not explained to me or mentioned from the 3rd party I booked the tee through, until I got down to the range and asked for the location of carts. I was told then that in order to get a cart a note from doctor would have to faxed over. Considering I have titanium in my back the excitement of being there quickly died.
3) I attempted to play the front, but the pain was unbearable by the time I reached #5. This course is not for anyone with metal in their body. However the pro shop (great people) did allow me to return any time and asked that a note from my doctor be faxed in order to use the carts.
4) The staff were great. Essentially their player assistants (marshals) provided me a ride to each hold to cut down on the walking and pain.
5) For the holes I did play there was a lot of "under construction areas." And I realized they are preparing for the Open next year, but I was not expecting the amount of work including netting on #4 (just in front of the green at the top of the hill).
5) The course is located on trail, so expect skateboards, "Dude Perfect" noise, and kids when you are at the tee box, and in some cases on the green putting.

The previous day I played NewCastle, which has unbelievable views of Seattle from afar, bagpipe playing at sunset, a great staff, and extremely lush greens and fairways. My expectation was even higher for Chambers Bay. I will attempt again with a cart and provide a follow up review as well.

FIRE YOUR GREENSKEEPER NOW!

1. Fairways and Greens were in horrendous shape.

Troon or OB Sports please come here and show these guys how to keep up their lawn. The mountain views were incredible, but he low up keep on the fairways (weeds and crab grass all over the place) took away from the beauty of this place.

2. Customer Service
Hate to sound like a Golf Elitetess, but there is certain level of expectations when you enter a gated community golf course. I was suprised there was no attendant at the bag drop and we had to load our own bags on the cart. In addition there was no starter or range marshal (we had a 2 some cut in front of us on the back 9).

3. Equipment Malfunction / Good Customer Follow up

Our cart begin to lose power at 12. This may seem like a small issue but unfortunately this course is designed in the mountains. We had to push the cart for at 4 holes uphill, which delayed play. We attempted to call the clubhouse but because of the mountain area there was no cell availability. The 3 some behind us was nice enough to give up one of their carts after seeing us strugling. When we returned to the clubhose the manager was understanding of the situation and provided us with another round for free.

This was golf outing weekend for my 50th birthday and we had just come in from Palm Springs (JW Desert Springs Golf Course and SilverRock). This was the 2nd leg of the trip which also include Trump National in LA. I saw the rating on CR, but chose to ignore them. After seeing how bad the grounds were I would be in full agreement that it rates a 3.0 vs. 5.0 it could be if they FIRED THEIR GREENSKEEPER and got somebody in there to make it a top notch facility, which I believe it could be.
