I like Orange Tree. It’s one of my favorite local courses. However, it was 108 in Scottsdale today and all of the drinking water coolers were empty. I can only pack so much water with me and this something I expect them to be on top of during the summer in AZ. Other than that, I had a good time.

Starfire is a decent course. Not in the top half of course around here, but I play it because it is close to home. Anyway, I will never play there again. I was solo and got placed with a group do three that was a hit slow. The ranger came and spoke with us and we did our best to pick up the pace. He was very cool about it. As we made the turn to the back 9 the starter was a different story. He was basically berating us as we went by. I don’t pay good money to play a round and then get treated like that. Oh well, the course will survive but they won’t get my business anymore.

I understand it is the middle of the summer, but with it being the Biltmore I expect the greens and course to be in better shape. The greens were weedy and really bumpy. The course itself is a good layout, so hopefully it will be in better condition if I play it again. Unfortunately for them there are a ton of choices here in the Valley, so I won’t be back soon. Not worth the price. There are a dozen courses I can think of that are half the price and better maintained.
