Oak Lane Golf Course
Played On 06/05/2021Lake Doster Golf Club
Played On 05/24/2014Really fun course LOTS of elevation change
Really liked this course and I wish I had played it years ago. I love elevation change and holes in a variety of terrain and Lake Doster has it. Course knowledge is definately helpful, but with a SkyCaddie and the yardage book it was enough to get by. I drove 80 miles to play and will definately be back this year. The staff here was hands down the friendliest and nicest out of any course I've played in years. They were some younger guys and girls working and unfortunately I don't have any of their names. There was no one thing in particular that they did better than other courses. Its just not being as dissmissive and grumpy as seemingly every other course employee I've encountered. Good guys difficult course I'll be back.
Indian Hills Golf Course
Played On 05/23/2014Nice short 9 holer
Really cool location and they take care of the course well. This is definately better to walk here and enjoy the setting. Great proshop as well. Good place to bring clubs in for any work.
Maple Brook Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2014Now called "Maple Brook" and is open to the public ....
It's a nine hole private club turned public, in 2014 I think. I walked and played white tees. It's in better than average condition and had 9 very different holes. I would definitely come play again. It's not overly long, but I don't look for that in a course anyways. It's just a pretty neat 9 holer worth checking out.
Pierce Lake Golf Course
Played On 05/08/20141hr. 15min. drive .... WELL WORTH IT.
Just played this course for the first time today. I would have played this course a few times by now if I knew about it. Really interesting holes many different types and open, through woods, neighborhoods ect. Very fun and only one temporary green on the whole course (#2). They have nice electric carts and is walkable. The only thing that is a negative is the lack of driving range. I'll be back again for sure.
Centennial Acres - Sunrise/Midday
Played On 05/01/20143x9's and great greens.
I'm a big fan of Centennial Acres. It's got a good variety of holes between the three nines, also helps in getting out faster if it's busy. There's more elevation change than most area courses which is a plus. It's got a couple of open shots off the fairway, but most of the time you have to think about where you need to hit your second from. I've played all over the Mid-Michigan/Brighton area so far this year and Centennial's greens are the best overall yet. There are NO temporary greens and all holes open for play as of yesterday. Never taken the carts so can't comment on that. Will definitely play again.
Branson Bay Golf Course
Played On 04/16/2014Play the back nine for sure .... If you have to choose
This course isn't supposed to be a Hawk Hallow or Eagle Eye. This is the place you go to work some things in your game out and have a great walk. The layout of the back is interesting and challenging and you can have it to yourself for the most part. I come here quite a bit in the summer to walk the back and always leave happy I chose to come here. The condition is not champion caliber, if it was you'd have to pay for it. Branson does a good job at being what it's supposed to be.
Pine Hills Golf Course
Played On 04/15/2014Cool small town course.....
Like the title says...cool small town course. Winds through woods and trees almost every hole. Average player could easily play from the tips. I play it several times a year always a good price. You'll give up a couple balls regardless of skill level some of the holes are harder than you think, even the two "drivable" par 4's. I'd encourage walking it ,but I always do.
Played here multiple times. Half hour drive each way.
Executive Nine at Cascades Golf Course
Played On 11/03/2013Really a great Muni .. wish it was in my town.
Taking in to account that this course is a municipal course I would have to give it 5 stars. I live in Lansing (obvious) and we have Grosebeck, which I love. This isn't on the same level. It has a tremendous advantage in that it has to take up at least three times as much land. I love how it borders neighborhoods, streets and Cascades Park as well. Guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful conditioning was above average and just an overall great round. I will be back.
Marsh/Preserve at Binder Park Municipal Golf Club
Played On 10/27/2013How have I never played here before ??
This was a fun course. Not too brutal and too easy. Good elevation change and great conditions. The staff/guy was probably the nicest I've run into at any course ever. Played literally dozens of courses on "hot deals" from this site alone. He spoke highly of every course in the area. Just nice to run into someone not irritated by your presence these days.
Staff aside... course better than either Gull Lake (West/East) and Bedford Valley.
Cattails Golf Club
Played On 10/26/2013If you want to take driver out of the bag ...
this is a course you could shoot 6 shots better on a second round immediately after your first. Pay attention to lay up yardage and hole layout. If you dont have GPS or course knowledge ....may god save you and bring a few extra balls.
Faulkwood Shores Golf Course
Played On 10/07/2013Nice place .... 3 1/2 stars
Played in light and cold rain and my game was WAY OFF that day. Not the courses fault. It's not on the same tier as a "Championship" golf course and also not a "Mom & Pop". if you know that going in than it's a solid 3 1/2 stars. Definately walkable and if you the correct tees, the yardage wont kill you.
Highland Hills Golf Club
Played On 9/29/2013What happened to this place ??
I LOVED this course !! Fond memeories from 09' thru 2011 .... last time I played it.... out of maybe 15 times before that. Never again !! POOR EVERYTHING. I honestly would pay $6 for 18 holes and only stay for about 2 hours, which is about 3 holes. Only positive note is I hit my 3 wood over 275 yards four times on this course.... It carries 212 - 218 everywhere else (read: rock hard).
The Legacy at Hastings
Played On 9/28/2013Drove 35 minutes .... worth it !!
I've said it before and I'll say it again... LOVE older country club layouts. Blind shots and small greens...no previous course knowledge will hurt you, but its much funner the second and third time around. Can be "un-fair" to first timers, but thats what should bring you back. My score score gets better everytime. It sounds like I own the place, but I dont. I dont work there either, but I do really like this course.
The Legacy at Hastings
Played On 9/12/2013I love old country club courses !!
Its everything you want in an old country club course. Tons of elevation change, small greens, difficult par 3's and walkable. It's been pretty full every time I've played and if you don't have GPS.... good luck. Blind shots and tricky lay up galore. Great little track. Dont let first two holes fool you.
Stonehedge North Course at Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort
Played On 8/31/2013BUSY !!!!
Busy....packed...I had to ride shotgun with total stranger....guess they dont have enough carts. Wouldn't drive 50 minutes for again...EVER !!
Falcon Golf Course
Played On 8/30/2013Great little par 3 ...
Very lush and well maintained. If you understand what this course is...... i.e. do your homework. I cant see any areas of complaint. Leave your driver behind any go play.
Huntmore Golf Club
Played On 8/21/2013Yardage book please .....
Great course and fun to play, but much better if you know where to lay-up and hit off the tee (my 3rd time). I cant imagine playing this course without GPS and some course knowledge. I drove from Lansing and it is totally worth it. One of the better driving ranges as well i.e. real pins and trees and bunkers ect. I walked, but I think its important to note : electric carts not gas.
Brookshire Inn & Golf Club
Played On 8/20/2013I like Brookshire ....
Play here many times a year. They keep it in shape and its a good value. Good layout and variety I would not hesitate to recommend
Coyote Preserve Golf Club
Played On 08/14/2013Challenging and fun.
I never score well here, but that doesn't affect how much I like playing here. Much easier with course knowledge.
