Colmworth & North Beds Golf Club

Played On 07/20/2021Slow-cooking!
Some very slow play spoiled this round on the hottest day of the year.
As with previous visit the fairways were in good condition but the tee boxes were like my lawn. Greens seemed to have been suffering in the whether but that is understandable.
Having struggled to navigate the first time I played I bought a course guide this time, but although it was quite glossy it wasn’t very good - just one point was picked in each hole for distance, some of the holes were confusing.
I imagine I’ll go back for more of my hot deal rounds later in the year, but hopefully with a better pace of play.
Colmworth & North Beds Golf Club
Played On 07/01/2021A mixed bag but good outing.
A pleasant course with a few interesting holes, including an island green and some tricky dog-legs. Overall condition was good but the tees were pretty poor, much worse than the fairways. This was odd as everything else was in good condition. It did not impact my enjoyment of the round. A good use of my monthly hot deal and I’ll be looking to go back.

Really quick round as most groups playing in pairs. A mixture of straightforward and tricky holes. Good course conditions.
Aldwark Manor Estate Golf
Played On 04/16/2021Greens haven’t improved.
Three weeks after opening the fairways are in decent nick but the tees are rather uneven and greens really poor - masses of sand and mechanical holes in them. Putting with any degree of accuracy impossible, ball keeps diverting.
I booked the course (2 rounds of 9 holes booked back to back) because it was convenient, but it really did spoil the round. When more courses more easily available in summer I will go elsewhere. It’s a shame it used to be in great nick.
Aldwark Manor Estate Golf
Played On 03/31/2021Mid-renovation - cheap but slow and messy.
There are some sort of renovations taking place at Aldwark meaning the slightly dull (though narrow and still challenging) far side of the river is in play for the 9 holes I booked (for a very cheap £10). However, what was very disappointing was the state of the greens, even the holes were not very sharp. There had clearly been the aftermath of recent weather and the fairways were a little heavy (the odd good shot stopping dead in the middle of the fairway), but that isn’t the fault of anyone. The greens however should have been better, and given it was day 3 of golf being on again nothing felt very neat and tidy.
The Cambridgeshire Golf Club
Played On 08/28/2020Not up to usual standard
A couple of days of downpour after hot weather meant the fairways were a little patchy. No information boards for early start. It’s a really challenging course and will be back but will avoid early mornings where possible and get cheaper later tee times.
