Stallion Mountain Golf Club
Played On 11/12/2020Long and Wide
Since it was my first time to play this course I read the reviews first before booking. Reviews were mixed but for $35 during a perfect weather I booked.
The facility is a Private Club quality and the staff were friendly and courteous. The fairways are long and wide so it is a haven for long hitters to "let it rip". The course does not have a lot of personality nor does it have a noted "signature hole" worth remembering. No marshals on the course so one relies on players "self-disciplining" themselves to keep pace. Greenside bunkers are dry and hard (no sand). Overall fun course.
Paradise Valley Golf Course
Played On 10/27/2020Lower Your Expectation
I normally go to Paradise Valley for their grass practice range with newer golf balls as well as to practice pitching and chipping. Early in the fall and winter their greens are fairly good to hone in your “short game”. Tee time is almost always open during weekdays and pace is tolerable considering that majority of the holes are Par 3 holes. For $23 green fee riding, it is a better alternative to Cracker Jacks where they have not replaced their practice balls since their inception!
Union Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/11/2020Slow bu sure
The course is one week before seeding so it is understandably dry and firm; greens are firm but unusually slow so that it reads rights but distance control could be deceiving. Bunkers are just fine - loose but a little on the shallow side.
Aguila Golf Course
Played On 09/25/2020Going Public
I have always regarded Public Golf Courses as a course to play if you have no other choice and just want to play around! However, Aguila Golf Course wiped that regard very quickly the first time I played this course. The course is very well maintained, the greens are rolling with consistency and the rough were cut short enough so you can find your ball. The bunkers are a little thin but consistent throughout. Thank God for the cart lady! It is still hot out there!
I would not mind going public from now own!
Hello, Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course.
Golf Summerlin - Highland Falls Course
Played On 07/14/2020Stiffed
My very first game here in Vegas after a while and so looking forward to it. It turned to be a big disappointment. Our 3rd player did not show up, and I got stuck with a grouchy “member” constantly pushing the 3-some ahead of us then I found out that only the 10th to The 18th hole is open and the 1st 9 holes were closed for aeration! I wish this was posted in GolfNow!
Still charged $66 for non-residents! Saving grace is the friendly and courteous staff!
Desert Canyon Golf Club
Played On 06/04/2020We Owned The Course
First, kudos for the Club’s management for practicing and enforcing COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
For the price we were treated with a very well maintained golf course. Golf range is well maintained and peaching and putting greens were representative of the course. We played as a two-some, no players before and after us - we owned the course!
There were a few bald spots in the fairway and around the green parameters but could easily be forgiven for the price.
Watch out for those deceiving steep sloped greens - the 18th hole in particular. These could ruin your good streak!

I have always referred to this golf course as “Steady Freddie”, which means you can’t ho wrong playing it if you have no other choice!
Today however, the fairway was dry, the greens are dry and the bunkers simply “sucked” big time! There is no sand but dry earth! Such a shame considering literally every hole is surrounded by bunkers!
Arizona Traditions Golf Club
Played On 02/01/2020Reliable Tradition
Arizona Tradition for has become the common question “What about AZ Tradition?” when you run out of options where to play golf. The course is always properly maintained and consistent from hole to hole. The staff are very friendly yet the marshals are firm in enforcing pace of play. If I have one wish it would be to make the greens roll a little faster. While the greens are pristine and consistent it is spongy and slow specially when wet!
We're happy that Arizona Traditions is always a reliable go-to golf course for you! We hope to see you out here again soon.
Union Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/29/2019The Choice Is All Yours
If you have heard the “rumor” that all the Sun City golf courses “are all the same”, the Union Hills Country Club is an exception! First, it is longer than most or it could be just right based on your tee selection. From the Blue and Black tees be prepared for 200+ yards Par 3’s, tough to reach during early and very cold tee time. If you are feeling lucky, choose the White tee - the choice is all yours. Pace of play was excellent when you tee off early even with the frost delay. The bunkers have enough sand and consistent throughout.
If one is picky then one might complain about leaves and pine needles on the greens but the friendly staff and great breakfast and hot dogs more than make up for it!
Arizona National Golf Club
Played On 11/23/2019It hurts so good!
Rumored to be one of the “toughest”if not the toughest course in Arizona, it was a big surprise to find that it only costs $55 to play. Playing mostly in Scottsdale and West Phoenix, this was a bargain for a semi-private course of this caliber. Course management skill is an advantage here as many holes feature “risk-reward” conditions - lay up or give it a rip and combined with blind shots! The greens have honest rolls and the bunkers are consistent and have plenty of sand. Add the very accommodating and courteous course managers and helpers and you can easily forgive yourself for having a bad game and murmur to yourself “I’ll get you next time!”
Thank you so much for your 5 star review and kind words. We value your feedback, and hope to see you back soon.
North Golf Course at Granite Falls Golf Club
Played On 06/23/2019Can’t go wrong
Very good practice range, putting and chipping greens. Course is challenging enough to enjoy and not too long for the novice. Greens are tough to read and have the tendency to roll towards the mountains in spite of the read!
Great for friendly golf and small company tournaments!
Haven at Haven Public Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2018Great of the good Public Course
For only $20 for 18 holes with cart for a Public Course one would be suspicious of it being a “cow pasture” or it doubles as “frisbee golf” like some Public Courses nowadays! Not this one. The rough is not too deep to loose a ball each time you go there and the greens have a nice but slow roll! The fairways are consistent but don’t expect a long bounce or roll. It was still a little wet when we played so balls just stopped where it landed regardless of trajectory. Expect slow play and undisciplined players shouting like no one else is playing! After all it is a public course!
Palm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 09/03/2018A course to appreciate and not humbled!
This course maybe near the heart of Scottsdale but it is not pretentious nor over the top like the likes of Troon North, The Boulders or Camelback! It is well maintained and has distinct personality of its own to make it both fun and challenging at the same time. Some views are appreciative minus the multi-million dollar homes that surrounds Troon or Boulders - making one less humbled but feel welcome and comfortable! Okay, so the rough are long and thick and make it difficult to find your ball if you hit a stray shot! Water hazards also come into play which contribute to its own personality! Highly recommended to anyone at all levels!
Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club
Played On 12/31/2017Nice but cold
This is a beautiful and a bit challenging course but can certainly be more exciting with a little more enthusiasm from the staff. The atmosphere lacks warmth with no smiling faces and welcoming greetings. Perhaps because they have to work on New Year’s eve? A few minutes of course overview could also have prevented some confusion among newbies who could not seem to follow the signs to the holes for each of the three courses.
After watching a couple if shots bounce off the bunkers I should have gotten the clue that there is not much sand in them. You can break a wrist instead! Other than that the course is kindof picturesque , with those humongous homes in the background.
Quail Canyon Golf Course
Played On 09/10/2017Double Trouble
This course should really be taken off Golfnow list and whoever is giving this a good review is not being honest. Not mentioned in the information is that this course doubles as a "Frisbee golf" so that you have to wait for them to "hurl off" before you tee off.
I can only describe it as 'the worst Golf Course I have ever played" but I am sure it is probably rated as the best "Frisbee golf" course around.
Sun City South Golf Course
Played On 09/09/2017Steady as she goes
This Club is very good at keeping this course well maintained and not allow it to deteriorate like some of the courses in the area. The greens are even and well groomed and the green's condition does not influence how the breaks read - the ball rolls exactly how it reads. While it is flat and not very many hazards are at play, playing the blue tees provided "the challenge" that keeps a course more exciting. For a leasurely game with a friend or friends, this course is steady as she goes. The coffee however is too watered down to call it coffee! Not good for a 6:30 am tee time!
Las Vegas National Golf Course
Played On 09/03/2017The Better Las Vegas Golf Club
I was expecting a well groomed golf course worthy of a Golf Club and it is Las Vegas after all. To my disappointment it was not what I thought, Many parts of fairway are bald and the greens are slow and although your putts may roll the breaks are unpredictable. Some bunkers are more like dry cement but inconsistent. But for $25 Hot Deal I can't really complain but it is not something to brag about either. It is enough to say "I played the Las Vegas National Golf Club" and give them a shrug of the shoulder when anyone asks "how was it?' That way you preserve the Las Vegas mystique.
Union Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/05/2017A course made to bond
After a couple of bad games playing at more challenging courses, it is always good to come back and play an "old familiar course" . It is like coming home from an exhaustive vacation from a foreign land! Whether you are tuning your swing, playing skins while bonding with friends this course is long enough to challenge you and yet wide enough to be forgiving. Staff are friendly and accommodating, food cart is frequent and the "personalized golf cart" waiting for you at check-in is a special touch.

Played On 07/04/2017Stay the Course
I call this my default course! Not cheap and not expensive but the course is always in good shape! It is an excellent course to bring a friend for a friendly game. It has enough nuances to make it tough yet deceivingly easy to make it fun. Good driving range, good putting green.
When all else is taken, there is always "The Lagends at Arrowhead!"
Friars/Presidio at Riverwalk Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2017It's no river walk
I played this course before and I made note to myself to play it again because of the convenient location. I did not remember it to be that expensive for the condition it was in. The greens were not bad but the fairway was in bad condition with too many bald spots and under repair if there was even an attempt to repair. Still not bad for a city course.
Hi, phoeknicks. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Stallion Mountain Golf Club.
