Gettysburg National Golf Club
Played On 06/07/2020A decent amount of repairs
This was my first time playing this course, and while I went with some buddies who have all played this course before, we all thought there was a pretty significant amount of ground under repair. Tight fairways, thick rough, a fair number of water features, and some really slow greens on a pretty mild summer day. Lost an abnormal amount of balls, but overall a fun round of golf.
Green Acres Golf Club
Played On 05/24/2020Amazing gem not far from Route 78!
This course is in some beautiful country and, surprisingly, tucked away not far off of Route 78. Extremely affordable, this course is fun to ride and walk. Thick rough and some longer holes make this one fun and challenging for players of all ages. Will most definitely play again!
Black Rock Golf Course
Played On 05/14/2020Excellent Course
I played this course about 8 years ago, when it was private, and while it blew me away back then, even though it is now a public course, Black Rock blew me away again. Amazingly maintained, challenging holes and some interesting green movement make this a must play in the Western MD/South-Central PA area. Will definitely play again.
Rich Valley Golf Course
Played On 04/26/2020Basically a links style course in Central PA
Other than a few holes on the back 9, this course plays like a links-style course and is a fun change of pace from most of the courses in South-Central PA. Thick rough and some decent greens make this course playable multiple times. Will definitely play again.
The Greens at Hamilton Run
Played On 03/14/2020Municipal Course in the center of Hagerstown
This course is a nice little 9-hole municipal course in the middle of Hagerstown, just off of Route 40. It is a little rough here and there, which is to be expected of munis, but for the money and location, its a good little course to play in the evening after work. Will play again soon!
Iron Forge at Penn National Golf Club & Inn
Played On 10/20/2019Absolutely Amazing, even in the rain!
For our final outing of the season, my dad and I played Iron Forge and, even though it lightly rained the entire round, it was an absolute pleasure. Thick rough, challenging bunker locations, undulating greens, elevation changes...you name it, Penn National offers it. I hope to be able to play this course again soon!
Hidden Valley Golf Course
Played On 08/17/2019A Gem in the Mountains
My dad works relatively close to this course, which makes it ideal for us to meet up and play a round in the summer between work and sunset. Beautiful views and some really challenging holes make this a fun course to play. Will definitely play again!
Caledonia Golf Club
Played On 08/12/2019For a Municipal Course, not bad.
I have played here multiple times, and while the course is consistently under repair, I have never had an outright negative experience. I played in a weekly league last season as well and thoroughly enjoyed being able to play weekly. Due to price and location to me, I will definitely play again.
Armitage Golf Course
Played On 08/10/2019Very nice gem of a course
I decided to play this course this summer as it is almost exactly halfway between myself and my father. The weather was perfect, warm and a little dry, so the course was beautiful and had a little extra roll with the arid conditions. Staff was super friendly and the price was amazing for an early afternoon Sunday round during peak season! Will definitely play again!
Minebrook Golf Club
Played On 07/20/2019Out of towner, thought it was great!
My father grew up in Hackettstown, and we happened to be in town for a family event, so we snuck out to play a round. It was a beautiful, if blazingly hot, day and the course played really well. It had rained not too many days prior, so the course was in excellent shape. Thick rough and some interesting hole layouts made this course challenging for someone playing it for the first time, but it was extremely fun. If we happen to make it out that way again, would love to play the course again!
Willow Hollow Golf Course
Played On 07/20/2019A fun course just outside of Reading, PA
This course is interesting in that you could drive right by it and never know it was there. Set a little ways off of 183 and 322, I would be willing to bet thousands of people drive by this gem daily, without any knowledge it exists. It has some interesting elevation changes and some tough bunker locations protecting the greens that make this course fun and challenging, but approachable to most. Will definitely play again!
Conocodell Golf Club
Played On 07/06/2019Hidden 9-hole not far from Route 30
If you did not know this course existed, you would likely never find it. I have lived in the area for over 8 years and been a fairly avid golfer for all of those years, and I only found out about this little course thanks to a buddy who grew up in the area. Not a bad course at all, definitely showed that the owners were working on improvements and were willing to invest time and money into it, which is always nice to see. My outing was one of the hottest days of the year, so it made my play time short, insofar as I made sure I was off the course before noon. Perfect course for juniors and the casual golfer, or someone who is just looking to walk a 9-hole course after work in the evening or morning. Will hopefully be able to play again soon.
Greencastle Golf Club
Played On 06/15/2019Thick Rough, Fun Course
I have played this course multiple times and each time the rough surprises me with how thick it is. You can easily lose a ball in plain sight if you are off target. Open fairways and interesting elevation changes make this course a fun one to play multiple times. Will definitely play again.
