Webb Hill Country Club
Played On 04/13/2024Nice course layout, especially the back 9.
Webb Hill CC is between Greenville and Wolfe City. It was built in 1969 using a program started by President Eisenhower to rejuvenate small-town America.
Many greens were in poor shape. I included pictures. The front nine is very open when compared to the back nine. The back nine had several tight driving landing areas. Many fairways were struggling to keep grass growing, I found to course fun and would return if I lived in the area.
Duck Creek Golf Course
Played On 04/12/2024Great Bones, needs TLC
This course has great bones; however, it needs more grass in fairways and tee boxes. The walk-up price for seniors would be slightly less than $30 (includes cart fee), so it is a reasonable price for course conditions. It should be noted the walk-up price is currently less than the GolfNow price.
Many greens have poa ana grass growing currently, providing a less than desirable rolling surface. The smaller greens put a premium on approach shots. In its current condition I can’t recommend this one.
Tour 18 Houston
Played On 02/28/2023Layout great, no drinking water on course!
Fun layout, greens rolled well. Enjoyed the round except for one thing - no drinking water on the course. Are you kidding me? Houston, TX and no water on the course.
Atascocita Golf Club - Point/Shores Course
Played On 05/14/2022Great Track, Friendly Staff
First Tee time out (7:00 am); therefore, pace was great. Foursome behind us never waited, we finished at 10:45. It doesn’t get much better for pace of play for a foursome.
Played Shores, then Pinehurst from White Tees (70.8/130). Shores greens were a bit troubled - perhaps some sort of fungus. They did roll fine. Pinehurst greens are smaller than many course, they were in excellent shape. Many tee boxes were struggling-see picture. Due to the above conditions, I rated the conditions “fair” for a $55 green fee.
No drinking water jugs on course, that was unexpected in Houston for May! There are restrooms halfway through the nine-holes, but management is taking the COVID-caution too far in my opinion.
Bone to pick item: Starter attempted to pair me up in the same cart with a complete stranger. I explained, I would rather walk if they are in desperate need of carts for the afternoon tee-times. If that’s how we were going to roll, I expected $25 returned. The gentleman acquiesced at my suggestion and with a friendly smile allowed our foursome to proceed with three golf carts. Had I known about the water jugs at this time, I would have stated no drinking water in May on course due to COVID, but sitting next to a stranger for 4 hours is fine, come now.
I would return if in the Houston area again.

It’s a fun place to hit the golf ball; hopefully, the maintenance of the course continues to improve.
River Bend Golf Club
Played On 05/30/2021Greens Very Bumpy, many Tee Boxes overgrown with weeds
Played here many times; typically a good value. This time the course conditions were sub-par. Tee boxes overgrown with weeds, greens very uneven. Pin positions today were ridiculous, like it was Sunday at US Open.
I may return once players say the course conditions have improved..

Improvement on weeds and fairways would make this course higher rated. Staff is always helpful and layout is fun.
Pleasanton Country Club
Played On 09/13/2020Greens and fairways okay
Good value for the money, but nobody will think they are playing at a resort course. Greens and fairways were okay. Rough struggling with south Texas heat.
I will play again.
Ranch Course at Genoa Lakes Golf Club
Played On 08/27/2020Lovely Course, some areas need improvement
The layout is good and the staff friendly to this first time player.
Most fairways and greens in good shape, except #4. The greens have the potential to be faster, but I didn’t mind their speed.
I regularly walk when playing golf, but this would be a challenge. There are some distance between a few green-to-tee as well.
Recommend using a golf cart here.
Sierra/River at Empire Ranch Golf Course
Played On 08/25/2020Pass until more rain
I wanted to really like this course, but other courses in the area are in better condition. Spend a little more and enjoy a quality game of golf.
Staff was excellent, but many things need improvement on the course. Maintenance has completely given up on taking bunkers. Many tees are mostly weeds. While greens are good, areas around greens are struggling—weeds are winning!
Picture provide the story.
Toiyabe Golf Club
Played On 08/24/2020Pace of Play Slow
Enjoyed my first outing here. Course was very wet, a bit surprised for an afternoon outing. Greens in excellent shape, fairways average as well as tees.
Staff was great.
SilverHorn Golf Club of Texas
Played On 07/09/2020No Water
Course conditions are very good, but there is no drinking water on the course. Very dangerous in South Texas heat.
When I made the turn, the young lady seemed put-out to fill up my cup with water.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, however, we do apologize for any inconvenience or misunderstanding regarding our current beverage policy. Due to COVID-19, we have removed water jugs on the course as a sanitary precaution, but we do have a beverage cart on the course with water and Gatorade available to purchase. Guests may come in to the 19th Hole at the turn to purchase water as well. We can assure you our team at SilverHorn is committed to the health & safety of our guests, but we appreciate your understanding and flexibility with our operations during this time. Course needs a bit more work.
The Golf Club of Texas
Played On 04/30/2020Lee Trevino got it right
Enjoyed walking this course on the last day of the virus lockdown. Fairways are generally generous on the front nine with a great deal of run. The back nine is tighter with more carries over water.
The greens are firm and huge - plenty of opportunities to three-putt. I found the front easier than the back. Hole 1 is a short par 4 down the hill and is in the photo.
I will plan to return.
SilverHorn Golf Club of Texas
Played On 04/28/2020Great Shape - Recommend Playing Here
Arrived 30 minutes before my tee-time - the course got some reason was not busy! The gentleman in the clubhouse said I could wait for others or press on - 5 stars due to this kindness!
Fairways, rough and greens getting in nice shape - really not much to complain about, they are doing very well.
It remains walking only due to virus, but this course is not a difficult walk.
Price is within average range for quality of the course. I will return.
Thank you for the kind feedback and visiting us at SilverHorn Golf Club! We truly appreciate your 4-star rating and understanding regarding our operations during this time. We hope you join us for another round soon!
Olmos Basin Golf Course
Played On 04/23/2020What Happen to the greens?
The course was closed the last few weeks; therefore, one would think time for the maintenance crews to get things “in shape”.
Well I was wrong and disappointed in the greens. Many sand filled holes, but not much grass. One star is all I can give.
Staff is short due to clubhouse being closed, but that didn’t prevent the starter/marshal from reminding our foursome to stay more than six feet apart (we were already complying). Of course, I’m sure he didn’t say anything to the slow group in front of us - a full three holes behind!
Come on San Antonio, you can do better.
Olympia Hills Golf Course
Played On 04/21/2020Hard course to walk in heat and humidity
Tough afternoon due to heat and humidity - no water on course due to virus.
Enjoyed the outing and course conditions some bunkers were raked, some not yet.
Glad they are open!
