Cinnabar Hills Golf Club - Lake/Canyon
Played On 07/25/2022First time there.
Check in was ok; the young guy at the counter was smug and not accommodating. No NCGA rate was a little surprising. Cart was pretty beat up with the seat coming apart at the seams. Driving range is nice! Starter was just a figure hanging out in the shack (staff needs to perk up!).
Played the Mountain and Canyon Courses. Don’t need driver on a lot of holes. Amazing views on both. Greens superb! But the fairways were bare in a lot of spots and tee boxes especially on the Canyon course, just neglected and beat to crap. Greens crew was all over the place with their carts. Some bunkers were under repair and the ones that didn’t had way too much sand in them IMO.
Overall worth the drive. Reminiscent of a few courses I’ve played (Tehama, The Preserve, San Juan Oaks and Crazy Horse).
Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 11/30/2020Put some money into it.
Sad to see this beautiful course in such demise. Tee boxes are a mess, fairways are totally dried out with many having no grass at all and greens suffering from disease. One of the few Public courses you used to be able to play near the Peninsula without emptying your wallet but now it’s really not even worth the Hot Deal.
Hunter Ranch Golf Course
Played On 11/03/2019Unfriendly staff
Called and talked to STeve. Told us if we were late we couldn’t go out and play. Considering they had plenty of tee times available, very inconsiderate!
Couldn’t directly answer my other questions. Very rude.
San Juan Oaks Golf Club
Played On 12/07/2017Freezedelay
Only got to play eight holes due to a frost delay during my tee time. Not happy that I paid and not able to play a full round.
Del Monte™ Golf Course
Played On 07/09/2017Expensive muni course
For a "Pebble Beach" course it was not what we expected. Fairways and greens kept up, but the rest of the course was average.
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2017Staff
On a normal day the staff is very friendly and accommodating, unless the golf manager is there.
He was very rude and unfriendly. He couldn't believe I got a tee time with cart for the price I did. He questioned the legitimacy of my deal and made me feel like I was somehow cheating them. Did not treat me with a good customer service attitude.
The rest of the staff tried to make up for his rudeness.
Pace of play for a Monday was terribly slow.
Certain sections of the course were in need of help, I.e., parts of the fairway are dried out.
It is, however, a fun, short course.
Black Horse at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course
Played On 04/19/2017Awesome day
Blackhorse will test every part of your game and every club in your bag; putter especially. Greens have multiple levels with severe undulations. No water hazards to contend with, but plenty of fairway and green side bunkers. Tee boxes are nice and level, fairways were superb, sand traps were a little inconsistent (some hard and packed, others fluffy), greens rolled true and fast. Overall I will say this course is a great deal! I've paid much more to play in the area (Carmel Valley Ranch, Pacific Grove) and been less satisfied than my round at Blackhorse. It's a long, challenging course so if you're a high handicapper this may not be much of a joy to play.
Only negative comment would be the golf carts and how much Armor All they use to give the carts a shine. Ended up on my hands, my grips, and glove while I was playing. Had to toss my glove and clean my grips when the round was over.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Monterey Pines Golf Club.
