Tekoa Country Club
Played On 12/31/2021Golf Now booked a course that was closed
Tekoa is a nicely maintained course that I enjoy playing, but when I booked two groups on Golf Now only to discover on arrival that the course was closed for the year, I was embarrassed and humiliated. Lesson learned- don’t rely on Golf Now without contacting someone at the course to confirm it is open. Thankfully we found another course to play later that day.
Pembroke Lakes Golf & Racquet Club
Played On 03/30/2021Worth the drive
One of the nicest courses in the region with well manicured fairways, abundant bunkers (with nice sand), lots of water hazards and lush Bermuda greens. Fairways are fairly generous if you avoid the bunkers and don’t try to overpower the course. Greens are subtle and a bit slow. A scenic layout and well worth a visit. I come down from New England every winter and this course is now in my top five. Staff is friendly and we got around in under 4 hours.
Flamingo Lakes Country Club
Played On 03/03/2020Good warm up round
This was my first of three rounds in Florida and an excellent warm up before moving up to more challenging tracks. The holes are a bit redundant, with shortish par 4’s bordered by water, short par 3’s over water and unremarkable par 5’s. Fairways were fairly generous, bunker sand of so so quality and fairly quick greens with some patchy spots. Overall an enjoyable outing and well worth the low cost. Played under 4 hours on a Tuesday morning. Decent pro shop.

This was my last round in Florida before returning to the ice and snow of New England, and I'd have to say the best. Not only was the course well maintained, but it had great practice facilities from a driving range to a chipping green complete with bunker and a nice putting green. I was paired with three affable Canadians and we enjoyed an unhurried 3 1/2 hour round. Greens were receptive, though a bit slow, and fairways were mostly generous. Bunkers were well placed and there were enough risk/reward scenarios to challenge your shot making. Playing from the white tees, there are several holes requiring less than driver and enough water hazards to get your attention. I would definitely play the blue tees next time (if my partners agree), but either way it's an enjoyable track with plenty of variety. I will put this course on my favorites list for southern Florida.
Royal/Sabal at Grand Palms Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/13/2018Nice layout
This was an enjoyable course, with good variety, generous fairways and plenty of water to make things interesting. Greens well maintained and rolled fairly true, but could be faster. Played as a twosome on a Tuesday and finished in a tidy 3:20 for 18, even though we played an extra hole by mistake (the Ruby course 5 and the Grand course 5 were right near each other). Some holes call for less than driver to avoid hazards; best to bring a few extra balls. Nice features include GPS, rakes and sand on each cart. Will definitely play here again on my next Florida vacation.
The Bridges at Springtree Golf Club

This course is well maintained and a good test of your short game. Some of the holes are throwaways, however. A 62 yard par 3? This was my first round after arriving on our Florida vacation. I only got to hit my driver twice, but my wedges had lots of action and The sand in the bunkers was pristine. Overall a good warmup course but wouldn’t go out of my way to play again.
Elmcrest Country Club
Played On 07/30/2017Well worth it
An enjoyable layout with some tight fairways, smallish greens and good variety. You can shoot a low score here if you're relatively straight off the tee, and from the white tees you can keep the driver in the bag half the time. The deal on Golf Now was fantastic -- $32 on a Sunday morning with carts. I've played most of the courses in Western Mass and northern CT but this was my first time at Elmcrest. I would definitely return. Greens were a bit slow but seemed to roll true. Some of the rough was out of control and penalized shots just off the green. GPS takes you down the wrong street, so get your directions in advance.
East at Jacaranda Golf Club
Played On 12/16/2016Exceptional
This was one of the best tracks I have experienced in Florida. It had the feel of a private club, with immaculate fairways, large undulating greens and five sets of tee boxes to choose from. We played the #3 tee boxes which are the equivalent of white men's tees, plenty long enough with most par 4's measuring about 400 yards. Bunkers guarded every green, with perfect sand that spoiled this New Englander. Greens rolled true but the grainy nature of the Bermuda grass presented challenges on short putts not struck firmly enough. There was plenty of water, especially on the front 9, but little came into play if you managed the course properly. Playing with locals was a big bonus. Can't wait to play this course again on my next Florida visit.

Great course with lots of variety and well maintained. Greens a bit slow but rolled true. Friendly staff.
The Ranch Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2016Best Course in Western Mass.
It's always a treat to play this premium course, especially when the rates are discounted in the Spring and Fall. The uphill holes are particularly challenging and the downhill par 5s (#9 and 16) are a blast. My favorite hole is #17, however, a water carry par 3 with elevated tee boxes and sometimes tricky winds. Greens are mostly very large and roll true. And nature lovers will enjoy the beautiful scenery. It is worth an overnight trip to the greater Springfield/Hartford region.
Waikoloa Village Golf Club
Played On 10/10/2015Disappointing
I played the Beach course from the back tees and it had some scenic holes, but the greens were in poor shape. For $150 I expect greens without burnt out patches. They were also slow, as was the pace of play (waited almost every hole). The first two holes had carries over 200 yards over water from the back tees, especially challenging on the par 3 second hole. Having played the much nicer and spectacular Mauna Lani South course a few days earlier, this one was a bit of a letdown.
This review cannot be for Waikoloa Village Golf Club. It doesn't have a beach course and there is no water on hole number 1 and 2. Also, #2 is a par 4.
You must have played down at
the Waikoloa Beach Resort which is on the coast. Waikoloa Village Golf Course is 6 miles up the mountain from the beach. Too bad you didn't play at Waikoloa Village Golf Club! It's a great course and wonderful people and it wouldn't have cost you $150!
