OFFICIAL STATEMENT From Danzante

Dear Member & Guests:
Danzante Bay community and golf course, prides itself to be a fully sustainable development. Our wonderful location requires conscientious steps and protocols for the environment. Danzante Bay makes potable water from the sea using desalination, which cleans the used water at our treatment plant that exceeds the requirements provided by the federal environmental agency.
During these last summer months, the region experienced a combination of extreme heat and a large hurricane as never before.
Our beloved golf course felt the impact immediately, even with the strong materials used in the construction, making damage to the fairway and rough areas. Fortunately, we have kept the tees and greens in excellent condition and over the next several months, we are committed to restore the course to its original condition.
This restoration process involves reseeding fairways and rough on many of the holes. While all 18 holes will be open, at times, we may turn some of the par 4’s into par 3’s so we can allow the new seed to germinate and become healthy while at the same time allowing golfers to experience the greens on those holes.
The desalination plant system has also been upgraded to ensure it will produce enough water with the correct quality as needed.
Our agronomy engineers are working extensively to bring the course back in perfect TPC quality condition as soon as possible. Equally important, we have adjusted the processes to the new environmental challenges, so this situation may never happen again. Because of the maintenance procedures now taking place, if a member or resort guest would like to play golf between now and Dec 31, 2023, we will offer a 50% discount off our normal golf rate.
We will provide a monthly update on our web and social media to keep our members and guests informed on our progress.
Thank you for your understanding.

Great for Members, Average for Visitors

Fun enough layout but nothing too special other than the surrounding butte views. The price tag for a non member $170 warrants MUCH better in terms of maintenance. Houses next to most of the holes.

Try for a hot deal if you can get it.

I'm glad I can check it and Sedona off my list but no immediate desire to return. Oak Creek down the road was the better deal and closer to the surrounding buttes and mountains.

My take home message is that Sedona is a great destination but not really a golf destination. (I only played the 2 highest Golf Pass rated courses).

Conditions Not Worth the Price Tag

I got the $140 Moose Deal and it was still too much. They are charging out of towners $175! Conditions are terrible. Course layout is OK but not worth the charges with the condition the course is in. Pro shop staffer was very nice. If this is the condition in March, I can only imagine what it looks like in a Vegas summer. They really shouldn't be charging this amount.

Great Course

Great and fun course. Would rather play here than many of the ocean courses on the island.
Unfortunately it's the high season, and pace of play was difficult, but still a great course. Go play it!

Always a Challenge

Greens are in great shape but they don't seem to be maintaining lesser played areas, and by that I mean the spaces between the tee box and the fairway and the rough. It seems they are being overrun with native grasses and are just being mowed or they are devoid of grass altogether. Not really a big deal if you hit it straight every time and/or aren't aesthetics minded. Don't let that discourage you from playing. This is still a great course and always worth a visit.

Remember to eat your Wheaties and save your energy because whether you like it or not, they saved the 2 toughest holes for last. 17 -the island green and 18- with the big bay jump to make the green! (I always kind of wished they would switch the 9's to give you a little more of a fighting chance at these 2 holes)

Enjoy!

Bunkers, bunkers, bunkers

Tough course. Bunkers protecting every green and a lot of pitched fairways make this a very challenging course. You really need to think about every shot.

Great and fun course

Pace of play was slow today and I politely jumped a slow foursome at 5. Instead of shuttling back at the end of my round, I asked the pro shop if it would be alright to slip out and play the par 3 I missed, offering that I'd come back in should anyone be on either the tee box OR the green. The response was negative with a how dare you tone. It's fine. I scored myself a deserved birdie! But cmon, try and be a little more understanding, especially since YOUR POP was less than desirable on this day. Beautiful course, not usually this stodgy. This pro shop gent was qualified to work down at The Quail Lodge!!

Great Layout

Maintenance would make this course worth what they charge. Unfortunately the city of San Francisco won't bother with any upgrades or improvements, satisfied with simply keeping it going as it's little revenue source. Too bad, as it has the potential to be great.

Didn't see an "Orchard"

My first time playing this course. (Orchard) I enjoyed it mostly due to the price I got: early morning $34.

The course covers a wide expanse. There were several challenging holes with some forced carries to deal with. Going based on pictures it is not as rural as one would imagine, so that was a bit of a let down for me. The course winds thru an old retirement community and is mostly surrounded by houses. I'm guessing there used to be an orchard here and they put houses and a golf course over it because it's not here now.

The greens were in fair shape but could stand to be rolled. As mentioned in other reviews, the bunkers need maintenance both in terms of sand (some are hardpanned with weeds) and need raking.

Things looked a little rough for the most part but hey, it's August in the Central Valley and it's been 100+ with plenty of smoke in the air from wildfires. Under those circumstances and what I paid it was a fine course. Just don't expect what you see in pictures but that holds true for a lot of courses.

This was supposedly the better of the 2 Lincoln Hill courses. I don't think I would return to play it again but am glad I gave it a try. Take all of this with a grain of salt. I once expressed dissatisfaction on a golf course on a beautiful southern California day because the champagne I received from the beverage cart was "a little flat". Then, it dawned on me, I was complaining about champagne while out on the golf course. Yes. I have really "big" problems in my life. Rolls eyes.

Take home message: It's worth a try if you don't pay a lot and don't have grand expectations.

Great Course

Foggy but it didn't impact the wonder of this course. Fantastic ocean views all over the front 9. Several blind shots down on the beachside back 9. As others have said, the greens are quite a challenge.
Walking the 16/17 across wetlands bridges was a cool treat!
Can't wait to return and play again.

Fun and Challenging and a Little over the Top

I studied up on the courses of Mesquite for months leading up to my solo trip with only golf in mind. My research brought me to Wolf Creek, Conestoga, Coyote Springs and Sand Hollow down the road. I would score them in that order.

I lusted after WC online for a month in advance and was not disappointed. Had the course to myself as I was the 1st out on a Monday morning. It's target golf for sure. If that is not your thing, it's best to shoot elsewhere. I suggest Coyote Springs or maybe one of the casino courses nearby.

WC is like Disneyland and Halloween mixed in to one. I must admit, holes 2-5 made me a little anxious. The course conditions though, were impeccable. I didn't see a single weed until the 13th teebox. A dandilion, and I removed it myself (OCD?).

Those posting negative reviews of WC are the same people who complain that "The ice cream is far too smooth and creamy." or maybe "The bed in the hotel was way to pillowy and comfortable...."

As for myself, I love pillowy beds, smooth ice cream and my prime rib when it's TOO tender and juicy! I'm back to researching courses in Mesquite for an October return and guess what? Lusting after the pictures of WC once again on the ole computer!

Wholehearted endorsement for this once, er' twice in a lifetime course. Great staff, beautiful surroundings, coupled with a big challenge of your game.

Not What I expected At All

This course was rated highly on Golf Advisor and was a top 25, therefore I expected a lot. I am giving them a pass for the dried out fairways and dead rough because we all know CA has had literally NO winter at all (1/18). However, this does not excuse my being issued a used/dirty cart, teeboxes littered with cigarette butts and broken tees - and a Monday pace of play that drove us away after 11 long painful holes. This is not a walkers course and on the 3rd I needed to skip the hole and jump two walking youngers who were probably 10 or 12 years of age slowly hacking away at the fairway.
My wife had heard several groups of non english speaking folks in the parking lot and when the starter told us that we were paired up, my wife was quick to ask whether or not the gents were english speaking to which he replied a hearty “Yes!”, well, they spoke little english at all and with their limited vocabulary waved us forward to play ahead of them, only compounding the course’s POP problems.
The marshal did visit us once during our round only to point out a fire that had broken out in the distance down in the Anaheim area. I myself was burning up! We exited the course at the 12th and as we drove along the cart path EVERY teebox was the same: stacked with people waiting to play that hole, all the way to the 18th green.
I can be happy that I did not pay full price. I had taken advantage of a Black Friday deal. I do not recommend this course as it’s days of being a top 25 course in 2016 are long gone at this point.
The greens were recently sanded and no one in the proshop, nor the starter nor signage indicated this. I really just see it as another one of golf challenges but it's nice to know this going in. A simple note on the pro shop counter would have easily sufficed.
I’m saddened because I enjoy sharing positive reviews of my golf course experiences and this was not one of them.
You win some, you lose some - but I’m still ahead!

Get It While You Can

This course is extremely well cared for. Teeboxes, fairways and greens are all in exceptional condition. Lots of doglegs and water hazards to deal with, and some great views as well.

I used to look forward to the island green at 17 but now see it as a bit of a novelty. Probably just me. Played the course probably 5 times or so and almost always bounce off. Quite a challenge for sure as it comes so late in the round.

They are planning a resort housing development and then intend to go private. However, they are testing the waters for a week long "vacation" membership. It's currently available for 7 days of unlimited golf at $240. Sounds good right? Kind of. You are also charged each time for a cart rental an additional $30. Seeing as how it's an hour or so from Kona and there are so many other great courses to try on the island, you might think twice.

I recommend getting the course while you can. Unless the vacation membership offer appeals to you.

Note: Eat and drink all you can on the front 9 because you're going to want to use the world's nicest on course restroom which is at 9/10!

Mixed Bag

I have to echo previous sentiments that this course is in really bad shape.

Greens are in horrible shape. Teeboxes are a disaster (played the whites) and the bunkers (devoid of rakes for the most part) haven't been cared for by maintenance in what appears to be months?! There are actually bunkers and areas under construction with no forewarning. Glad I didn't land my fairway shot on that bulldozer!!

The good. The fairways are looking and playing well. The staff is great and very courteous. The ocean views are still present and won't let you down! Beautiful! The temps are always a relief from other lowland courses.

Don't pay more than the hot deal or you're probably better off playing a little more for Hapuna or BICC.

p.s. Curse you 12 and 13!! I'll be back for you!

Grande!

For most of the bay area, this is a bit of a haul to get to. I'm no exception. Wanted to see what all the fuss was about so I made the journey from the San Mateo coastside early in the morning and it took me a little over 2 hrs.

Got an unbelievable aeration deal thru TeeOff. And to be quite honest, I didn't realize they had aerated until the 4th green!

This is a really fun course and I wish I wasn't so far away or I would make regular trips for it. Great open surroundings with fun challenges - carryovers ponds and small streams. Elevated tee boxes with some wide open fairways and some narrow thrown in to keep you on your toes. For me I really started enjoying myself around 7. This is when you get sight of the ponds and some teebox elevations. I recommend this course wholeheartedly especially if you don't have too far to travel to get to it.

The proshop personnel were very nice and professional. The "afterstaff" in the restaurant were great and I finished my round in exactly 3hrs on a Monday morning. They have a moose deal going right now, so take advantage if you can.

Totally Gnarly!

In the words of Jeff Spiccoli.

I found this course to be extremely challenging. I'm one who rolls into submission with any uneven lie. This courses serves them up at the frequency McDonalds serves hamburgers.

The pro shop was great. The starter was great and he let us know what we were in for. The restaurant peeps hooked me up with a fantastic breakfast burrito to go and a BLT after my course torture had come to a close.

Beautiful surrounding area with many hills and dales. Just wish my game was half as relaxing as the surroundings! Bring extra balls and hit them straight.

The fairways and greens are in good shape although I saw a disastrous tee box at 11.

I'll need to work on my uneven lies before I return.
