The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 05/09/2018Always a Challenge
Shot-making is always required to keep the ball in play here. The design layout is always fun; you can't go to sleep here. The greens are being aerated and recovering nicely but putt a bit slow right now. These bent grass greens are normally fast. Weekdays after 10 AM the course starts to empty due to Arizona's high heat so the pace of play picks up.
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Saguaro/Tortolita
Played On 10/15/2017Accuracy required
Course fairways were recently over-seeded with winter rye in great shape. Bent grass greens are soft - they are watered heavily and putting over a small amount of wear/tear. Overall, greens were slow.

I complement Mr. Begay on this design. It is the right challenge level for a resort course with progressively more accuracy required starting on the front 9 through the back 9.
The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 11/22/2014Good value for challenging resort course
This course has a forced carry on every hole, frequently from the tee box if not on your second or third (par 5) shot. Greens are soft and hold but take some punishment from people carelessly dragging their feet. It can be slow here with visitors playing a leisurely round. A very challenging yet scenic track in the Tucson foothills. Highly recommended.

After over seeding, the fairways and rough were long. I would anticipate these will be mowed soon and more amenable to resort play. Greens were in good shape, somewhat slow but well cared for. The layout can be challenging with a few forced carry's. The staff were friendly and attentive.
