Oak Hollow Golf Course
Played On 09/24/2021Very nice course
I play only once or twice per year but this course has what I consider one of the best and most difficult par 4's anywhere, no 8. Simply a beautiful hole. I found today that it's easier to par this hole by hitting your drive over the canyon into the 16th fairway if you can clear the trees, then hit up towards the 16th green, wedge from 50-60 yards back over to the proper green and one putt like I did today!
Mesquite Golf Course
Played On 09/09/2021Just a great deal and course
Hate to give this course a great review in fear that more people will discover this hidden gem in Dallas. The greens are ridiculously excellent, fast, plenty of undulation, and just 3 putting is a goal!
16 and 17 will scare the crap out of you and ruin your scorecard, a par 5 and 225 yard par 3.
If you are a straight hitter, the course is probably fairly easy. Black tees are longer than most people should be playing unless you are a 5 HC.
Those who complain about the parking lot and carts not being issued until 15 minutes before, just leave. The parking lot could not be closer to the pro shop and range, so just carry your darn clubs and not be so lazy.
The staff has been great all 6 times I've been there in the past few months.
Played yesterday with groups in front of us the entire way and still played in exactly 3 hours!
No coolers and personal beer on the course is a Dallas City Ordinance, so live with it.
Riverside Golf Club
Played On 08/25/2021Very nice course
Great layout, good greens that were just recently sanded. Greens are very small on some holes. Overall this is a very nice course, just a bit to far away from where I live to play it more often.
Mesquite Golf Course
Played On 07/08/2021Excellent greens
Other than a round of 4 hours 41 minutes, this is a very nice course. The greens were perfect, fast and the greens are extremely challenging.
Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 07/05/2021Better than most in the Dallas area
The Lakes course is in very good condition, greens also very good. Not to much sign of winter kill like many of the courses in the Dallas area.
Old Brickyard Golf Course
Played On 06/25/2021All the grass is dead
So unfortunate, but this course is unplayable. There is nothing but mud for greens. I have never in 40 years of golf around the world seen a course in such horrendous condition. I'm assuming that the harsh winter destroyed this course and I fear it will take years to recover.
Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 09/15/2020greens in spectacular condition
Been a year since I've played the Lakes, and the greens this week are in just about near perfect condition.
Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 09/14/2020Beautiful and very challenging
This is a very nice course with at least one shot per hole that will challenge you greatly.
Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 07/20/2020Very nice course
Water everywhere hence the Lakes course. Very challenging and fun, greens were just a bit slow today.
Riverside Golf Club
Played On 12/06/2017Early December and the greens were still perfect, tough course
First two times I played this course in the past week. Loved every part of it, the layout, the greens, everything *except the wind. If you don't hit the ball with control, there are a number of holes on this course that will devour your game.
This course has very tough par 3's, short par 4's that will test your game, and an awesome par 5 that is a true par 5 for anyone.
I played one day in the cold and 20 mph winds, the next day in perfect 50 degree windless day.
Woodbridge Golf Club
Played On 11/28/2017Hidden gem, greens as tough as any I've played
This course is awesome. Very short from the Whites at around 5800 yards, but don't let any number fool you. There are two par 4's that are around 200 yards, but you would have to hit over trees and/or a lake to reach with the drive. Too far and you are in the hazard or water. This course can be extremely tough and the greens are crazy difficult with massive breaking putts on nearly every green. My round was only $25 on a golfnow booking and well worth it.
Woodbridge Golf Club
Played On 11/25/2017Excellent course, very difficult greens, great challenging layout
My review title says it all. First time I've played this course and was surprised that I have not found it sooner. I have not putted on greens with 90 degree breaks since St. Andrews Old Course, Scotland.
Oak Hollow Golf Course
Played On 11/16/2017Much improved since early season 2017
Played this course a number of times over the past 5 years. Earlier this season I wrote a scathing review of the dead greens but now have to applaud their efforts to repair the greens.
As of Nov 2017, the greens are in near perfect condition.
Buffalo Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/22/2017Nice layout, not maintained well
Excellent layout but the greens are a bit rough and the bunkers look like parched desert mud.
Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 07/07/2017Greens are great, layout very difficult
This is a great public course and very inexpensive. The layout is exceptional and if you can't hit it straight, lots of water will take your ball. The greens on this course are the best of the three at Firewheel.
Oak Hollow Golf Course
Played On 05/20/2017Greens succumbed over the past winter
What was once a course with some of the best greens anywhere has now become unplayable. Something happened to these greens over the winter because just a few months ago they were not too bad. Now every one of them seems to have been attacked by some sort of fungus or really bad grass killing bug. These greens are pretty much unplayable now.
The photo attached is one of the greens that is in good condition.
Tour 18 Dallas
Played On 03/08/2017No grass at all on the greens, just hard mud. Horrible
Yes, we are in dormant season, but I've played 12 rounds of golf in the past two months in Dallas at 3 other courses. Every muni course I've played at least had playable greens. There is no excuse other than dead grass for the horrible condition of these greens. I've been playing golf for 30 years and have never seen greens in worse condition than these. These greens were without question nothing but hard packed mud! Mud! No grass, just mud. Tee boxes were lush green grass already in March, yet the greens had nothing. I had an uphill put on 17 from about 15 feet, the ball stopped about one inch to the right of the hole, yet the ball started to roll back all the way off the green and into the water.
Great course layout, but playing in the offseason is not worth $20 much less $45-50.
