Great value

This course is a great value for the 35$ August price tag. The course was in good overall condition with firm and fast greens. If the regulars would fix their ball marks the greens would be top notch. Greens springs has a few challenging holes but is very playable. It’s not a top notch championship course but a very good local muni. You can’t ask for anything better for the price. This course also has great views of the surrounding area.

Great layout. Fair conditions.

I played this course 6-7 years ago and was in fantastic condition. The conditions today were fair due to the fairways and tee boxes having bare spots throughout. The greens rolled true but we’re a little softer and slower than I would prefer for a course of this quality. Granted, it’s late august which may of contributed. I paid 65$ for an afternoon rate so you can’t complain for that rate, but I wouldn’t be happy if I paid 100-200$ which is charged during peak season. The layout is still great, with the back 9 being as good as you can ask for. The cliff holes are as good as advertised.

What happened?

This course has always been on my rotation of courses to play. It has a great layout and has always had adequate (not great) playing conditions. I played for the first time since February and I can’t believe how poor the conditions were. Fairways and chipping areas around the greens were awful. The bunkers probably haven’t been touched in a year and are full of weeds. Very disappointing seeing the current state of this course.

You don’t get what you pay for.

The Oaks course comes with a steep green fee of 240$ but does not live up to the lofty price. The course is linked to a top notch resort and with it’s more popular big brother course the oaks. The course was designed by Pete Dye so I had high expectations for the Canyons. The course is set in the hill country with beautiful views throughout the course. The course itself is an average layout and doesn’t haven’t anything you haven’t seen before. The most disappointing part of the course was the green speed. They were very slow and I anticipate they were running around an 8 which is way too slow for a course you pay 240$. There is a certain standard for courses linked to a good resort that charge over 100$/round and this certainly did not live up to expectations.

Great Layout. Great Value

Both of Primm Valley courses are great, but the Lakes course is preferred if you live in the desert since it is a change of scenery. The Desert course may be preferred by visitors who want a true desert style course. The Lakes course has a fantastic layout that requires good shotmaking to go low, but also is forgiving enough for lower handicappers. The conditions are good but not excellent but the layout makes up for it. The course is priced reasonable due to the fact that it is about a 30 minute drive from Las Vegas so they can't charge a premium like other courses in the area. If you don't mind the drive, the seclusion of the course is part of the the charm since there isn't anything around but golf.

One of the best in the desert

I have played multiple courses in the Arizona/las Vegas area and this is definitely one of the best. If you are visiting the desert and want good views along with your round, then this is the best there is. The course is always in fantastic shape. It does not play long due to the multiple elevated tee boxes, but still provides a good test. Anyone who writes a bad review on this course should not be taken seriously for further golf reviews. It is definitely worth the drive and money compared to the other options in the Las Vegas area.
