About

I enjoy the good shots, quickly get over the not-so-good shots, and have a mindset that "the next one's going to be a great shot"! Got my GHIN handicap down to a 12, but that was when I was playing alot. Time goes by and keeps me off the golf course more than I would like. I want to say, I drive the ball 220-240, but you know how that goes also...sometimes I'm lucky it gets past the red tees...haha I can say that sense I mostly play from the white tees. But you'll find me hitting from the red tees in a scramble! Niceeeeeeeee! LOL

Windy but Wonderful!

My partner and I showed up 2 hrs before our 12pm tee time. Sign in was easy! Friendly staff. Snack bar staff prepared our breakfast sandwich and juice Lockett split.
We took some time to hit some balls prior to our tee time on #10. Marshall’s couldn’t be friendlier. Snack driver came around often. Down side was that there was no water on the course. Hope that changes soon! And I get it but it was a little annoying when we would drive our carts close to restricted zones but guess that’s why the course is in such good shape. All in all… The rest was up to us to play well and just enjoy the “plush carpet” bent grass fairways this beautiful Winter Day!

Not What It Use To Be

The course is obviously struggling. The property is owned by the county who isn’t putting money into it so I can see why the owner doesn’t want to invest his own funds in leased property. People need to call the county and ask them to designate some of our tax dollars into this property that offers outdoor activities to its community residents. The cart paths are in really bad shape and the fairways need seeding. The layout of the course is beautiful with elevated tees throughout the course and the greens are usually always in great shape. I e never known them to be fluffy so they afford a nice speed when putting. Quail Creek is actually a players course, in my opinion, with plenty of sand traps and water hazards. There’s no reason at this time of year not to have ball washers on each hole and iced cold water on designated holes. Offer a few golfers free golf, who would be willing to change out the water jugs, and then go play golf (a barter type system). I get the impression the Golfnow clients aren’t appreciate here. My Golfnow Passport starts June 2021 and I’m really excited to be getting lots of Golfnow Hot Deals and want to know my business is appreciated by courses who offer Golfnow Hotdeals, even though they aren’t making any money on Hotdeals. Ive introduced alot of golfers to Quail Creek over the years because I love having a local course. I remember the days when the course was filled with golfers. Our money supports this struggling local golf course so please play here as often as you can ... and bring a friend or two who love the challenge of tight fairways. I would also suggest being generous with your group and allowing them to bump up their ball as the fairways are noticeably thin right now. It makes for better shots and golf wasn’t meant to be played on dirt. Hit em staright!

Beautiful Fairways and Greens

I arrived early for my 1:10 PM teatime, just as a two person scramble was finishing and went inside and the girl at the counter was working so hard taking care of everyone and wasted no time taking care of me and getting me cleared to play golf. After the scramble, there weren’t that many players out on the golf course, so I really didn’t have to worry about the pace of play. I found the fairways to be well-maintained and the greens were all in great shape. There was water on every four or five holes along with ball cleaners. The cart paths were also in good shape. Lots of trees but fairly wide fairways. Plenty of water and sand traps to get in trouble if your shot slices or hooks. The price is right and the staff was very courteous, so I will be referring this golf courseTo my fellow golfers. To the Acorns staff: thank you for a fun day!

Greens Are Fantastic! You Gotta Play this Course!

After having had a bad experience at Quail Creek in S St Louis MO, with NO water on their golf course and a very rude manager, I decided it’s time to find another course and venture a little farther from home. I’m so glad I did! I saw the positive reviews in Golfnow for The Acorns which I haven’t played for years. Just driving up the long driveway, I knew I was going to enjoy this course. The fairways looked plush and luscious. And the green looked just as nice. Oh yeah! With all the rain we’ve had in this area, I was happy it was NOT cart path only, which we all know makes for a longer and tedious game. Kudos to Ryan and Rita who both assisted me in getting on that first tee. The price was very reasonable and I’m definitely looking forward to coming back and playing this course! The course is laid out nicely and my ball rolled smoothly on the greens. I’ll be back soon!

One Of My Favorites!

It was a cool and even misty day to play, but we still found this course to be exactly what I wanted. Lots of trouble, long par 3's, some water, sand traps had water in them unfortunately due to weather. The ball sits up so nice on these bent grass fairways. Hit em straight and you will have a most pleasant game. It's also THE course to play when leaves start falling as there are very few leaves floating around on this course. Lots of highland grasses though and you're not likely to find your ball.

Fairways Was Like Playing on Dirt & Back Greens Aerated

Didn't know the course was just aerated when I booked. Fairways (zoysia) was like playing off dirt. Counter person didn't inform me we had to make the turn before a ladies league started on the back 9. It was just expected my other player & I skip a hole. I paid my money too & didn't feel it was handled right. Can't recommend right now in shape course is in.

This course was once a hidden treasure. New Management is working to revive the course by honoring military & first responders, with special discounts.

Currently, the driving range is closed, so your warmup will most likely have to be on the first tee. There's also no practice putting area. Once you find the first tee, you'll find this slightly hilly course has a difficult layout and finding your way from hole to hole might be callenging the first few times you play this course. There's a lack of signage pointing you to the next hole. I'm a civilian, who's played a few times out there recently with a veteran and he helped me to understand that, once you have completed your objective (reaching the last green), you're on to your next target (the next green). Military and first responders don't want to have to use tactics to get to the next hole; they just prefer signs; they just want to play golf!

You'll want to keep your ball in the fairways, which is do-able with plenty of open landing areas, but there are lots of trees, ponds, creeks and thick rough areas, where you can definitely get into trouble. If you slice or hook, just make sure you have plenty of balls in your bag. The wide fairways are in good shape but the greens are slow, which will most likely add to your score. Also, make sure you leave some snacks in your car, as there is little food to purchase in the clubhouse right now, but a hotdog just might hit the spot when you head back to the clubhouse from Hole #9 before you head out to #10.

I think the club, under this new management, has the right idea, to honor all military and first responders, who are the reason we golfers can enjoy the freedoms we do in this great country, USA! Whether we are having a good (or not so good) day on the golf course, I think if these military and first responders congregate at any one place, such as Deer Creek GC (who is trying to attract them to their course to honor them), there is always a sense of comradarie between them, no matter which branch they currently serve or have served. Being an avid golfer, playing 20 years now, I've played on military bases as a female civilian with SEALS, Chief-of-the-boat, Colonels, and other servicemen, but there's just that something in the air when these special forces are around. Deer Creek GC has a ways to go to improve the appearance of their course, playing conditions and clubhouse, but they definitely have the right idea. I hope you will show your support to this golf course, by bringing out one of these special people for a game of golf. I'm sure they all know the Rules of Engagement yet I believe this Game of Ettiquette will be a challenge for any special forces or civilians, who want to spend four hours doing maneuvers at Deer Creek GC!

For me, personally? My game isn't as good as it once was, but I'm going to enjoy just about any course I play, when I take the time to play golf. It's been a little more lately, and I usually play ok from the white tees, driving the ball 220-240. I'm constantly working on my game, like everyone else. GHIN Handicap use to be 12, but not playing enough, caused it to climb up there a bit. I hate that! But I especially enjoy the good shots! Aren't they wonderful? Makes it worth coming back, Ha! I find it easy to get over the not-so-good ones, I guess because I have some pretty solid mechanics that I fall back on alot. I'll leave you with a thought that helps me. When you step onto that first tee. Just REMEMBER! "Every shot is going to be a GREAT SHOT...except when it isn't. HaHa! Then you just say....Oh Well...The next one is going to be a GREAT SHOT!"

And REMEMBER one more thing! We're NOT Pros! We're just normal, every day civilians and...oh yeah...that other group of "very special people"!

About GOLFNOW.com.........I booked 2 tee times through GOLFNOW.com which is quite convenient (as long as you remember login and password...lol) and when we got to the course, they pulled up my name, we signed for the cart and we drove off into the sunset...oh I mean to the first tee box. What I love about GOLFNOW.com is that I can book a teetime any hour of the day or nite. I can see all the tee times that are available for a particular course, which gives me a lot of flexibility in scheduling my tee times. I know there are some courses that do not participate with GOLFNOW.com. They are missing the boat! I don't understand why EVERY public golf course does not use GOLFNOW.com to book tee times for golfers wanting to play their courses. It speeds up their point of sale process, which means their counter person can focus on other areas in the pro shop. Plus I rarely book any tee times that I can't find in GOLFNOW.com It's just too easy for me to go there when booking my tee times. Just saying!
