Best Course I've Ever Played

Breathe Taking..
From the second we arrived at this beautiful golf community, to the time we left, "wow" was said a lot. Wickenburg is a home run, bucket list course. On the third leg of our annual buddies trip, the golf advisor best of 2018 list did not lie.

The course is spectacularly laid out, and is playable for all skill levels (assuming you select the appropriate tee). My favorite part about this course (and Arizona golf) is the way you have to think you way around the course.

To say I have one favorite hole of the 18, would be tough to do, but the most intimidating shot would be the 13th I believe, the Wickenburgh signature hole, par 3. From the blues it played around 220 yards with a forced carry over water. the green is very large, and of course with the downhill, it does not play true to the yardage, but puts some scary thoughts in your head.

The par 5 18th hole is a great finisher, and very good hole to resolve the rounds bets. I was lucky enough to make birdie, and enjoyed a free beer, because of it.

The only "concern" I would have is that the green are scary fast, even for the best of putters. Could easily scare people away, and turn a great ball striking round, into a waste. There are a lot of three putts to be had.

But overall, this is a place I will go back to EVERYDAY of the week and every time I am in Arizona.

Thanks for taking the time to provide some focused feedback on your experience with us. We are glad to saw some value and truthfulness in our Golf Advisor Best of 2018 ranking. It truly is a great course and one that is challenging but fair. We hope to have you back out soon to see if you can tackle Wickenburg Ranch!

Fun Desert Golf; Fun Layout

Golf Club of Estrella is a short drive from the heart of Scottsdale. The greens are fast, undulated and true. The wind played a major factor in our round, but out of the managements control.

Very nice range and practice facility; everything you need to get dialed in for your round. As was the case in much all of the courses we played, Estrella is a target golf course. Meaning you're going to leave the big stick int he bag and play for position, versus grip it and rip it.

The finishing holes, 17 (major up hill par 3) and 18 (right back down the hill) are pretty fun finishes and which make for great photo souvenirs. Besides these two holes, there was really memorable that stuck out in a positive or negative way.

Would recommend for anyone to come here and play, if they are in Arizona and looking for a very good value.

Relaxing Atmosphere

FIrst stop on our annual #BuddiesTrip2019. Papago is situated about 10 minutes from the PHX airport, and is the home of Instagram sensation, CartBarnGuys. Papago was recently renovated, due to Arizona State moving there. 10/10 for atmosphere.

We had some time to kill before our round, so we grabbed a bite at the restaurant which overlooks the 1st and 10th tee, as well as the driving range.. Very Cool!

Practice Facilities were very nice. Hitting on the Range with the Camelback mountains in the distance, was a nice change from what we are used too. A little disappointing that we had to pay $14 for a large bucket of range balls.

Front and back 9's start with reachable par 5's (from the blue tees). Nice to have a 3 shot hole to start any round of golf in my opinion. Course overall has a fun layout, with a variety of long and short holes.

It seemed as though most par 5's were reachable in two, but forced your hand with a layup, due to well protected, large greens. Par 4's werent too long, but forced you to make a decision to take the conservative route and have a mid iron in, or be agressive and be punished or rewarded, depending on the outcome.. I love that type of course management. FInally the par 3's seemed to be the teeth of the course, as they were all over 200 yards, except for 1 that I recall.

Greens were fast, but true! Fairways were generous, but if you are off the beaten path, be aware. I would recommend (if your playing mated approve) list and sweep away the rocks around your ball. I destroyed my AW by hitting from the desert.

Big props to the management team for having every 3-4 holes, a full water jug! Arizona is hot, and dry. Its a small, but very noticeable detail.

Will be back

Better than i remember

Second time playing here, thus my second review.. Been wanting to get back for a while, but things finally fell into place. Course in 4 hours-ish from Quebec city, so accessibility is tough, but worth the drive if you're in the area.

The fairways were playing firm and fast (a few patches here and there) but hats mostly due to the historically hot summer. Overall the course was in excellent conditions. Greens were very very slow, but very receptive.

The thing I enjoyed that not a lot of courses in this area offer, is choice off of the tee. The layout is so much fun to play, but trouble looms with water and trees. So driving needs to be on point.

New Find

Ive been wanting to make the 30 minute drive here for a while, but finally got the chance. Not the longest course ive played by any means, but certainly a course that makes you think off of the tee.

The front 9 and back 9 play completely different. A lot more drivers on the front, while a lot more to think about on the back. Once again, not the longest course but some of the green complexes make you think, and can lead to 3 putt central.

A few good views on the course. Will defiantly be back

Awesome Course; Amazing views!!

Great historic course in La Malbaie. Charlevoix is a fantastic spot (aside from the golf also) and I would go back everyday of the week.
Arrival at the course, you hike 1.5km up a mountain to the course sitting on top with breathe taking views of the Bas-St. Laurent. Course consists of three 9 hole loops.
We played all three in our two days there. Course is in fantastic shape, with very big greens and fairways with lots of undulation.
Practice range is small, but fun. you cant hit woods, but thats fine. Essentially hitting it down a big mountain. So much fun to watch the air time that the ball gets.
As a resort course, the fairways are very welcoming. At 6000-6200 yards depending on the courses you play, its a course that doesnt require driver off every hole as some holes are tighter then others. Great par 3's, pas 4's and very scorable par 5's.. honestly I would reccomend this spot to anyone looking for a great golf experience.

At $90 (right before prime season) and $65 (twilight) I feel that we got decent value, considering what a round costs during the prime summer months.

** The only negative was the rain policy. We paid the twilight late as we arrived and had a 3pm tee time and started with no rain as indicated on the forecast. After 9 holes, and because we couldnt see 50ft in front of us due to fog, we stopped and asked for a reimboursement of the 9 we didnt play. We were rudely told that "they cant control the weather, and it was on us".. at worst we asked if we can be given a credit for the following day since we are coming back, but still, this was refused.

All in all, our Saturday round in the sun was very special.

Great challenge of golf

Do not let this 6000 yard golf course (from the tips) fool you! It is a tight track where club selection and placement off of the tee is at a premium. I like to play a course twice before i leave comments, but I do not know when I will be back unfortunately. This allows me to get an idea of the layout for the second time i play it.. regardless, i thoroughly enjoyed my round here. for the above average golfer, the opportunity to score is there based on well positioning your ball off of the tee. I Do not feel this is a course that bombers thrive at, unless they are straight, because a lot of the holes are lined tightly by trees.
Great finishing par 5 with a small green makes for a tough finish

Kingswood got it right!!

Have played this course more times than I can count. Simply said, it is always a challenge, and always a pleasure to play.
It is always in top notch condition,, the greens are always consistent and the fairways and rough are well kept.

The layout is fun, with a nice mix of par 3's, par 4's and par 5's. fairways are large and receptive enough allowing you to use all of the clubs in your bag. What I really enjoy, is that there are always options for each shot (aggressive or conservative).

The 9 hole signature is a fun challenge too!! would recommend Kingswood Park Facility to anyone who plays golf, regardless of their level.

Worth the wait...

Picture this.. after three years of trying, we pull up the Osprey with Stranglehold by Ted Nugent playing..

This place is a kingdom, for a $56 hot deal, it was so worth the wait to play there. Word to the wise, tee times are tough to come by unless you have a Frequent Players Card. The demand to play here is insane, but so understandable once you arrive and experience it

Practice facilities were impeccable. Driving Range, Chipping, Putting game areas are all located right by the starter and the three 1st tees. We played Hawk and Raven.

The course is perfect, honestly, there are no words. From the tee boxes, to the fairways, to the greens to the rough.. everyhting is perfect.

Its a course thats large "enough" but not "too" forgiving. if youre in the junk, well good luck. Amazing to see the wildlife there, we saw two crocs on the tee boxes.

We decided after our round that we will 100% plan 2-3 rounds here every boys golf trip, because it is that nice.

Only negative, there was a sllow group, two groups ahead. Some locals told us in the pm thats unfortunatley normal. But i guess understandable since its easy to lose balls. This DID NOT ruin my day. allowed us to snap a few pictures

The happiest place on earth!!

This place is just.. fun!
From the second we arrived, we were greeted with such kindness and hospitality by everyone we came across. The club house and locker rooms are, extremely outdated, but you dont play golf there. Very nice practice facilty, great for getting dialed in..
For me, one of the most fun parts was the music blaring while we were on the range. Its really just a fun and relaxed atmosphere, the way golf should be played in my opinion. Starter was very kind and gave us some local course knowldge.
This is a course where you need to select your clubs. There is no gps in the cart, so a bushnell or a garmin watch would come in handy. Not the best course conditions I have ever seen, but im not picky. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and would be go anytime..

Number 3 and 18 (pictures) are two really fun holes. I went bogey bogey on those two, but really enjoy signature holes on any course.

Just some random thoughts:
-Guy driving around in a cart offerring shots of rum to people. We didnt indugle, but he was very nice and respectful and just wanted to see that everyone was having fun i assume. No problem there.

-On the 18th green, I noticed a "suggestion box" in the lake. Thought that was funny, and again emphasized on their fun atmosphere.

Finally, the Tiki bar.. you have to try to tacos after 9!! and a shout out the lady making them (forget her name) but she was so nice, and the gentlemen serving us with the name tag "Tiger", awesome dude!

Whatever knowledge they have on hospitality, they should share with others.. Fantastic day

Pro course, not pro conditions

-Heard about this course through a trusted party.. Went there knowing we would probably walk away with our tails between our legs, and did. This is a tough course people, be prepared to manage your game and leave the driver in the bag on all but 5-6 holes MAX!
-Really enjoyed the challenge of the course. It is very very tight, not much room for error..
-I suggest bringing a range finder because yardages arent marked too well. This should help with course management.
-Dissapointed with course conditions, for $58, I expected more (Tee box photo too big to upload)
-Driving range was ratty and beat up.. I dont know the financial situation of the course, but it was the worst driving range of our 5 day golf trip
- Didnt see the cart girl once on our 18 hole sunny day. When we stopped in after 9 for a hot dog, I asked if there was one working, and she was sitting at the bar having a drink.. then asked us if we need anything..

Id go back and play this course because I like the challenge and have a little more course knowledge now.. but isnt a must

Tight and makes you think..

First trip on a boys trip. My first impression of the first tee was, "how far is that?".. This I would say is not a course for average to below average golfers, but it is a really fun course none the less. Its a course that makes you think about every shot, use every club in the bag. I am a 9 handicap with a straight drive, but I found myself questioning club selection at every tee. Often times, pulling out a wood or hybrid off the tee is the right play..
Course has a lot of water, lots of dog legs, and large and undulating greens. Greens ran fast i thought, but it was our first golf in months (still managed a decent score). A few really beautiful holes with forced carry over water.. all in all, it is easy to see why this course is 95% reccomended. We would all gladly go back and play it anytime

IMpressed; But not blown away

After hearing so much about this course for years, was excited to finally play it.. Nestled in the heart of the Cape Breton Highlands, one must sit back in awe of the layout and what it USED TO BE.. I am aware that the course was only recently sold and is no longer in control of the government. For that I give two thumbs up. The course played firm and fast, but the overall conditions, including the tee boxes were just simply unacceptable for the price ($95 for Cape Breton Residents). New owners just invested 5 million into hotel (Keltic Lodge), and rumour has it that they will invest into the golf course in the near future.
We played from the white tees as recommended by my playing partners. It allowed for us to challenge the par 5's and have tough, yet fair shots into par 3's and 4's. Green were FAST but true, and seeing the ball fly into the mountains after a tee shot and roll for miles on the hilly fairways was a treat.
Looking forward to seeing what is done to the course conditions moving forward and I was told that they want to keep the course as a true links style (which I am all in favour for). In my personal opinion, it would be best for them to give the place a major face lift and contact Cabot Cliffs/Links to package some type of deal, because one can truly see its potential

Final point is that there are many ways to play this course. Forces you to use many and all clubs in your bag if you wish. Looking forward to seeing it again next year

Walked

No Words...

No words, simply, no words to describe this place. Everyone has heard the hype around it, and it will simply meet and surpass any and all expectations. The conditions were incredible, the views were breathe taking and the walk was.. tiring!! *if you can splurge for a caddie, I advise it, as it has some big hills, and it doesn't hurt to have the local course knowledge because there are blind shots, and not knowing the greens with massive undulation hurt as well.

There are many different tee options to please all golfers. I am pretty confident that before every shot, I just looked around in amazement. Greens so lightning and EVERYTHING, no matter what, breaks towards the water. we played on a semi windy day from the silver tees. It made some holes play longer and others, a lot shorter. You can use all the clubs in your bag if you choose, its simply a treat to play.

Only negative was that we had a group ahead of us with a guy we labelled "PRO JOE". He was playing from the back tees and although I'm not one to judge anyone's golfing ability, he did not belong there. must have waster 20-30 minutes looking for balls. Long story short, don't be a "PRO JOE", accept that this course is one of the tougher courses you will play, but your pride aside and play the right tees. You will enjoy your round a lot more chasing birdies and trying to make par saves, then looking for balls and saving for a triple.

Worth a visit

one of the older courses in quebec from what my playing partner told me. Thought this was a nice course to play with a decent layout. The thing that I liked most about this course was that you can really use every club in your bag which I find rare among modern courses.

Greens were very long and slow. Made putting a challenge. Tee boxes were spotty and very uneven. Early in the year, so I assume that they will tighten up. But a course I would have no problem playing any day of the week. Some great views on a couple holes

Perfect Day.. A Must Play

This was the last course we played on our boys trip and it was worth the wait.. First off we found an amazing deal on GolfNow. The second that we arrived, we were greeted by very friendly and welcoming staff. The day is really an experience. The facilities were the best I have ever been to in my life as a golfer.

The course from 1st tee to 18th green was amazing, and flawless. Grrens were fast and true, bunkers were well kept, fairways were in great conditions and the ball rolled.

Island green 7th hole is a special hole to play. I splashed it in the water but managed to save my bogey.

We also took a spin by the blue monster on the way back as they were setting up for the GDC. Cant say many more good things about our experience. Would love to someday go back and play all of the courses on the property because they look that good

Very happy with our experience. Layout was great (Marlin and Dolphin).. the course plays a lot longer then you would expect, especially with wind in the face. Good Value, Great Day

First time I played a TPC Course. We were lucky to get a great deal because of a booking problem with GolfNow. I think it is important that if you play this course, you must play from the right tees. We had some front wind for the first 3-4 holes and the holes played longer for sure.

Overall I thought that the layout was great, what I would expect from a TPC course. Tee boxes and some of the fairways were not at the best level, but for February, maybe that's normal in Florida.

Greens were fast and true, really enjoyed my round

From what I heard, this was the tougher of the two courses Jacaranda has (tighter). I would say that this is a very true statement. Had a great day driving and was very impressed with the quality of the fairways and greens (fast and true).. Tee boxes weren't the best I've seen, but seemed comparable to most tee boxes in Florida for February. The layout way great and allowed us to have short irons in on most par 4's and have a chance to go for the green on most par 5's in two.. Will be back again

Best int he area

Located in the small (don't blink of you'll miss it) town of BIC, Golf de club de BIC is the best course in the beautiful bas st-laurent.
located right next to it, it offers breathe taking views, and is always is peak condition. it offers a variety of hole set ups and elevation changes. I have personally never walked it because, well I just don't like to walk when I play golf, but I think that it would be a tough walk. A lot of hills and really elevated tee boxes.
Greens always roll true, faster then average and very receptive. I would play here any day of the week.
Being the nicest course in the area, it is more expensive then then others, but it is worth it for at least one round there
Already looking forward to getting back out there again t his year
