Bull Run Golf Club

With the temperatures in the 90's and the humidity, I want to really thank the cart lady who was providing g free water and ice during the round. Even though I brought Gatorade along with me, the cart lady was astutely aware of the conditions and sought to ensure we were hydrated. I attempted to tip her and she refused it. What a wonderful and thoughtful person. Thank you.

This use to be one of my favorite courses to play. However over the years their price have increased while the quality of the course have declined. For example, green consistency. This past Sunday, holes one & two were fast. Hole 3 near the cup was like putting into mud.
Throughout the round, we found the greens being one or the other.
I know this is being very picky, but the experience versus the price point is important these days, with so many other courses in the area to choose from it makes it hard to pay premium prices and not have a premium course.

I returned to this course because of how much I liked it the first time I played it. This experience was not as good and are reflected in my ratings.
First, the starter, the pro shop etc., were staffed either high school or college kids and I am unsure golf acumen. The starter never told me I could go to the tee box or that I was suppose to join the threesome who left for the No. 1 tee, or I could play by myself. Whatever...
The greens were terribly slow for as close as the were cut. These are my observations and Perhaps it was simply an off day, for both the course and myself.
I would be willing to go back and try it again.

The course was in fair condition considering the numerous days of above 90 degrees temps. The greens were in good condition, but hard and the ball ran, especially on chips.
I would not recommend this as a walking course. It's would be a long walk between hole 1 and 2.

This is one of my favorite courses in the area. It's nestled up against the hills and has several beautiful holes where you hit fro tee boxes nested back in the hill/mountain.
This particular day the greens were running very fast. Several of the pin positions I thought were in cruel spots of the green, but that is OK. It made it challenging.
The pace of play was a bit slow, but I assumed it was because it was a holiday and an exceptional beautifully warm day.
All in all, this is a course you should play.
