Greens Need Help!

I've played Pine Forest many times over the years and this is about the worst conditions I've seen it in. The greens are particularly in rough shape. I understand that the bad winter weather we experienced this year has impacted some of the area courses but Pine seems to have been hit more than most. Fairways and tee boxes weren't much better.

Hopefully the rain that's scheduled for this week will help the course recover and green up some. This is usually one of the better values in the area and I'll still return to play again and hope for the best regarding conditions.

The layout is challenging, the staff is awesome and the restaurant is good as well. May be time for some monetary nvestment from the owners to bring things up to par. With improved conditions, Pine Forest could easily charge the higher fees that most other area courses are charging. It's a balancing act for course owners but I'd love to see a turnaround at "Little Augusta" and even see a competitive tournament return to Pine!

Good Conditions

I'm a frequent player and play this course once a month or so. Course was overall in very good condition. The green-side bunkers needed a lot of work though. Had to take a drop in the green-side traps a.couple of times due to unplayable lies (wet, soggy and un-manicured). Fairways, greens and tee boxes were all in great shape, although greens we're running slow (8'ish on the stimp).

The course could stand to come down a bit on their rates for locals. After all, this is a muni.

The teeing area at the range was moved up to an area that was very sloppy wet. Looked like they were blocking off the regular teeing area to get ready for the tournament later this month.

No beverage cart girl since she was on the outdoor grill at the turn. Good set-up for a food break at the turn.

Nice restaurant/bar area. Pro shop was adequate. Staff very friendly all the way around from pro shop to starter to cart attendants. Didn't see a ranger on the course during the entire round. Players were policing themselves well. Round took 4-1/2 hours...good pace for a Sunday in October.

The course aesthetics doesn't beg me to come back, though I'm sure I will. Nothing dramatic about the layout or visuals. Adding some colored foliage would make the course more memorable. Throw in some Azaleas, crepes, pampas grass seasonal plants to make up for the average layout.

Nice course

Have played this course many times and have no reason not to continue coming back. The GolfNow rates offer a great value. The 27 holes offer a good range of hole layouts, although not many doglegs. The greens and fairways are always in good shape (greens played fast today, maybe a 9). Stay clear of the rough as it will cost you at least 1/2 a stroke, as it should.. Friendly staff as well. Looking forward to playing here again soon.
