I was very impressed with the layout of this course, with a great variety of hole shapes and distances. It was my first time around but fortunately played with folks with course knowledge. I debated about the course condition score and my 3 star rating is mostly because of how firm the greens were. It was very difficult to hold the green on many of the holes, especially when downwind. A few greens are open to the ground game but many are wonderfully protected by imaginative bunkering or water. Unfortunately, these greens were hard to hold (I do not get as much spin on the ball as I did when I was younger). There were also some rough spots around the course and the sand in the bunkers was very inconsistent but that really doesn't bother me as much. The greens looked great and rolled well and some of the pin positions were challenging. So, many fun factors to this course. By the way, as others have mentioned, the fairways and especially the "rough" is also very firm so either hit straight tee shots or take less club to allow for all of the bounce and roll.

An enjoyable round by all of us. Greens were is great shape, fairways were fine, tee boxes and bunkers were OK. The dormant bermuda rough was pretty thin and the ground was damp but nothing unexpected. The meandering concrete creek on the back nine was dry but all of the ponds had plenty of water.Greens were moderately sloped with some subtle breaks and rolled at a moderate speed. Friendly staff including beverage cart. No ball washers on the course.

To me, the most important element of any course are the conditions and especially the greens. The greens here were a little short on grass and this accentuated the high amount of slope in play. Many greens have false fronts, making front pins very tricky to get close to. And all greens provide sharp breaking putts at the hole as you lose speed. Fairways and tee boxes were fine. The dormant bermuda rough was a little thin as expected. Very friendly folks in the pro shop. Very nice ball washers on every hole. Not much roll in the fairways. Layout is fine - the course defense is on the greens and with the tree lined fairways.

Beautiful course in exceptional condition. Lots of elevation, lots of trees, lots of sand. You need to consider where all of the hills are before deciding on the break of your putt. No two holes are alike. Very enjoyable day!

Have played Rams Hill 6 or 7 times over the years and it never disappoints. Everything here is top notch and the course is just a lot of fun to play.

It has been a while since I made the trip to Moorpark to play Rustic canyon and it remained a great experience except for one major factor - the greens were so firm that it was extremely difficult to hold them with a shot from any distance over 120 yards. Other than that, the greens putted well and the rest of the course was in great condition. There are a couple of funky holes on the front side (like #7) but if you play here more than every 5 years I am sure that you will figure out the right way to play them. Too bad my occasional great approach bounced over the back of the green or it would have been a great day on the links.

We had a foursome and all had a good time. I believe the back 9 to be the more challenging and to possess more character. The first 7 holes are nice but not as interesting as the rest. In addition, they are preparing the front nine for home construction so there is a lot of heavy equipment moving about. Conditions were good all the way around - greens rolled nicely, bunkers well maintained. There are a handful of terrific holes (8, 9, 13, 14 and 18) although you need to play 13 a time or two to appreciate it. The finishing hole is spectacular, as is the view from the Cliff House patio.

A 1999 Gary Panks design, it looks much older in a traditional way. Hilly terrain with many elevated greens and very deep bunkering. Most holes have a safe side of the fairway to avoid bunkers (but not on #1). Very good conditions except in the dormant rough and some fairway bunkers were low on sand (made getting out easier however). Greens rolled nicely although not as fast as the practice green. Overall, a very enjoyable round.

I would rank Quintero as one of the Top 3 public courses in Arizona in terms of the imaginative layout, the immaculate conditioning, how you are treated and the fun that you will have. The quartet of par 3s are fabulous, with panoramic views from the tees of three of them. It can be pricey but worth it. Be sure to pick the correct set of tees for your driving length and overall abilities or your experience may suffer.

Very high on the fun factor. Front nine is fairly straightforward but the back nine is lovely and has more character. Sand traps were in bad shape but the rest of the course was in good condition. Most importantly, we had a great time.

Played on a picture perfect day and the course was in good condition. Greens were rolling beautifully. Some very nice holes and a couple of funky ones but this course rates very high on the fun factor.

A great strategic course - well bunkered yet accepting of a ground game. Lots of variety with short and long par 3s, 4s and 5s. Conditioning was excellent, expecially the greens. One of my favorite courses in the greater Phoenix area.

Ok, some of the fairways were not very food so just roll the ball to some grass. And pay attention to the tips on the scorecard as there are a few holes where max distance off the tee is a bad idea. Somewhat surprisingly, the greens were pretty nice but had severe humps and ridges.

The next time I am in the area, this course is certainly on my list to play. Lots of up and down but well designed into a great layout. Compared to many other courses, the conditioning was also very good., especially the greens. Played with some guys who are semi- regulars and the local knowledge was very helpful. Some great views and some beautiful holes, including two of the most challenging holes in the area - 16 and 17.

This is normally a 5 star course but this was not a usual day at Ram's Hill. First off, they apparently have had issues with the overseeding process, resulting in a number of pretty bare places in some fairways. Second, we followed a large Fireman Outing and while I applaud them for their service to the community, they were not best at maintaining the course - lots of ball marks not repaired, lots of foot damage on the greens, sunflower shells on tee boxes and a very slow pace - nearly 5 hours. But it is such a fantastic course design that it still rated 4 stars and I am sure that it will be 5 stars again when I visit next year.

Considering that it is late January, the course is in very good condition - still green in many areas. Greens are on the slow side but roll well. Fairways and tee boxes are mostly good.

By any measure, be it layout, course conditions, fun to play - this is the best public golf course in Green Valley. I play it every year when I come down here and it never disappoints. Chose your tees wisely for maximum enjoyment as the blue tees add a lot of challenge to the round.
