Sandpiper at Spring Lake Golf Club
Played On 10/30/2022Unfriendly, unwelcoming and run poorly
We tee'd off at 7:10 and were the second group out. My buddy and I were joined by a nice guy and we all thought being the second group out we would have a fun quick round. The group ahead of us went to each other's balls, discussed every shot and were painfully slow to follow, especially considering they had nobody in front of them. Four holes in we called to complain, the starter said she would come out and take care of it. Of course she did not. At the turn we saw her again and complained, and she proceeded to tell us that the guys ahead "play here all the time and are not slow". I don't know what her definition of slow is but having 3 groups jammed on every par four waiting for each shot is slow to me. To make matters worse we then had to go play the nine hole course as our back nine and they had already been putting groups out on that and so we now had to wait for the group ahead of us as well as the people they now had to wait for. We left after 13 holes. Clearly the course had locals who are favored and they have little regard for the golfers experience. I will never play there again, and it is a shame because the course itself is nice.
Rock Hill Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/31/2021Slow every time
Today we teed off at 8:40 and we ended up walking off the course after 15 holes. We saw the Ranger one time and we explained that there was a hold up ahead of us and he said he would address it. We left the course after just four hours and playing 15 holes. The last two holes took us 40 minutes to play so it likely would’ve been a five hour round. It’s been playing slowly all summer long and unfortunately I don’t think I will be coming back again soon.
Mill Pond Golf Course
Played On 10/14/2019Something changed
I am reviewing Mill Pond again because it has changed. I have played here five times since July. I played 4 of those rounds on Wednesdays around 11 AM. Out of all of these times I have yet to play a round in under 4-1/2 hours. The course is 6300 yards long. The pace of play is unbearable. Today we left after 2-1/2 hours on hole 10. Unfortunately I believe they are flooding the course with too many people for money with no regard for the golf experience. It is a big disappointment.
Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club

My friend and I decided to try this course on a Wednesday at 11:30 AM. The course is interesting there’s elevation and the greens are in good shape. The problem was that my round took five hours. It seems like a long time for a Wednesday at noon.
Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We are glad to see you rated the course conditions to be great during your game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Regulation Eighteen at Smithtown Landing Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
West at Grandover Resort
Played On 01/19/2019Great find in Greensboro
This course is beautiful. It was January so the grass was brown but that is to be expected. The layout was amazing. The greens ran true. I always play Bryan Park when I am in town, however this might be my go to from now on. I know some people complain about the price however I think it was well worth it.

I am only writing this to let readers know that this course apparently does not stick to the alloted time slots, or at least it seems that way. We teed off at 2 pm saturday. I assumed teeing off that late would make the round a little bit less crowded. It took 40 minutes to play the first two holes. On three we were behind 4 groups waiting! The "ranger" said it would open up after the fourth hole. It ended up being a 3-1/2 hour front nine. We left. There seems no way they allowed only 5 groups out each hour. It was ridiculous.
Dogwood/Oak Tree at Middle Island Country Club
Played On 02/21/2018Wednesday in February
I played this course with two friends a week ago. The weather was forecasted to be warm especially for February. The front nine took 2-1/2 hours. No joke, in the afternoon in February. That wasn't the real issue. There were no rakes in any of the bunkers and there was a ton of maintenance that was not being done. I have played in here before, more in season and remember it being nicer than my last experience. All in all it was good to get out, but comparatively not a great experience.
Bally’s Golf Links at Ferry Point
Played On 10/25/2017Good, not great
This course has the feel of a private course. You certainly are made to feel special and taken care of. The course is pretty and challenging. It however is surrounded by projects on one side and next to nothing attractive all the way around. I would say go play and get the experience however I would not seek to play is twice. I just prefer more scenic courses.
Tobacco Road Golf Club
Played On 09/23/2017Very cool
This course is very challenging and difficult. I found that is was also one of the most unique courses I think you could ever play. It is certainly the most unique course I have ever played by a long shot. We played with a local who played 3 times a week. Thank god we had his local knowledge to help us navigate the courses many treacherous potential dangers. Even knowing what they were we still found many of them! The course plays slow because most people are first time players and understandably it is hard that way.
Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club
Played On 06/28/2017Might as well play Saturday morning at nine.
I went to play on a Wednesday around 3 PM with two friends. We figured it would be a great, fun and stress free round. We were wrong. We waited behind a twosome, and two singles on the first tee and yes the starter let them all go out on their own. We figured once we got through the second hole we could search for an opening and not play behind this grouping or lack there of. The course was jammed with twosomes and singles, literally not enough people to jam the course up if people were paired but as they allowed them to go out, the course played as if you were playing Saturday or Sunday morning at prime time. I will not go back to this course anytime soon and never if it's even somewhat nice weather. It was the worst round I have played in recent memory.
We are sorry for your unpleasant experience here at Stonebridge. If you would like to discuss this further please contact me at 631-724-7500 x114

I loved playing here two years ago. It seems that when the Lessings took over the catering more people found out about the course, and now the level of customer has declined while the number of customers has increased. The course is fun as heck and the greens are challenging. However for a short course you will likely be playing for well over 4 hours.
We are sorry for slow pace of play. Our expected pace of play is between 4- 4 1/2 hours. We hope to see you back soon.
Crab Meadow Golf Course
Played On 06/14/2016Slow
I really like the course itself, however every time I have played here I have had the issue of slow play. It seems that most groups are out for an experience, not necessarily golfing. Groups tend to focus on the social aspect and smoking cigars rather than playing ready golf and having fun doing that.
Bryan Park Champions Course
Played On 05/14/2016Amazing every time
I have gone to visit a friend who moved to NC every year for about 4 years around Easter time. We have played Bryan Park each time I have visited, sometimes each course per visit, as well. I like the players but the champions is amazing. The conditions are always great and the layout is fun and scenic. I cannot say enough about the course and the price is amazing. I come from New York and have yet to find a course anywhere near as nice for less than 100 a round. I love coming and playing here.
Pine Hills Country Club
Played On 02/28/2016Pace was poor
All together it was a positive experience. It was amazing to be able to get out in February, unfortunately everyone and their brother seemed to agree. Being that this was my first time I cannot say whether our experience was common or not. We played a late round and never expected to get a full 18 in, however without being held up every hole on the front nine and then the absolute halt we came to on the back nine, we could have easily gotten 15 or so holes in. No such luck, only 11. I will go back though and give it another try.

I love this course. It is pretty, the staff is nice and the starter is honest. My buddy and I showed up and we play at a quick pace. The starter told us right off the bat to just skip a group that would slow us down. We tee'd off on one when they were on four, we caught them on 6! They were very slow but the heads up allowed us to skip them without feeling badly. I always have had good experiences here.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
