Nice layout. I played the blue tees and it was a nice mix of distances and there were not any quirky holes. Greens were in fine shape and tees and fairways were appropriate for April. Pace of play was a very pleasant surprise. The tee sheet was full and with a mid morning start we finished in 3:20. Overall a great day on the links.

Lot's of places to find trouble at Lonnie. I wasn't expecting the greens to be so fast after a rain. Diabolical is the only word. Finally made sure to leave it below the pin even if it was off the green on the back side.

Course in great shape for January even after a weeks worth of rain. Friendly staff and good pace of play.

Bermuda tees and fairways were great. Bent grass greens were spotty on some holes but overall a fun day.

Greens fast and firm and there are always those 8 round defining shots you have to hit. Always a treat. Wish the course was closer to my house.

After some down years and a couple exploratory outings to test conditions I am satisfied the Challenge is in consistently good shape and I won’t have to read all the current reviews to verify conditions. It is good to have another option back in the regular mix.

I had heard this course was having conditioning issues but decided to give it a go with the first tee time of the day. All I can say is the greens are awesome. Firm fast and true. Yes there are a couple sandy patches on a few greens but overall it will be your putting skill (or lack thereof in my case) that will determine your score. With the exception of one landing area on a par 5 on the back the course conditioning was good. If they could open up 9 green to some air and some sun there would be nothing to complain about. I would go back and do a better job of staying below the hole.

Lochmere is a solid track and in good condition. Good value for money. It’s a busy course and pace of play reflects this.

Had an early morning tee time as a single , third off behind two twosomes. Pace of play was great. Done in Less than 3 hours. Course in great shape. Greens holding and putting true. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

The course was in great shape. The greens were fast and true but holding. We were first off so pace of play was not an issue.

A snafu with booking left me as a single but they sent me out as a single and I played through the 2 groups in front of me and finished in 2 hours. Nice

Friendly staff good condition pace of play was reasonable. I like that the fairways were generous with few or maybe even no forced carries.

Enjoyable early morning round. Played in about 3.5 hours which was nice. The course was in good shape with the green being very good.. the corse is challengings but has plenty of tee choices to fit your game. Saw a manatee off the third green.

This is a first. I have never written a review for a course I never played, but people should know what happened. My group went to the course website and booked the first tee time, 8:00, on a Sunday morning in December a week in advance. It was part of our myrtle beach buddies trip and the plan was to get in 36 holes that day.

We arrived at 7:30 and the gate to the parking lot was closed and there was a sign in the parking lot Course Closed Do Not Enter. We waited until 8:10 and there were still no signs of life and we had to leave and come up with a new plan.

The course looked nice but I can't see us taking another chance on this course for a buddies trip again.

We called at 8:00 for a tee time that morning and got one. Our threesome played in 3 hours following a couple of foursomes. It was December and the bermuda was mostly dormant, but it was in perfect shape. The Bentgrass greens were fast and true. The length from the back is not imposing, but at around 6500 with long par 3s and a par of 71 it demands well struck shots. Since we played so quickly we decided to replay and it was another 3 hour round. Staff was super friendly and the value cannot be beat. This course sits near the halfway point between the Triangle and the beach and would be a good choice to play if you are looking for an intransit round. It has been 7 years since I played it, but it won't be that long before I return.

Both courses were in great shape and the staff could not be friendlier. It was a balmy December day and it was day one of a buddies trip. With the first tee time we thought it might be possible to get in 54 which we did with almost an hour to spare with staff help and encouragement. It was a fun day, but beware of #6 on the east course. Two members of our group decided they could score better by just hitting their drive into the water and play 3 from the drop area. A unique and challenging hole.

The course was worth the fee. Not an architectural gem but a fine place to chase a ball with a decent pace of play and friendly staff.

Solid course. Still soggy from Mathew and a couple greens in sad shape, but still enjoyable.
