If I had one wish it would be when you call a course for a tee time they will have the courtesy to tell you if they’re aerating. We had to drive for an hour to arrive and find this out. I understand courses must aerate and to tell people this they would lose business, but they’ve lost it anyway. We were told we had to play the first 9 twice because they were aerating the back 9. If I had wanted to play 9 twice I could have chosen one of the many 9 holes courses in my area. At the very least there should have been a substantial decrease in price for such deplorable conditions; they knocked $3 off. We played, only to discover on the first green they had just got done aerating in the past few days and so we were putting on sandy greens. Chalk it up to our mistake for not asking. Another problem arose when approaching to start our "back 9". Course etiquette says you take turns with those lined up to do the front 9. The starter let 2 groups that were waiting to start the front 9 out in front of us, instead of sandwiching us in between. When it was brought up that we should be next he said he worked a 9-hole course for years and knows protocol, but had no explanation why he let others out in front of us. To add insult to injury, the first group he let out was so incredibly slow it took us 3 hours to play the “back 9” versus 2 hours to play the “front”. Had a ranger or starter been making periodic runs to see why things just weren’t moving, they would have seen 2 full holes in front of this group and informed said group of courtesy for slow play, which ironically was posted in the cart about slow play and you must keep up with the group in front of you. This group did not let anyone play through. As a result of this dreadful experience, we took our dining and drink business elsewhere and will NOT be returning anytime soon.
