This is a really nice course. It was in great shape and the layout is pretty good. We enjoy it. It was a little slow on the back 9.
(This course is much more interesting than it's Sister course: Legends.)

The course was in great shape. My only peeve is they had the 9th hold closed, they said they were working on the traps. I’m glad they’ve doing maintenance but when we got to the 9th, there wasn’t any equipment or workers on it. I believe we could have played it. Hmmm…

…and now that the Pandemic is over, put the ball washers back.

I've played this course on/off for 20+ years. It's a nice course, good layout, not too hard, sort of forgiving...
I'd like to see them pay a little more attention to the Tees. For example the Tees on #2 & #4 had a lot of weeds & such. The grass on Tee #7 looked like it hadn't been cut for several days. Some of the grass was as tall as the top of the ball (when tee'd up).
The Greens and Fairways were in good shape.
But it's still a nice course. Great Driving Range.

It’s in good shape but a few more brown spots than I would expect for being early in the summer.
One of my biggest pet-peeves is what happened to all the ball washers that used to be at the Tees? Note that many other courses lack them also.

I don't play Rancho often, mainly because it gets very crowded, which means slow play. Today was different. The pace of play was good. Maybe 4-1/2 hrs, which is great for this course. Maybe because it was a little cooler out and we had some very light rain, maybe that kept some folks away.
The Tees and the fairways were a bit worn, but the greens were great.

Overall the course was in pretty good shape. My comments a small but maybe if the course reads them, they'll do something about them.
1. Why aren't there any ball cleaners on the Tees, there used to be? (a few years ago).
2. The traps need some help. Run a machine thru them to dig up some of the weeds and loosen up the sand.
2a. One of the fairway traps on 17 didn't have a rake anywhere near it.
3. One of the other reviews mentioned that the range balls are worn out and sort of dead. Yup, they are...

As usual, the course and greens were in great shape. It was a Thursday so the pace of play was pretty good. It could have been around 3.5 hrs.
But... We didn’t finish.
We were in the 17th fairway, about 185 yds from the green and a swarm of bees attacked us. We ran down the fairway but I still got stung a few times. What sucked was, the cart was still in the middle of it. I had to run back and get the cart and got stung again.
Anyway... we didn’t finish and watch out for bees.

They have a rule: carts must stay in the rough. They drew a Red line at the edge of the fairway. On only one side. And they’re not allowing the 90 degree rule across the fairway. This is slowing play down too much.
They should just do the: Keep carts the the rough (either side) with the 90 rule.

Overall the course and the driving range are in great shape.
My only recommendation to the Westin is, after 20ish years, maybe it’s time to revamp the Pro Shop, food stand and especially the restrooms. And maybe finish putting a shade cover over the outdoor tables.

Overall this is a great course. It's September, the end of a hot summer and the course was in great shape. Everything including the tees, fairways, rough and greens were great. I didn't see any burnt spots.
The driving range is also great. Hitting good range balls off of grass, not plastic.
My only issue is the pace of play. This seems to happen at these Hotel courses. Some of the foursomes in front of us were super slow. Maybe they could get a marshall out there to encourage them along.

This is a great course. The Palm Springs summer is starting, it's getting hot but the course is still in good shape. The Tees, Fairways and rough were still nice & green. The greens are getting a little hard & fast. I'd like to see them run a tractor through some of the traps and loosen the hard pan sand up. One of my pet peeves is the ball washers. They were pretty much all dry and some had broken handles. For a resort style course, love to see them replace the ball washers,.
Overall this is a great course and it's possible to get a good price though Golf Now. Beware that they close early during the week (through the summer). Their last Tee time is around 9am, meaning they want to close the gates by 1 or 2 pm...

This is a great full length (6000+ yards from the blues), recreational course. Play the blacks if you want more. The Tees, Fairways, rough and greens were all in pretty good shape, considering that it's in Palm Desert and hot as heck. I'd like to see them rake the weeds out of the traps and loosen them up. Beware that they don't have a snack/food bar/restaurant in the summer, at least they didn't today. So be sure to bring a small cooler with drinks.

Overall this is a nice course, challenging holes in good shape ( considering it’s Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage.) The tees & the fairways are great, the greens are good-but getting a little hard.
I’d like to see them work the traps a little more, some were collecting water & had that hard finish.
The driving range & pro shop are great.
