Crooked Pines Golf & Swim Club
Played On 09/07/2015Nice greens, but course doesn't honor promotions
Overall a nice course - well kept and greens were in great shape.
However, they don't honor their promotions. Showed up on Labor Day for an early morning tee time with a Hole In One Golf Book coupon to try the course out. According to the coupon, it could be used anytime weekdays, and after 12pm on weekends. Since it was a Monday, I assumed the coupon would be honored. I was wrong. The gentleman working that morning wouldn't accept the coupon, saying that it was a "misprint" and that the owner had intended it to include holidays in the after 12pm restriction. Regardless of intent, the printed coupon didn't restrict holiday usage, so I was very disappointed and irritated that they wouldn't accept it.
The cost was only $35, but that was over double what I had expected to pay, in addition to driving nearly a half an hour to the course. I got some runaround about how "younger guys like me" would come in and expect to be able to use the coupon while the retired guys who normally play don't use it. Not sure what he was driving at, but the point of a promotional coupon like the Hole In One Golf Book is to bring new players to your course.
Needless to say, I won't be going back here. It was a solid course, but I don't particularly like giving businesses that don't honor advertised deals my money.
