Top notch course

This was my first of two rounds that I played this day. I was the first person out on the course at about 6:15am so obviously the pace of play was excellent. It perfect weather and I finished fairly quickly. The course, as usual, was in amazing shape. Tees, fairways, and greens were A+. Other courses in the area should come here and take notes on how to make their bunkers better. The bunkers at Mansion Ridge are perfect. This course is just beautiful, and for $61 you can't beat it.

I'd highly recommend this place. It's fair. It's fun. The course is always in amazing shape, and it's visually stunning. Staff was also great. I only dealt with the starter and the guy in the pro-shop, but both were extremely friendly and nice.

It was great... Until it wasn't

Let me start by saying that this is a fantastic course and really fun to play. Tee boxes were in great shape. Fairways were in great shape. Bunkers were fine. Greens had a lot of ball marks but rolled smooth and fast. The ball marks aren't the fault of the course, but instead are the fault of lazy golfers. Repair your ball marks people! C'mon!! My review would have much higher stars, but based on what transpired after the 9th hole, I'm very weary to give it a good review and come back here. I'd still recommend the course to someone if they asked about it, but I'd also tell them what happened to me the last time I played there. I would absolutely come back to play here if the following hadn't happened.

I went out as a single, so I was fully prepared to wait on tee boxes. But after playing the first 5 holes with no traffic in front of me, I ran into a group at 6. They were awesome and immediately let me play through and at that point I knew I had at least 4-5 open holes in front of me. I was cruising through the course. I get to the 9th hole, shank my tee shot to the right where there's a ranger/starter sitting there. I pull up to him, and he tells me I'm about to run into traffic. I'm a bit confused at this point because I knew I had at least 3 open holes in front of me. He says "You're going to hit a bunch of traffic because I just sent a 3 or 4 replay groups out on the 10th". This, quite frankly, is unacceptable. Why would a course send replay groups out on the 10th hole right in front of other golfers? I play the 10th, and pull up to the 11th tee. There's a group of guys teeing off using Mizuno clubs (replays). In front of them on the 11th green, another group of guys using Mizuno clubs. I literally waited 20 minutes while these guys were looking all over the woods for their balls. I played 11, and got to the 12th tee. These guys each hit at least 2 drives (into the woods) so I decide not to wait and drive past these two groups. At the 12th green, part of this group has their cart stuck on a curb because they're basically driving where they shouldn't be driving near the green. I get to the 13th, another group of replays. 14th, same deal. I finally hit a group at the 15th that isn't part of this group of guys on replay. So technically, without these groups of replays that were placed RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME at the 10th hole, I would've had at least 3 open holes (maybe 4) in front of me.

Honestly, this was a total turnoff to me. You can't charge someone $65 and send groups out in front of them halfway through a round. It's completely unacceptable. I skipped the back nine with the exception of 17 and 18 and didn't even finish 18 because I was so annoyed at this point. Had I been waiting behind groups from the get go, I would've accepted that and played my round. Like I said, I was a single so I was expecting the round to take some time. But when you're cruising along and suddenly the starter tells you he just sent 4 groups of replays out in front of you, that's just bull. Send the replays off the 1st tee instead of right in front of other players who are playing at a certain pace. It completely ruins my opinion of this course. Probably won't go back anytime soon.

Play this course.

This was my first time playing Oxford Greens. I've had it on my radar for a while, and finally decided to make the 1:20 drive. I wasn't disappointed. I'm not sure what other people who wrote reviews are talking about when they say the tees were terrible. The Tees were great. Barely any divots. Smooth and flat. Fairways and greens were great as well. My only beef was with the bunkers. They are pretty rocky. A lot of small pebbles scattered among the sand. Other than that, the course was great. Visually, this course has a lot of really pretty holes.

I was the first person out at about 7am, so I played quickly and had nobody in front of me. Being the first person out on a course is the only way to go if you consistently play as a single.

I would definitely recommend this course to other players. If you're coming from the Westchester (New York) area, it's worth the drive. Not as good as someplace like Mansion Ridge. Probably closer to someplace like Hudson Hills, but probably a little better than that? Fix the pebbles in the bunkers and this would be a 5 star review instead of 4 stars.

Loved this place.

Decent Course.

The course photos are a little deceiving. The online photos make it appear as if it's a very well manicured course. But that's not the case. The course layout was fine. Fairways were fine. Greens were fine, but a bit inconsistent.

Bunkers were the biggest downside for me since they were lacking sand. They were just dirt. Luckily I only ended up in one bunker (sort of). Also, the bunkers were not cut around the edges, so there were weeds growing all around them, and in them. I had one drive that landed just shy of a bunker, rolled to the bunker, and came to rest on the wall of the bunker on a weed that was protruding from the side of said bunker. Like, literally resting on a plant growing out of the edge of a bunker.

Cart paths (where there were paths) were pretty rough as well. Hang onto your gear. You could easily lose things rolling over some of the rocky paths.

I was the first person on the course, so the pace of play was great. I can't comment on whether or not that is the case for most people.

I would definitely recommend playing this if you're in the area. But for me, I traveled about 1.5 hours to play. I wouldn't do that again unless I heard about a few improvements. But if you live in the area, or are traveling through the area, by all means check this place out. Price is right.

Overall, not a bad course. I've played worse courses, but I've definitely played better courses as well. The bunkers, rough cart paths, and lack of a drink cart made this a 3 star review instead of a 4 star review. Change a few things and you have a great facility.

Thanks for all your great ideas, but here are a few reasons that we can not do some of them. First of all, you pass the restaurant 3 times during your round. If you remember holes 6-9, a beverage cart would never fit on those paths, neither would a truck, so paving them would be extremely difficult. If you remember going to holes 13-17, a beverage cart can not cross that road with alcohol, per County rules, so therefore a beverage cart would ride around the same 6 holes all day and you go to the bar after 3 of those holes.
I totally agree with the bunkers, the groundscrew knew that was their project this summer and they got relaxed with them. We have 75 tons of sand and they are being redone as we speak. Thankfully, you only went in 1 of the bunkers that you spoke of! Glad to hear the fairways and greens were good, that's what most golfers care about. Hopefully, you give us another shot.

$24... you get what you pay for

Tees - 2/5
Fairways - 3/5
Greens - 3.5/5
Bunkers - 3/5 (some bunkers were actually great, others were terrible)

Who are these people giving this place 5 stars? This is a 2-3 star course on a very, very good day. Just a terrible layout. Looks like they are trying to fix it up a bit. But nothing that I could imagine would be able to fix this place and make it worth anyone’s time to play it. Spend 15 extra bucks and play someplace else. Move along... nothing to see here.

I used to think this course was a gem. But after playing some county courses in Jersey, and some other courses in the same area as Hudson Hills, I’ve changed my mind. This course is just ok. Westchster County courses are just not that great. Hey Westchester County, take a cue from places like Neshanic Valley down in jersey. It’s a top notch course and cost an arm and a leg to play it. HH is just someplace to play a quick twighlight round and get some practice in. $100+ dollars on a weekend for this place is a joke. This course isn’t worth more than about $60-$80, tops, on a weekend. Good shots are not rewarded at all. They’ve completely ruined the 15th hole by eliminating a landing area by allowing long grass to grow about 200 yards out. Greens are really hit or miss as far as conditions go. Same with the fairways and tees. Save your money, take a longer drive, and play someplace else. This course isn’t worth the asking price.

I’m sure I’ll be back here because it’s convenient for a late day round after work. But if I’m trying to play someplace really nice, and have the time, I’m going to drive a little further and pay less for a better course

Consistently bad pace of play. All. The. Time.

SSIA.

I should've known better than to play here on a weekend, but I got a good price on the GolfNow app and decided to play. The available tee times that were showing online, made it appear like it would be wide open. It was for the first four holes. Considering that you can see the first three holes from the first tee, I wasn't expecting to hit traffic on the fourth because there was nobody on the first 3. I've never played this course at a decent pace. Today was no different. After the fourth hole, we waited on every tee box. Sometimes up to 20 minutes because the groups in front of us were starting to pile up. There was no ranger. So nobody was trying to push slow groups. How can you not have a ranger on a weekend? This will be the last time I play here unless I start to hear that the pace of play has improved. It's been this bad since the 1990's and I'm baffled as to why I keep going back. The course is ok. Pretty good shape, pretty fun, pretty fair. But if you don't want a 6 hour round, don't play here.
