Hot take! I know , but hear me out. Royal New Kent does not pretend to be someone it isn’t , in fact embedded in its story lies the character of the hard working people who make it possible and those who dare to tee it up staring at its massive dune on the first tee. Royal new Kent was basically abandoned , until someone saw its potential, a Mike Strantz masterpiece could not be forgotten. I am aware of the great public golf in the northeast and beyond, as someone who has spend a lot of time and money playing most of those courses I can tell you that pound for pound RNK can be in the conversation with 90% of them. Although it doesn’t quite reach the elite status of Pinehurst 2 nor the greatness of Bethpage Black it does make you pay with great conditions and undulating greens that are faster than the aforementioned courses year round. I could go on and on, but I won’t, instead I’ll tell you this, GO ! PS. Bob in the pro shop, You are a gentleman and every time I drive the 2 hours to RNK I make a point to have a conversation with you as you are what the world needs more of.

Ps. I didn’t mention Tobacco Rd ( another Strantz masterpiece ) because Tobacco Road is on a whole different dimension

This course is very tough , 6475 yards from the gold tees but easily plays 7000 given the elevation changes. Tee to green conditions were better than average for early in the season. Greens are deceivingly fast.

Having played golf all over the world I must admit this place is impressive. From the design, to the overwhelmingly large practice facility this place does not disappoint. Great track with even better course conditions. This is literally an impressive place.

Course in great shape for January. Greens were lightning fast and smooth throughout. Great track.

Not good. Not bad , just there. Very crowded. Staff does a good job on the greens, people don’t.

Course tee to free in great shape. Great grass range and practice facilities. 2nd round was 29.99 with a beer and hot dog. Great value in a pristine course.

This is an old school , well maintained golf course with wonderful people who tend to you. Food was great. Lots of history here. Not fancy, but rather a refreshing breath of how golf should be. The greens were a little slow, but otherwise pristine. The grounds crew does a great job here.

Course was wet and greens sandy. But 78 degrees in February , can’t be too demanding of a dormant course. With that said I can see this being a premier track during the season, it appears that the superintendent and his staff are really making this place great. I’ll be back !

The course is a fair test. Fairways are generous, rough is about 1-1/2 inches but certainly makes you think about the lie. Now to the best thing about the course, the greens are incredible, they roll true every time and offer plenty of break. No ball marks, and they were running at least 10. Finally the members are very nice people.

Played this course after it received a lot of rain the previous day. Not a good thing, par 5 turned into a par 3, the carts have GPS which slow down to almost a complete stop if you ride where they don't want you. They should of advised cart path only instead of leaving you to guess where you can or cannot go. If it were to be dry I can see it being a good track. But if it has rained recently I recommend to stay away.

This course is very well maintained. Greens are in great shape and roll true. The tee to green experience is somewhat contradicting. The fairways are extremely tight and bumpy. Driver is not a smart play on most holes. Tee boxes need to be redone because they are not leveled. Other than that the course is very enjoyable.

The greens at this course have never been better. I could not find an unrepaired bal mark nor an imperfection on the putting surface. The leaves are starting to falls, but the grounds crew was out there working hard. Great layout and the owners are making great strides to making a good course great.

Resort golf. Great layout, one of the best public links style courses I've played. However the greens are full of ball marks and spike marks. A bit pricey but fun. Staff is very helpful.

Somerset county does a great job at maintaining their golf courses. Easy walk, open lay out and hard to loose a ball. Yet it is fun..... nice big greens that roll true.
