Course is in great condition, greens are fast. Wish I lived closer to play more often
Verrado Golf Club - Founders Course
Played On 02/16/2018Bad experience
Verrado has two of my top 5 favorite courses in the Valley. Had early afternoon tee time at Founders showed up around 1 hour early and there were at least 10 groups waiting on carts and while waiting didn’t see anyone play 18th hole for 15 minutes. We ended up starting 20 min late and barely finished in the dark. Something should be done to address the pace of play, new management needs to step it up. Very disappointed in the experience here. May have to spend the summer golfing in the east valley if this keeps up.
Copper Canyon Golf Club - Vista/Lake Course
Played On 08/16/2017Great course
I've always liked this course. A long drive for most people but it is well worth it. Couldn't ask for better conditions during these months, but I'm never disappointed golfing here. There may be one hole I don't like but that's due to my lack of ability to hit a fade. The staff and regulars are always very friendly.
Lookout Mountain Golf Club
Played On 05/31/2016Challenging/Fun Short Course
I enjoyed the layout, plenty of challenge and great elevation changes. Greens were in great shape. Got a great price luckily because they were punching the fairways, there was no warning of that when I booked so a little disappointed. I probably would only play this course in summer as it seems a little pricey for what you get, considering the surrounding options at least.
Grand Canyon University Golf Course
Played On 03/22/2016Hard greens plenty of sand
Everything was very nice and new, never went before remodel. Restaurant was great and facilities were all very modern. It's a little off putting due to the roads surrounding but not a deal breaker. My one complaint would be the greens were so hard and would not hold a shot. Plenty of bunkers everywhere, and nice sand for the most part. I probably won't go back for a while to let the greens mature, but overall very nice course.
Coldwater Golf Club
Played On 03/03/2016Not bad for $50
Driving range was terrible, chewed up and lumpy, if range balls weren't free I would say no way. Small putting green, and even smaller one by 1st tee. Most tee boxes were not level. All fairways and greens seemed in good shape, rough was nice. Overall just too far for me to drive for price and layout. Probably play again when prices drop but not until then.
Westbrook Village Golf Club - Lakes Course
Played On 12/31/2015Nice course, but greens are weird
There must be a glitch with the website, date doesn't enter correctly. I played on Jan 2, 2016. When I showed up the staff couldn't be described as anything short of overly accommodating. The practice facility was great, driving range was probably ready to move the line but not atrocious. Every tee box was amazing, maybe one not perfectly level, and all lush. Fairways were all amazing. Now my one complaint, the greens... They are not real grass, one of my group insisted they were, but I'm no fool. There was not a ball mark to be seen, and they left an odd green stain on the balls like I've never seen. I was unable to get any ball to stick on approach. They also rolled pretty slow considering their great appearance, but also pretty easy to get the right line. I will come back, but only for $35 or less.
Copper Canyon Golf Club - Vista/Lake Course
Played On 12/10/2015Best of the west
I got a morning tee time hot deal for under $30, but I would gladly pay full price to come back and play. It's off the beaten path but worth the extra drive. Practice facilities were great, starter was very friendly and just gave a brief overview and let us be on our way. There might have been one tee box not level, and only slightly. My only subtle disappointment was the wet sand, and even when they dried up still were not very "sandy". But the bunkers are easily avoidable for the most part so not as hindering even with the conditions. Saw bev cart three times during the round which was plenty, and Marshall twice where he just said to have a good round. Finished just under 4 hours as threesome with a foursome ahead of us and only had to wait to tee off after one par three. Can't wait to go back!
Pueblo El Mirage Golf Club
Played On 11/13/2015Fuzzy greens
I really like this course, it's great for beginners and the price is right in line as well. Fairways were in great condition, but the greens were like shag carpet. Some greens had really bumpy spots and they were super slow. I went out solo as my group had planned to take it easy, so they sent me ahead which was good. But I just sat behind a bunch of other foursomes anyway but the pace was decent about 4:05 total. Other than a couple bad shots I would have had lower than 88 if it weren't for the greens.
Quintero Golf Club
Played On 06/25/2015Beautifully challenging
This course is the pinnacle of desert golf. Amazing views, well maintained from tee to green, great practice facility. If you have trouble hitting straight off the tee bring plenty of extra balls.
Hillcrest Golf Club at Sun City West
Played On 06/23/2015My favorite local course
I've been playing for a few months and out of the 10 courses played in AZ this is my go to course. It is challenging enough as a beginner and fun for veterans I've been paired with. Only downfall was the regulars slowed down pretty quick in the heat. Was single behind two, behind four, from 6 up to 18. The foursome let pair through and I was stuck finding trees to sit under while they 8 stroked every hole.
Thanks for the feedback! We hope to see you again soon.
