Not the same

I've played here for years, haven't been back until now since the change with only having the 2 nine hole courses. You would think they would put more money into them with the change. Greens used to run fast and true, honestly they sucked and were way too slow! My most important factor about playing are the greens at a course and I was very very disappointed, they used to be so good here. Fairways are under repair on some holes and just not adequate on other holes. Price is way too high for conditions and pace of play slower than normal. Sand traps had real sand for the most part in the greenside bunkers. Honestly, I feel they are barely doing what they need to do to maintain course, just to get by as if the course might be closing in its entirety soon, it definitely feels it's half taken care of at this point.

A must play - Monument!

1st time playing & Monument is an excellent course with spectacular views especially on the back 9! Greens running about 11 and course is in great summer condition all around. They had Pinnacle closed for maintenance & Monument is next soon. This course is in my top 3 all time at 46 yrs old! I'm an avid golfer playing 2+ times a week and a 5 handicap. Shot 73 from a combo black/gold tees (12 black & 6 gold)! Living in San Diego playing Torrey, Aviara, La Costa, Steele Canyon plus many more...this is a must play in Phoenix! I'm an ex-caddy from Pelican Hill & have seen beautiful courses! My point is...Play Monument! ;-)

The Hype is True about Rams Hill

Been hearing alot of great things about Rams Hill and finally played on 4/25/15 and WOW it held up to the HYPE! This course is absolutely a must play and awesome! I definitely recommend it and would say a top 5 course in Southern CA! Fairways are carpet, greens running 12, maybe even 13 this day due to the ridiculous windy conditions that dried it out. We had 30-50 mph winds from the storm but no rain. Bunkers are real sand not packed dirt. Water features are beautiful. The wind made the course extremely difficult especially playing from the very back black tees. #15 was by far the hardest hole, 508 from the blacks par 4 into 35+mph winds. Had 3 birdies but shot way over my handicap at 82. I'll be back in better conditions, and with friends!

Warning! Over seeded alert!

Played the South Course and absolutely loved the layout! Very scenic and very beautiful course. They just opened from over seeding and it was cart path only. The fairways and rough were very green and lush, in perfect condition. I would have gave this place 5 stars if the greens were not running at 7.5, I was so frustrated over how slow they were, leaving so many birdie and eagle putts short! However, I know it's because of the time of year and I will return only when they are hopefully running around 10 or faster! Played from the blacks & reached almost all the par 5 's in 2 shots (there's 5 of them). Also the Bunkers are mostly dirt and not real sand which you would expect real sand for the cost of their green fees. Overall it's worth the visit and staff was awesome!

What happened to Steele Canyon???

I play this course now and then with usually no disappointment! Played on a Tues at 1:45pm and it was about 92 degrees...so I expected little traffic on course! It took about 5 hours to play waiting on every hole with some par 3 ' s stacked up with 3 groups! There was no beverage cart that ever came by. Lastly, I didn't expect great fairways and rough because of our drought, however I play Steele Canyon from the blacks as a 5 handicap because of the fast and true greens...they were absolutely terrible! Normally they run 10+ but this day they felt sluggish with long grass, bumpy and guessing speeds around 8! What happened to this place? Very disappointed to say the least! Wouldn't recommend it in its current condition for the rates they charge!

Best around Tahoe

I played the championship course par 72 & had a hot deal for $85 at 2:40pm and finished just under 4 hours after splitting away on the back 9 from the 3 some I was paired with. Course conditions were awesome compared to the drought we are in...green fairways and lush rough. Bunkers had nice real sand vs dirt! Greens were rolling nicely and pretty fast downhill towards the lake & would guess running around 11+...downhill away from the lake not as fast as well as uphill putts...play your break towards the lake even if it looks straight! I'm a 5 handicap & didn't score well on the front and shot 8 over with 1 birdie from the blues...ball carries further in the mountains & even the long par 3 's on the front I went OB long even clubbing down 1 club! I redeemed myself on the back 9 & was playing well all day just needed to adjust for the course...shot 2 under on back with 3 birdies for a 6 over 78. I loved the course it was beautiful through the woods with lake views here & there of Tahoe! Besides Edgewood golf course this course at Incline has to be the best in the area!

Challenging with great views!

Phenomenal golf course for the value & it is in great condition even being dry in a severe CA drought...perfect fast & true greens...intertwines through rolling hills, oak trees & lakes with beautiful views & no houses! I'm a 5 handicap from the blues & 1st time playing it I shot a disappointing 80 with no birdies or eagles, it was a challenging track with a few blind tee shots that take course knowledge...warning this place is always very windy like 25 to 35+ mph winds! Also no real cart paths but well worth playing! A must play for the avid golfer!

Driving range beware

I play this course now and then and during summer the conditions of fairways and rough are terrible for obvious reasons! However I only care about the greens which I would rate a 9 out of 10 mainly for being fast and running true! I'm a 5 handicap from the black tees and why I'm giving such a poor rating is they close there driving range on Tuesdays and they wouldn't let me hit even 30 balls or less to warm up yet there was someone else already hitting balls on the range at that time! I asked to speak to the head pro and he was in there when I first came in but left knowing I was upset and didn't want to deal with an upset customer! They wouldn't work with me at all! Pretty lame staff...I had a terrible round because mainly not warming up and left pretty upset! All I wanted them to do is work with me or offer solutions!

Terrible greens & no marshall to assist with pace.

I've played this course in the past with no complaints, but could not believe how chopped up the greens were & how very very slow they played. The greens had bumpy holes all over them in terrible condition and basically dirt not grass on almost all 18 holes. Very hot day & hardly any water was set out for drinking nor did we see a refreshment cart come around. No marshall was ever seen to help with pace of play. Will never play Riverlakes again.
