Oak Valley Golf Course & Resort
Played On 08/03/20206-Somes on the Course
Have played this course a lot over the years and it’s always just ok. However, if you have 5 groups of six playing the course and you still let others on there without telling them, THAT IS NOT OK.
Par 3 at Riverside Golf Club
Played On 07/22/2020For What It’s Worth
Cart path only mean just that. Three groups drove through a soggy course
Fairways are patchy
Greens have growth of weeds in them
Tee Boxes are mud or overgrown
I know this course is a muni but there are just too many good options around.
Chester Country Club
Played On 05/24/2019Fun 9-Hole Course
Not much traffic on the course. Fairways were a little thin for this time of year but not in bad shape. The course layout is fun....long par 5s and some long par 4s. Greens are challenging with very fun straight ahead putts. If you are looking for something a little different in a 9-Hole, this is a great place to play.
Teravista Golf Club
Played On 12/29/2014Perfect in December
The course was in great shape. The staff was extremely friendly. The course has numerous challenging holes.
North at Onion Creek Club
Played On 12/28/2014Classic Course That is Truly Special
Everyone from the groundskeepers, waitstaff, and clubhouse personnel were gracious and professional. The history of the course is truly special. The course is fun with 27 holes to choose from. Having the opportunity to play this course was a real treat
Sunset Hills Golf Course
Played On 07/11/2014Fun Course
The course has a nice layout and some fun holes. Fairways are a little tight but the greens are in great shape.
DeSoto Country Club
Played On 05/12/2014Tough Sledding on the Rehab
I would first like to state that I hope the new owners make a go of it. The course is in really bad shape. The greens were so high that putting was not an option. The fairways' grass was so high that I lost 3 balls hitting right down the middle. The rough was....really rough!
This is a nine hole course that does have potential but under the current conditions, other courses are a much better value. If the new owners shape it up, I would be happy to go back and give it another try.
Quail Creek Golf Course
Played On 11/14/2013Fun Course
Quail Creek has some really interesting holes and you will use all the clubs in your bag. The greens were extremely fast which made putting a real challenge, nothing on the greens to hold the ball.
Many of the fairways are narrow so placement is important. Course had maintenance people working in mid-November which is something good to see.
The GolfNow Hot Deal made this course a great value. I may play here again as a result.
Missouri Bluffs Golf Club
Played On 11/1/2013Beautiful Fall Day and Great Course
This is the first time that I played Bluffs but the facilities are top notch, the staff was friendly, and the course has a great layout. Some would say that the par 3s are all the same elevated and long, but I didn't find that a bad thing. The course starts and ends with a Par 5 and both holes were challenging and fun.
Course is in great shape but the recent aeration of greens was a slight impediment but expected for this time of year.
We played for free. The Golfnow rewards program is outstanding and to save 130.00 by using their site is proof!
The Links At Dardenne
Played On 9/25/2013Links Style
My friend and I decided to try a new course and chose The Link at Dardennes. Fun course that was in decent shape.
PROS
Open format...not many trees
Challenging holes but still a chance to shoot well.
CONS
Greens were chewed up. In fact, before our round, we were asked to tend the ball marks on the green. I found that odd but when I went to the greens, I saw what he meant. Poor golf etiquette
I may go back but there are much better courses with lower green fees that I would consider.
Deer Creek USA Golf and Event Center
Played On 08/15/2013Once a Great Jewel on the Decline
It is difficult to write a review on this course. Deer Creek used to be a really great place but it is operating on a shoestring now. The pool and tennis courts are not in operation and the golf course is really in rough shape. The clubhouse restroom reaked of raw sewage was just part of the poor quality.
There are missing signs on some of the holes. Arrows and numbers are spray painted on the cart paths to guide you in the right direction. Greens are half gone on some of the holes. Sandtraps have overgrowth or standing water. Fairways are decent but considering the great weather and the condition of other courses they are subpar.
I really like the layout of the course. Many of the holes are challenges and some of the pin placements make it tough. Many narrow fairways as well. It only cost 7.00 to play so that makes it hard to complain based on the price and I am not.
Deer Creek used to be a great place and could be again in the future but the lack of funds makes it a subpar course. Sugar Creek is up the road and is having the same difficulty. I want them to succeed but the only way I would return is with the great Hot Deal price.
Raintree Country Club
Played On 7/26/2013Short but Narrow
Raintree is in a development that includes lakes, pools, gated community, etc. The golf course is part of that package. I went during the week so it was not very crowded. Here is what I found:
Pros: Accuracy is a must. Very narrow fairways and water that will come into play.
Course requires many different clubs based on the layout.
Cons: Greens were on the minus side and for this time of year and the great weather, that was disappointing, very sandy.
The course is short with some quirky holes and there isn't a course layout to go by.
Slow players who don't seem to understand the concept of playing through but that is not the course's fault.
Overall, if you are looking for a course that is short but still can be challenging I would give Raintree a try. I paid 19.00 on a hot deal so that is about what it is worth.
Par 3 at Riverside Golf Club
Played On 7/19/2013Short...Lots of Trees
Riverside is only 5500 yeards longs which means numerous walkers, cut off jeans, and two ply golf balls.
However, do not be fooled, there are challenges. Lots of trees, some narrow fairways, and smallish greens. If you can hit it dead in the fairway, this course will play well but there is trouble on both sides most of the time. Water does come into play with one short hole, 260 yards, that has a lake right in front of it so you have to carry straight since there are trees on both sides.
This would not be my everyday course but for a change it is fun but only on a 15.00 GolfNow Hot Deal.
Fairfield Golf Club
Played On 6/10/2013Short Course but Nice Layout
I always preface my reviews by saying that the course is a great deal because of GOLFNOW, 11.00 with a cart. Please note that because it is a short course, under 6000 yards from the tips, you will have many walkers on the course. If that bothers you, do not go here to play.
The course has some challenging holes, especially on the back nine so be aware of some unforeseen water and high grass. The back nine's cart path is gravel but it isn't an issue for the most part.
This is not the course you go to impress your friends but it is a course I would play with friends because there is some great scoring holes. The first hole is a par 5 at 390 yards and the fifth hole is a par 5 at 470 yards.
Check out GolfNOw for a Hot Deal and go have some fun with this course
Oak Valley Golf Course & Resort
Played On 5/20/2013Frequent Player here
Union Hills is definitely a shotmakers course. It doesn't play long but the fairways, especially on the back nine are pretty narrow. I play there often and you can see the course shaping up now that Walters Golf is managing it. The course still needs work but it is really coming together.
The front nine has two really fun par 5s that are great birdie opportunities and the 9th hole par 3 is really a fun hole. I will continue to play this as my primary course because it has a 130 slope which is challenging and the Golfnow deals of under 20.00 makes it a great value
The Woodlands Golf Club
Played On 5/17/2013Fun Course
As always, the course always is better when GOLFNOW offers a deal for 16.00! The holes vary throughout the course so they do give you the opportunity to play different clubs out of your bag. The greens weren't in great shape but were good. I always like to see the staff working on the course when I am playing. I feel that they are working to keep the course in good condition.
Hole 8 had sewer porblems in the past so it has about 20 yards of dirt in the landing area which is not the best but they have created a drop zone there. I guess you could work on your hardpan shots there if you want though.
My favorite part was that they give you a course guide detailing the holes and what clubs you may want to hit. As a result, I did not use of GPS all day!
Acorns Golf Links
Played On 5/15/2013Quirky But Interesting
This is one of those courses that you probably want to be familiar with before you play. While I could say that about any of them, it is especially true of the Acorns. it is not the easist place to find but that is part of the charm.
The clubhouse has a nice bar area that definitely is inviting at the end. It sports a driving area with $3.00 buckets which is a plus.
I may be inclined not to give a good review but that wouldn't be because of the course. Moreso because I didn't play well off the tee box which makes any course a challenge.
It is not an upper tier golf course but it is a middle of the road one and with the 14.00 Hot Deal, it was worth the trip.
Eighteen Hole at Eagle Springs Golf Course
Played On 5/13/2013Fun Course to Play
Understand that this is a true Muni course run by the St Louis County Parks. That means that blue jeans and cargo pants will be in well supply and the level of golfer ranges from good to really bad. Marshalls will start and pair up people while calling out tee times but they will not enforce slow play on the course.
The condition of the course was decent. The greens were very fast considering all the rain and fairways had enough grass where you can hit off of them. It is not a gorgeous course with breathtaking holes but it is layed out nice. The course has some nice doglegs and the Par 3s have a little length to them. Overall it is a fun place to play and with the 16.00 GolfNow deal it is certainly worth a second look
Lockhaven Golf Course
Played On 5/6/2013Walters Golf Has a Lot of Work To Do
Golfnow offered a tee time for the ridiculously low price of 9.00 so please keep that in mind. For that price, anything above a cow pasture is a good deal.
The course has a fun layout and from the Blues it has a slope of 130 so it is challenging. Lots of woods and over half of the par 4's and 5's have a dogleg or bend. The green are a nice size, challenging but not too difficult.
The course does have issues though:
The yardage markers are missing on most of the holes so it is difficult to gauge distance.
Major drainage problems so numerous places with standing water.
The greens were recently airated so they were not in the best of shape but that is too be expected for this time of year.
Cart paths just disappear throughout the course so I felt bad driving on the grass with it being so wet but I had no choice.
The locker room has not been updated since was built in 1956. There is even Vitalis on the counter for you if you want to leave smelling fresh!
I enjoyed playing there but I was about the only one. Sure it was an overcast day but I played the entire course under three hours and didn't see anyone playing the entire time. If you like this coures I would suggest going out and playing it because I do not expect them to be in business much longer.
Stonewolf Golf Club
Played On 4/5/2013Walters Golf Management Hits a Hole in One!
Walters Golf has some of the best courses in the St Louis area and Stonewolf may very well be there flagship. Bogey Hills, Gateway National, Pevely Farms, and Bent Creek are beautiful courses that I really enjoy playing but Stonewolf does not take a backseat to any of them.
This course is difficult. Numerous bunkers and the greens are smallish or multi-tiered. There is water but it really doesn't come into play. The Bermuda grass fairways aren't still waiting for spring but there is still enough to hit on.
Staff was nice enough but the GPS didn't work on the carts but there are enough markings on the course sprinkler heads and yard markers on the cart paths to compensate.
Even for a golf now deal, the course was a bit pricey, $37.00 , but if I am going to pay a course like this is worth the money. Walters consistently offers the best prices for the quality of course which is why I look for their courses first on Golf Now.
