Westfields Golf Club
Played On 07/10/2018Great experience all around
I recently spent the day at Westfields. I demo'd and purchased a new 3 wood (Callaway Rogue Subzero), then head out for a round. The demo/ fitting lab is top notch. I will exclusively use them for all of my club purchases moving forward. I chose to not use the Trackman, but they have that whole set up there.
The course is fantastic and is in good shape. It does get a lot of play, but they do well to keep it up. The was a tournament the day I played, so it was a little choppy on the greens, but not too bad.
Overall, Westfields is in my top 5 DMV courses, and I look forward to coming back soon.
Twin Lakes - Oaks Course
Played On 06/30/2018Great local course
I prefer the oaks over the lakes. Its a challenging track that takes you a few rounds to really get to know. My biggest gripe is that they don't include cart in the rate. $52 + $22 cart fee. That's pricey for that course. Its totally walkable, but I have bad knees so that's out.
Wyncote Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2018Fun surprise
I travel a lot for business. I was passing through town and stumbled onto this track. Great find. Would definitely play again.
Stonewall Golf Club at Lake Manassas
Played On 06/16/2018One of my local Top 5
This course is in my Top 5 for DMV area golf. I enjoy everything about the course. Always in good shape. Tough track. Great clubhouse. A bit pricey, so I only play when I can get a deal.
Burke Lake Golf Center
Played On 05/26/2018Local favorite
This is a fun 18 hole part 3 course. Its been newly renovated and is usually in good shape. You can get through all 18 in 2 1/2 hours most days. You use almost every club in the bag (minus your woods). I'm a fan and my kids will learn the game on this course.
1757 Golf Club
Played On 05/24/2018Not my favorite
The practice facility here is top notch. I'm not a fan of the golf course. If you play it, I suggest bringing a ton of golf balls. I'm a 10 HC, and I burned through 2 sleeves. Its tight and pretty unforgiving. There is a part 3 over 250 yards. Why?! Just and oddly set up course that is more frustrating than fun. But if you are looking for a plane to practice or take a lesson, this is the spot.
Reston National Golf Course
Played On 05/12/2018Squeeze times
I will never play Reston National ever again. This is a shame because I like the course. They have what they call, squeeze times. They squeeze members in between tee times. This causes 6 hour rounds. Pure misery. I hate to leave negative feedback, but they need to fix that.
Laurel Hill Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2018My favorite course in the DMV
I love Laurel Hill. Its long, tough, and fun. I believe the 2014 Pub Links Championship was played there. The course has my number, but I keep coming back for more. A good round the always makes dinner taste better.
Old Hickory Golf Club
Played On 04/07/2018#18... Yikes!
I really like this course... Until #18. 600+ par 5. Off the tee: dead left, dead long straight, dead right. A fade off the tee is the safe shot. The next shot is a lay up to a narrow landing area with dead left & dead right. Your approach shot is a long/mid iron to an elevated, sliver of a green with dead short, dead left, dead long. The only bail out is right. You can have a really great round going until the last hole. Its a PGA tour level par 5.
