Ahwatukee Country Club
Played On 03/17/2024Nice Round of Golf
The course is adequate for a good round of golf without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for a well manicured track, pay the $150-$250 to get that! As long as you don’t hit way L or R there’s enough grass to have decent lies. I’ve played courses in much worse condition, this was nowhere close. I booked as a solo and got teamed up with another single and 2-some without any issues. The pace of play was about 4 hours as it was steadily busy. I’d come play this again when in Phx.

This course needs some TLC but my high school son felt it was a good course for him, as a beginner. I’m not a golf course snob so a round of golf is fun regardless. We made it through 18 in 3 hours. Buy water for $1 at the snack bar beforehand. If you’re looking for the perfectly manicured course, this one isn’t for you. Staff was incredibly nice to us. I’ll say this course is equivalent to an economy car, cheap with few bells and whistles. If you want the exotic car type of course, you’ll need to go elsewhere.

Course was great except the greens were a bit sandy yet. But honestly, if the greens were in perfect condition, putting on these greens would be a challenge for most golfers. The course grounds crew were polite, seemed to work really hard, and avoided being a bother to golfers. Pace of play was great and rarely did we wait. There is water/ice on the course in a couple of places and a beverage cart on the course. Do not call the snack shop for food, as advertised, because they never answered when we called 3-4x before finishing the front 9.
The tall pro shop guy greeted me with a “what’s up” after I walked in after my round. Seemed a bit odd but I said “I want to look around at your golf shop attire if that is ok…” I did buy a hat but thought he seemed a bit stuffy. I chalked it up to him not being use to seeing a minority at his place unless it was a grounds crew worker! Lol

First time at this course and I was impressed at the overall condition of the course from tees to greens. Understand you’re not playing Augusta National but this course truly is an excellent value. It has lots of slanted fairways and many holes that dog legged. The course is challenging in my opinion especially if your unfamiliar with the course layout and specific shots needed for each hole. We played 18 holes in 3 hours and 15 minutes at 11:30 am on a Friday. Pace of play was excellent. The carts do not have GPS but my iPhone app came in handy. One last thing is this course is best played with a cart. I didn’t see anyone walking. Several of the holes are spread out quite a bit and cart paths snake their way down hills to the greens. Overall, this is a nice challenging course I’d definitely play again!
