Dunedin Golf Club
Played On 10/18/2023Looking forward to the Restoration
Conditions may be below normal since the course is scheduled to undergo renovation which should be awesome. They have lost grass on several greens and in some fairways.
Not in terrible shape but certainly not in great shape. Will be back once the restoration is done but not before.
Cove Cay Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2023Why have tee times???
Showed up 45minutes before tee time to be told that I would have to play the front twice since I booked 18 holes, my tee time was 2:48.
When I asked why I was told there was a high school tournament scheduled on the back 9 at 4:00. Why have tee times available for 18 if you're going to restrict a player to playing the same 9 holes twice? Was a waste of time for me.
Sanibel Island Golf Club
Played On 05/11/2017Stay Away
Yes, the rate is cheaper than the Dunes on the island but you get what you pay for there and Sanibel Island isn't worth playing. The only positive comment I can make i that the staff is friendly.
If you decide to play the course, please get something to drink in the pro shop or around the corner outside. They do not have water coolers on the course.
Guy in the pro shop told me their greens were "transitioning' from winter grass that was overseeded to the grass coming n for the summer. The actual transition was from grass to dirt.
Number #9 green was totally dead, no grass, just dirt. Greens looked like they had been verticut so putts rarely stayed online.
Layout was okay and I'm sure the course at one time was worth playing but I won't be back.
Heritage Hill Golf Club
Played On 02/28/2016Always a Pleasure
As usual, the course tee to green is in great shape. Fairways still damp so it was cart path only. Still finished the round in 4 1/2 hours which isn't bad at this track. Greens are slower thank most in the area but they normally are.
Course is challenging as ever and one that makes you think about strategy before you put your ball in play.
Seminole Lake Country Club
Played On 06/05/2014Greens were the best part of Seminole
The greens were the best part of Seminole. I like the course routing and set up. Course is right in front of you but shots that stray just a little offline can cause you to card a big number. Plenty of bunkers and water so don't try to cut off too much when playing dogleg holes. Seminole is in the process of grading some of their fairways for drainage so several fairways are not in very goo shape. Once they complete this process I would certainly recommend the course.
Polo Fields Golf & Country Club, The
Played On 04/18/2014Please Tell Us Your Greens Were Recently Aerated
Have always enjoyed playing Polo Fields,. Course is challenging and is normally in great condition. The only disappointment we experienced this time out was that the greens had been aerated the week before and heavily sanded. After several holes our group made the decision that anything on the green became a 2 putt unless you holed out your first putt. Tee boxes and fairways were acceptable for early season and the staff members were friendly.
Elk Run Golf Club
Played On 12/4/2013Equal parts fun and challenging
Love this course, wish I lived closer to it. Course is always in great condition, especially the greens. You get to ease into your round with the first 3 holes being the easiest stretch on the course. The next 15 holes make you place shots and think about ball placement. Course is pretty open but you can find yourself in trouble on any hole if you lose focus. Highly recommend this course. No real practice area, no driving range. They do have a practice putting green and the food in the grill area has always been well above average.
Champions Pointe Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2013Top 5 Course in The Louisville Area
Love playing Champions Pointe. This is one of my top 5 public courses in the Louisville area. Always well maintained, greens are as good as any in the area and the course makes you think you way around it. You will use every club in the bag here. You can score well if you keep your ball in play and pay attention to the pin locations. You could have several putts over 50 feet if you don't know where the pin is.
Lincoln Homestead State Park
Played On 9/2/2013Don't judge a book by it's cover
Some players would not be impressed by a course that is less than 6200 yards from the tips but you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. The par 3 yardage total is 750 so they average 187.50 yards and they are all uphill.
The greens are the shining stars here. Small and not a flat putt on any of them it seems. Some have huge breaks and some have very subtle breaks that leave you puzzled. They were holding appraoch shots well when I played. Firm greens here could cause you to have some big numbers on our card.
I plan to play this course on a regular basis now that I know what I have been missing. Course conditions overall were very good. For $29.00 I got what I feel is a verygood deal.
Doe Valley Golf Club
Played On 7/16/2013Greens are in good condition.
First time here, played fr $14.00 through Golfnow.com
My course charges $16.00 for a cart fo 18 so it was hard to pass up. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and rough are average at best with some being in poor condition epecially the bunkers which are like hitting off the pavement in the parking lot. The greens are the star of the course along with the wildlife. There were only a few greens that had some small issues but they all rolled true and were holding approach shots well.
Love the elevation changes from tee box to fairway to green. Makes choosing your lines really important a you don't want to play from anywhere but the fairways here.
Deer are plentiful on and around the course. Saw 15 during my round. Course has potential and the is now owned by the HOA so I hope to play it again soon and see an improvement in the condtions.
Heritage Harbour Golf Club
Played On 5/31/2013Why would anyone drive past Riverstrand to play this course?
Too many other courses in the area that are in much better shape than Stoneybrook. Fairways have no grass in some areas. Some greens have dead areas on them, some have poorly patched areas on them and some have a little of both. Like the course design but the conditions are not up to par with other courses in the same area. Played Rivestrand two days before playing Stoneybrook and was impressed as usual with the conditions. Won't be coming back to Stoneybrook unless drastic changes are made.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 5/28/2013Great experience.
Great experience. Will go back to play both courses back to back someday. Played Pine Barrens and loved it. The course layout, scenery and practice facilities are all top notch. Some of the best greens I've putted on and they were quick. Love the bunkers even though I never want to be in another when I'm there. You definately have to think about where you want to place the ball as you are challenged off pretty much every tee box. If you have an elevated green make sure you have enough club as short is almost never good at Pine Barrens. A must play if you're in the area.
Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club
Played On 5/27/2013Where are the rangers/starters?
Dropped bag off at bag drop. Went into pro shop and paid for the round and a bag of range balls. Went to the starter area and my clubs are still in the bag stand. Wait about 8 minutes for the starter and decided to just grab my bag and walk back to the range area which is behind the pro shop. Hit balls and walked back to the starters area and still no one there. Wait another 5-6 minutes before someone pulls up in a cart and says they will go get the starter. After another 5 minutes or so the starter fianlly shows up and sends me off. Play the front in 1 1/2 hours as I was a single and groups let me play through. Made the turn and played the back in 3 hours. On 10 tee box I was behind a 2some with a 4some in the fairway and a 3some on the green. The holdup was a 2some that may have been a husband/wfe that never let anyone play through even though they had caused a backup of 10 players behind them that had to wait on every single shot on the back nine. Conditions were okay but I wouldn't make the drive again from Bradenton Beach to play Bobcat. You drive past too many other courses in better condition that pay attention to pace of play and provide better customer service.
Nevel Meade Golf Club
Played On 4/23/2013Need to Play Nevel Meade More Often
I just don't understand why I don't play this course more often. If I lived closer I would be a memebr here. Love pretty much everything about the course. Pace of play is always good and the course is always in great condition. The kind of course that you may use every club in your bag during your round. The best public access golf course in the Louisville area, I highly recommend Nevl Meade.
Indian Springs Golf Club
Played On 11/18/2012Wish I would have played here sooner. I'll be back.
Played here for the first time on 11/18/2012. I have stayed away from this course due to others talking about poor course conditions, rude staff and how tight the course plays. Big mistake on my part. I had a great experience playing here and will be definitely be back.
The staff in the pro shop were friendly and efficient. Answered questions I had about pin locations, local course rules, etc. Cart I was assigned was clean and in good condition. It was equipped with 2 sand fill bottles and both were full which was a pleasant surprise. Lately it seems that the odds of having filled divot mix on a cart is less than 50/50. There was also a rake on the cart. Wish more carts had rakes because I’ve yet to play from a bunker and think that there were too many rakes laying around. Most bunkers I play from have one rake and it’s always as far away from where my ball as is possible.
Tee boxes and fairway suffer from the same issues that a lot of courses have. Lazy, careless golfers. Tee boxes and fairways were in reasonable shape. Both would be in good condition if golfers would just take the few seconds necessary to fix divots. Most tee boxes had either sand bottles or sand containers next to the tee markers, some had both and they weren’t being used.
Course layout for the first 5 holes are pretty average. Fairways are generous for the most part and I never felt that homes were too close on any holes. Number 6 is a par 3 with the first water hazard you come to and this is where the course starts to get interesting. The remaining holes can bring every club in your bag into play. Water comes into play on 6, 9, 10, 11, 13, 16 and 17. Some really nice par 3’s on the back nine. Ball placement is more critical on the back nine than the front as the holes tend to be shorter and a smart tee shot helps you set up a good second shot.
Greens were in great condition other than ball marks made by one of two types of golfers. Members or guests and neither is acceptable anywhere. Please take care of ball marks and divots. Green speed was medium and the greens rolled true.
I will be back to play here again. I guess I’ll have to play some others courses I have heard bad things about and see if my perception is the same. Is Indian Springs a championship course? No, but it’s far from being at the bottom of the pack of local courses in Louisville.
Old Capital Golf Club
Played On 10/13/2012Great value, will be back
Great value at $35.00 including cart. Greens are in terrific shape, fairways are in good condition and the bunkers are some of the best I've seen all year. Don't let how open the course looks fool you. You can find trouble on every hole if you lose focus. This is one of the best deals in the area right now and I highly recommend playing Old Capital.
Thank you for the kind words and feedback, bhigginswroman! We're so glad to hear that you had a fun and challenging round with us. We hope to see you out here again soon!
