Had to play as a single on a Thursday afternoon. Encountered two fivesomes on the back nine on the tee at 10 and 15 - neither of which would let a single play through. Very disgusting, unthoughtful, unfriendly, uncalled for and totally void of golf ettiquete and common sense. Had to skip two holes as a result. Totally blame management for allowing fivesomes, first of all, and secondly not marshalling the course to prevent such behavior. Have not enountered fivesomes on anyother course in Orlando area other than Wekiva. Do not understand why?

Everything excellent except pace of play. Lots of waiting. Twosome I joined on fifth hole quit after eleven due to slow play. This seems to be a recurring problem with no monitors on the course. Sadly had to leave before completion. of play.

Everything is topnotch. Funtime, fantastic conditions, great weather. Golf at its best. Wish every round was as enjoyable. I have played many great courses including PB, Spyglass and Torrey Pines and this links course meets the same criteria. In a word, excellent.

Played On 11/06/2020Ye Gads. Do you love fivesomes?
Love fivesomes? Then you have a new home. Five old guys, in five carts, playing from ladies tees, parking on the fringe of the greens and not letting anyone through. Sound like fun? Well it is not and management chooses to ignore the problem. More than one fivesome observed too. Disrespecting golf etiquette and other players makes it difficult for everyone except, of course, the abusers. They could care less about anyone except themselves.
An apology is empty and meaningless if it does not address the root cause and need for the apology. Apparently management uses an apology as a diversion to deflect future criticism rather than as an positive, needed, corrective action.
By the way, I apologize for bringing this abuse to management's attention - thus inducing management to make an insincere public apology to deflect future criticism about this matter for which it intends to do absolutely nothing. Management has made the same apology numerous times in the past and done nothing to correct it. Welcome home golfers. Fore!

Sign in pro shop says beginning Oct 1, if you want to social distance and not ride with a total stranger it will cost you $10 above the green fee. No one wears a mask now at this course and in a couple of weeks you can pay the price: either choose the virus or pay add'l $10. Should be about 217,000 dead Americans by then from the virus and growing. Estimated 400,000 by Jan 1. SO - no problem, tee it up at Black Bear for the latest exposure to a deadly virus killing thousands daily. Or hand over those hard to get dollars. Management has spoken peasants.

Since the beginning of the pandemic we have allowed folks to take their own cart and many players are finding that taking their own cart is to their liking or a convenience vs. being a need. We have many friends and family members who are arriving in the same vehicle and sitting around the same restaurant table but request their own cart. The privilege is starting to be abused. The extra wear and tear on the golf course, the golf carts and on the staff with double the amount of carts going out daily causes an increase in staff labor, course maintenance labor and course repairs. Also, golf courses only have a limited number of golf carts per facility and when everyone wants their own cart that decreases the amount of rounds that can be put out each day. We will not require single golfers to ride with a stranger if they are grouped up in a foursome as this is a new process that will work to reduce the abuse of this convenience.
The pandemic has put a tremendous strain on regular operating functions and the adjustments that have been made to accommodate for the last 7 months are costly and there has been no increase on this facilities end. We apologize that the strains of the pandemic have caused us to foresee an increase as such but unfortunately in order to continue to maintain the golf course at the level we have been, this increase is necessary. If anyone has any specific questions regarding this new standard please call the Pro shop at 352-357-4732 and ask to speak to a manager for any further clarifications.

Thousands of dirt ruts with no grass in the fairways. Pitifull. How can you ask for more feedback? Patrons have been providing feedback about course conditions for years to no avail. Management pretends they are seriously interested in improving the course but it's a joke. They deflect positive feedback by asking for more detail. OK. Course looks and rides like a country road. Sand dunes are full of weeds and ditches. Some greens are in danger of dying. The new carts are falling apart from driving down fairway ruts. Rough is 18" of weeds in many places. Only a blind person could not notice the horrible shape of the course. A one star is a gift to be honest.

Pitiful - thousands of ruts in the fairways with no grass growing - just dirt. Plays like an old country road.and worse, rides like one. In danger of losing several greens and rough consists mainly of 18" of weeds. About as bad as it can get.
This review was intended and posted for another course. No idea how Golfnow messed it up. Ignore it.
I guess this golfer must have played in the Orange grove adjacent to the course. He definitely didn't play on ccomd. This course is always great.

Terrible conditions at this course for many years. Once a fine course, management let it deteriorate to the point there was little grass on the fairways and the ride is a jarring, bone-shaking experience. Big green fees and poor conditions seem to have driven this course to "has been" status. So many courses in much better shape and less expensive to play. An how about that promised clubhouse? Still a temporary trailer after 20+ years

Fairways plugged and uncut that look and feel much like a pasture, greens heavily sanded with both grooves and holes.. Have eliminated social distancing. No warnings on Golfnow whatsoever, Very disappointing and dangerous if you read anything about Covid-19. Are they making money? You bet. Are they saving money? You bet. That's what it is all about, right?

Since Florida has entered into Phase 2 of virus restrictions and protocols, we are no longer providing single carts for players under one/the same reservation. We can assure you our staff is still committed to the safety of our guests & employees and following the outlined recommendations of authorities. We're sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future. Greens usually are v. good. Today far below average. Holes punched in all greens and covered in sand. Sand flies in a trail behind a putt. Fairways are average at best. Sanded in many places and dirt only in many places. Turf is below average for their above average green fees. Better conditions at other courses for the high costs. Overall not too awful, but well below expectations.

Order of play: Fivesome, twosome, Fivesome, twosome. Lovely. Do not expect to play through. The curmudgeons are slow, disrespectful and inconsiderate of everyone on the course but themselves. Total disregard for the rules of golf and other golfers.

If you like playing behind a fivesome you have to play here. Because? You have time to read a book, smoke a pack, drink a bottle, catch up on what is going on in the office via email with your bosses' secretaries and most importantly, blaming your appointment tardiness to so S-L-O-W play at ole Wekiva. The grass is really thin on the fairways, but overlook that, and concentrate on the fivesome in front of you and how their captain's choice game is coming along. And don't worry, Wekiva management will assure you they are going to have their staff look into the problem. But don't believe that old saw because they are proud to have fivesomes on the ole course holding up everyone behind them, They think it's funny you should even ask 'why'. And one more thing, don't think they are going to let you through if you are patient because that is NOT happening. You are stuck and you and everyone behind you may as well quit because the fivesome is front of you has you exactly where they want you. Now all they have to do is ignore you and pretend you do not exist. These old guys love holding up everyone on the course and taking their time playing their game. What can you expect? Four carts and five old guys and total disregard for anyone else on the course. Cheers.

I play at Wekiva regularly and have been behind Fivesomes several times. Although it’s a bad look, I’ve always finished the round in less than 4 hours. So to me, it’s not an issue at all. Course is in great shape too.

Do you love to be stuck behind a fivesome? Then you will love this course. There are fivesomes here all the time and management does NOTHING about it. Willing to skip a hole or two and only play 16 or 17 holes? Fine, you will pay for 18 but have no one in front of you after you bypass the fivesome in front of you because they are out for themselves and no one else. They do not belong on the course but management looks the other way and says they will bring it up with staff? Never happens. They have been saying this for years and the curmudgeons continue to come out in their four carts and five players and hold up everyone behind them. They are selfish, self-centered, slow and old and they do what they want and management continues to look the other way and do nothing.

Asst pro was unfriendly to Golfnow golfers for some unknown reason. Said we could not check in before exactly 30 minutes from tee time and sent us away to wait. This didn’t leave time to enable us to hit warmup balls since the range is quite far from the pro shop and a cart is needed to get to the range on a very hot, humid day. Rest of staff was friendly, but this kinda set the mood for the rest of the day. Noticed there were several open tee times during the hour wait before the exact tee off time as well. What is the point in keeping the tee unoccupied when there are paid up golfers waiting to play? New business model for bankruptcy?
Back nine had to wait on two groups playing captain’s choice that would not let anyone through. Always a slow game while you wait for 4 players to hit, go collect their wayward shots, and then bring them to the best shot (even if it’s a sand shot) and then hit again. Doing this for an average 90+ times per round is really S-L-O-W.

Greens have grooves from one end to the other and are sanded. Slow and quirky. Bunkers are awful and totally inconsistent. Some are hard packed, others are deep heavy sand. There was no advance notification of these conditions period. SO - consider yourself warned and do yourself a favor - stay far away.

Staff were completely disrespectful to non-pga players not in the big, make that HUGE, pga tournament qualifier on this day. Shoving them out of the way, making them feel unwelcome from the pro shop to, and especially, the starter. The starter, Dennis, basically saying I don’t have time for you. Come back five minutes from your tee time and I will deal with you. Not exactly a welcome to our golf courses today. And did I detect a snout down to GolfNow players in the pro shop? Yes I am certain of it. Only if we could return the Bayonet welcoming from the former Fort Ord courses personnel at OUR home course. Really make them feel welcome. A day to remember.

Played On 09/10/2019Disappointing Marshall and Insulting, Disrespectful Treatment Towards Guests
Course conditions were good at this upscale and expensive course and things were moving along, albeit, at a slow, wait-every-shot pace until the 11th hole when a Marshall came by and told our threesome to pick it up. We were speechless and upset at that insulting behavior. The problem with that admonishment was that we had waited on every shot since the first hole with a slow, short hitting foresome of members in front of us. A hole later the Marshall was back and told us to stand aside for 15 minutes to let a threesome of members play through. Interestingly, he required the slow foursome in front of us to stand aside as well even though they too were members. After that, our round continued slowly for the rest of our round without seeing the Marshall again.
The abusive treatment by the Marshall towards guests of the club earn the Marshall not only “one star” for his insulting treatment but a major downgrade of the entire club for allowing a Marshall to demonstrate such abusive behavior toward guests instead of fixing a problem - the slow playing foursome of members whom we were stuck behind for 18 holes. The Marshall not only failed to fix a problem, but he created a major problem by his discourteous treatment towards us. I would not recommend this course to future prospective guests.
You are one of those golfers who mistakenly believes that the Official Rules of Golf says golfers playing alone have no rights on the course.
In 2004 the emphasis changed to how fast any particular group were playing, regardless of the number in the group.
In other words, beginning in 2004, the etiquette guidelines in the rule book said that speed of play - regardless of how many golfers are in any particular group - determines whether a group should be allowed to play through.
So, once and for all, a single on the course deserves the same consideration as any other group of golfers, according to the USGA and the R&A.
It is a shame you do not have any friends to play with. As a single, you should be flexible enough to go around groups ahead of you. Why should 3, 4 or even 5 players stop to let you play thru.
Grumpy old man. Keep your blood pressure down and simply play elsewhere. You’re welcome.
