Booked a foursome hot deal prepaid tee time on Golfnow.com. @ 936. Course was in great shape. One of our guys was running a little late. The guys in the pro shop brought him down to us on the 1st fairway. That was nice & they had no problem doing it. The starter was nice & informative, (Bob I think) as we had 2 players that haven't played there before. Everything was going great! One of the Marshall's even went back to hole #1 for my buddy's club, that he forgot & brought it to us by hole #4. By hole #7 a Marshall in a black shirt, the rest had bright yellow on. Told us we were a hole & half behind the pace & to hurry up. Yes the group in front of us was gone but the group behind us wasn't waiting AT ALL! Then when we're driving from #10 green to #11 tee box & 2 Marshall's pass us. First one in bright yellow waves & says nothing then the Marshall in the black shirt tells us we're now 12 minutes & 2.5 holes holes behind & if we don't hurry up we'll be asked to skip a hole. We look back & the group behind us (which is a three some) is still teeing off, which we tell him. He then tells us that everyone is complaining about the pace because of us. Couple minutes later we receive a message on the gps saying we'll have to skip a hole if we don't hurry up. So now he's in our head, couple of us shank one off the tee then proceed to find more bunkers than usual for a solid 3 holes. Golf has a lot of mental focus & when your told to hurry up, it makes things worse. Oh & all the water stations were empty on the front 9 by 10am. Some reviews warned me of such things, guess they were right! Probably won't come back here for awhile now......
Friars/Presidio at Riverwalk Golf Club
Played On 10/06/2015Close to downtown for a vacation round
Pretty nice course! 15 minutes from downtown via über if you don't have a car or the trolley stops right next to the course but is about a 30 minute ride. Played the Presidio/Mission. 8am was the first tee time on Presidio. It was myself & another single & we had no one in front of us, so that was really nice. Greens were nice, true & fast, nothing like the practice putting green. John the starter was real nice guy! The only bummer was "cart path only" because of a rainstorm the day before, not the courses fault. That kinda made the gps on the cart not as helpful. Otherwise it was a great course after reading a few bad reviews, mainly on the Friars course. Get out early as the wind is like clockwork around 10ish. We finished in under 4 hours, which rarely happens!!
