Ellesmere Golf Club
Played On 07/23/2020A cheery welcome and a course in excellent condition with the greens a particular highlight made our visit very enjoyable. And all that despite the persistent rain.
Glen Eagle Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/05/2019A little gem spoiled by selfish golfers
My wife and I were really looking forward to having a second round at Glen Eagle with another friend. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and the course, whilst not long, is quite tight with a good variety of holes providing a real challenge.
Sadly, we caught up with a four ball on the 3rd. They had teed off over 20 minutes before us. We then had to wait on every tee and fairway whilst the group ahead spent more time fishing for balls than golfing. It was only on the 10th tee when we arrived to find one guy cleaning his hawked balls that one of the group said “you appear to be in a hurry so you’d better play through”. Maybe it was wrong of me to say “thanks, we’re playing golf not fishing” but there was no excuse for the boorish aggressive and rude responses from one of the group. Maybe he was frustrated at his playing partners hawking antics but any experienced golfer should have called us through sooner.
We reported the incident to the marshal when we finished and he agreed to have a word. Mind you at this point the football were almost 4 holes behind us!
We’ve played the course again today and it was a total joy (again) and we’d recommend it to all standards of golfer.
Forest Glen Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/03/2019Always a joy
This is the sixth or seventh time we’ve played Forest Glen and it is always a joy.
The course was in great condition and the greens were very true. Whenever we visit Naples we try to play here and we’re never disappointed.
Glen Eagle Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/02/2019Nice compact course with good variety of holes
Our welcome at the bag drop was a little frosty but that was the only downside. We really enjoyed our round and we topped it off with a lovely meal in the clubhouse. The course was in great condition and, whilst not long, it presented a decent challenge with the holes being different in nature.
River Bend Golf Club
Played On 04/30/2019Friendly club with interesting course
A nice and interesting course, quite tight in places, with a good variety of holes.
Everybody involved with the club were very welcoming and helpful which made the visit a joy.
Sadly, we were stuck behind 3 4 balls who were extremely slow and, as a result, it took us 4.5 hours to play our round. Thankfully we had been paired up with a really nice guy so we had a good chat on the many occasions we had lengthy waits on the tee.
Magnolia Landing Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/17/2017My wife and I arrived just after our start time but the starter ensured that we were able to play up and join our playing partners. The course was in good condition despite the obvious lack of rain over the last few months. The greens were exceptionally quick but played very well. The only downside was the 4 ball in front of us who were so slow that we had to wait on every shot and we're being pushed from behind. Thankfully the starter moved them on a hole from the 9th green although we still caught up with them in the 13th by which time they were 2 holes behind the group in front of them.
Bonita National Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/12/2017This was the second time my wife and I played Bonita National and we found it just as enjoyable as the first experience. The course was fairly quiet so the starter let us go out early and we completed our round in under 3 hours. The course was in excellent condition and looks to have been there for many (rather than 3) years! The only giveaway was the house building work that is ongoing but it was not obtrusive and didn't impact on our enjoyment. We'll be back.
Hi "DaveHarrison" Thanks for the great review. We are glad you came back to give us another try! The course and the surroundings are definitely coming around. We appreciate the feedback and hope you'll visit us more in the future.
Lakewood Country Club
Played On 05/11/2017We enjoyed our round at Lakewood but I hadn't realised that the course was so short; probably more an "executive" course with not many par 4s.that has taught me to do more research before finalising my bookings. Nevertheless, we had an enjoyable round which we managed to complete in under 2 hours which freed up more time for shopping, etc!
Valencia Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/08/2017Tricky greens
We were given a lovely welcome and ended up playing with another couple. The course is quite open, and much of the back nine (without housing) is very attractive. We should have guessed from the practice green but the greens were both fast running and undulating so a two putt from anywhere above the whole is a decent achievement. All in all an enjoyable round.
Falcon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 10/19/2014Course has seen better days but an excellent layout
My wife and I were very well received in the clubhouse from both the Pro Shop and the restaurant staff and the starter was also very helpful.
Sadly, we experienced a downside in that we were stuck behind 2 4 balls with not much golf prowess between them and no grasp of etiquette. They finished a good two holes behind the group in front of them and we had to wait - we ended up as a 3 ball - whilst they posed for photos on the final green!
The course had an excellent layout but it struck us that it needs a little more TLC and attention. That wouldn't stop us playing again though as some of the holes on the back nine present an interesting challenge.
Another enjoyable visit to Raptor Bay
My wife and I have played Raptor Bay about 10 times in the last 5 years. We have always enjoyed the challenge and the course has always been in excellent condition. This time around there had been heavy rain on the previous day so it was a little heavy on the fairways and the greens were slower than usual but that didn't adversely affect our enjoyment and it was good to be paired up with another couple so we were able to enjoy their company as well as the course.
The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club
Played On 10/10/2014Tricky in places but not overly long
We arrived just in time to get out in front of a group of 16 guys which was smoothly sorted by the starter. As we were finishing, they were on the 13th!
The course is not overly long but there are certainly some tricky holes and we should have been a little more vigilant about distances to water which is there aplenty!
The only disappointment was that we never really saw the ocean which we'd been led to believe was in view on the course. Maybe we're not tall enough!
It did not detract from a very enjoyable round followed by a couple of cold ones.
And the day was topped off by a visit to Golf4less on Summerlin Road. Well worth checking out.
Old Corkscrew Golf Club
Played On 10/09/2014A real test with a great variety of holes
This was our third time at Old Corkscrew and we've enjoyed every round. The course presents a real challenge to all standards with a nice mix of short and long holes. The greens were excellent but quite tricky but you always get rewarded for a good shot or well read putt.
Glen Eagle Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/03/2014Friendly course and staff
Glen Eagle was a nice friendly way to start our golfing vacation in Naples.
We were given a really friendly welcome and enjoyed the course that was not overly long but had a nice variety of holes with a decent number of risk/reward options.
The only downside was that the snack bar at the 5th was closed so we had to wait until halfway to get some food but we were rewarded with excellent salads served by very friendly and efficient staff.
Mallards Landing Golf Course at Melbourne
Played On 10/22/2013Not the best way to end a great golfing holiday in Florida
The course had several really good holes but overall the course requires some attention. The greens were ordinary at best and quite slow with clear signs of recent work that looked some way away from paying dividends. Sadly, it was our last day's golf on our holiday in Florida so it was a disappointing finish to what had been a great few weeks playing on some fine courses.
Palm Beach National Golf Course
Played On 10/21/2013A nice course not quite at its best but with friendly staff
My wife and I found all the staff and members very friendly. The course provides a very decent challenge with the last six holes providing a good finishing stretch. The greens were not as good as we would have liked but they'd fairly recently had attention so they should be fine by early November.
Eagle Lakes Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2013A good lay out in urgent need of TLC
My wife and I decided to go back to Eagle Lakes having played there 4 years ago.
Sadly, we were very disappointed with the condition of the course and even at the summer rate of $39 we felt we didn't get vfm.
The staff were all very friendly but the course itself seems to have suffered through a lack of attention in the last few years. No doubt the above average rainfall hasn't helped but there far too many tatty areas on the course.
It is a shame to report that our main highlight was watching a bald eagle tussling with another large bird of prey over its catch as opposed to the course.
Forest Glen Golf & Country Club
Played On 10/9/2013The best fairways we've played in Florida this holiday
This was our second visit to Forest Glen and we were pleased to receive a much better welcome in the Pro Shop than last time when the guy behind the counter steadfastly ignored us for several minutes. This time we received a friendly welcome which was repeated by the starter. We then enjoyed 18 holes of golf on the best fairways we've experienced this holiday. The course was fairly quiet and when my wife came up behind a fourball we were very swiftly allowed to play through. The only disappointment was that the green for the 9th hole - one of the signature holes - was not in play as the new green is still settling in. That didn't detract from our enjoyment of what is an extremely high quality course that presents an excellent challenge to golfers of all standards.
Panther Run Golf Club
Played On 10/8/2012Enjoyable and fair test of golf
This was our fourth visit to Panther Run over the last three years. As always we were given a fine welcome and then we were able to enjoy the course, which was in excellent condition, with a better than average time for the round to be completed. The fairways are quite generous but some of the pin positions, on what were really fast greens, provided a good challenge
Concur on the slow play. Great course but a serious pace of play issue. If you are ok with 4.5hrs or more then go for it. We waited on every shot - disappointing, no marshalling whatsoever.
